Carriage House Inn
We tried this restaurant as a catering option for a wedding. The food was delightful. The chicken, steak, crab cake, brie, crab dip, coconut shrimp were all amazing. The dinner rolls were also delicious.
Every thing was perfect. Can hardly wait to go back.
Overall we enjoyed ourselves and will go back, but there is defiantly room for improvement. First, we booked an early time because we wanted to sit near the fireplace, and I noted that on our reservation request. Although there were several tables open near the fireplace, not only were we not seated in one, but we weren't even seated in the large dining room with the fireplace, we were seated in another section of the building! So my view was that of a steel fire-door that was beat-up and badly in need of a paint job. That's all I saw the whole time there was that horrible steel fire-door separating the portions of the building.
They were busy and short on wait staff, so service was slow with significant lapses in seeing our server, but she was very friendly and moving as fast as she could, we didn't fault her.
The menu is awesome, with a wonderful selection of standards and unique items. It was one of those that it was hard to make a choice cause there were so many good ones.
We got the Cream of Crab soup, which comes in a cup, bowl, or boule (bread bowl). It was over the top, some of the best we've ever had! I had the stuffed shrimp with sautéed wild mushrooms and creamed spinach. My wife had filet with baby potatoes and the creamed spinach. The shrimp were advertised a Jumbo, they weren't, they were only medium sized, that was irritating, but they had a nice portion of crab on them and they were very tasty. The delicious mushrooms were actually a variety of wild mushrooms. The creamed spinach was actually fresh made. It had great flavor, but the spinach need to be wilted more before adding the cream. My wife's filet suffered the fate of most steaks, overdone. 80% of steaks we get out are overdone. She wanted med-rare & got medium. But it was tender and the sauce served with it was excellent. The potatoes were the worse part of the meal. Baked new potatoes, skins on, thrown on the plate, no butter, nothing.
I've been critical, but it was good & will return.
WentFor Valentine’s Day! Everything was great excellent service great food great atmosphere the only negative is they need more parking! We regularly visit the carriage house and we will certainly be back I do miss the Sunday brunch!
Don’t miss the gem as you won’t be disappointed....
Service was outstanding. Wait staff was great. Your online reservation system was easy to use.
The Piano music was just right. It was our 51st Anniversary
Thanks for the memories
The food and service were amazing. What put it over the top was the beautiful piano playing! We had two kids with us and they especially loved when she started playing Disney songs! It was a great dinner!
The food was well prepared with serving size equal to price. Service was attentive and complete. Chef is awesome who visited tables personally! Can’t wait for my experience
Lovely, personable staff. Best crab cake I’ve had in eons. Our server MJ gave us plenty of time to chit chat, and was nonetheless attentive to our needs. Honestly, I felt it was a bit over priced.$32 for two crab cakes was too much, no natter how good they were! The good thing was there were many many options on the menu besides seafood entrees. You could have a good neal there on a budget, for sure. They had a good wine selection, too. I’ll go back for sure.
Very nice, food was very good but portions small for the cost.
Loved the menu-food was excellent. Very attentive chef. Definitely recommend and look forward to going back.
Filet Mignon was cooked to perfection. The seafood chowder was loaded with seafood with excellent flavor. Crab cake had no fillers. Staff was very attentive, great suggestions and very friendly. Covid guidelines were followed for those that are concerned. Meals are excellent and consistent quality anytime we have had a meal there.
We were early but seated right away. Drinks came out quickly, food was timely and delicious. The wait staff checked on us regularly and were very friendly. The manager stopped by our table to check on us and we had a nice chat with her. A very friendly staff, wonderful service and great food. We enjoy our visits to Carriage House!
High quality food - very expertly prepared. Stuffed shrimp is delectable - not overly dressed or creamy - just well seasoned quality seafood beautifully prepared. Jumbo asparagus also outstandng.
Great little place. Very good value.
The food at Carriage House did not disappoint, and was absolutely delicious! Unfortunately our server seemed to be pulled in too many directions, so service was remarkably slow and we had to ask multiple times for a few things.
This beautiful little gem of a diving experience has become such a favorite, we even ordered party trays for the holidays!
Always a pleasure dining at the Carriage House. Thanks for great food and service.
I had the pork lion but thought it seemed a bit tough and not as much flavor as i would have liked. Rest of our party said their food was very good. Service was also very good. I'd go back again no question, just not order the pork lion.
Great atmosphere and the food was fabulous! The service was superb! We will be back. Thanks for a wonderful dining experience!
Excellent food , fine dining at a good price. Server was perfect. The lady playing piano was very talented, and a sweetheart. We will return the next time we’re in the area.
Food was great. The service was great and very friendly staff.
The Staff always welcomes me with one arms. I live in Carlisle, but enjoy dining here. Chef T always has good food selection. I highly recommend.
Everything about this place is great, food, service and ambiance. I had the cream of crab soup delicious!!
Carriage house meal was very very good and our business lunch went off in a perfect location and with proper social distancing..
Excellent meal and service. Will definitely be back!
Excellent service. Delicious food. French onion soup is superb. Prime rib, when available, is great. Love their black raspberry pie and gelato. Pecan pie a little watery.
Always been a great experience but with a new chef it's now fantastic.
Our first visit to the Carriage House as visitors to the area for the weekend. Piano music was great! Our dinner(s) Salmon and Scallops were excellent to include the Creme Brulee for dessert. We will be visiting the Carriage House (again) when we return to the area. Would highly recommend.
Overall very good. The waitress was a little lackluster. The food was exquisite and scrumptiously delightful. The appetizers were our favorite!! The ambience needs to be a little bit better. It could use some updating.
Everything from start to finish was perfection. The restaurant is very cognizant of social distancing requirements and my friend and I felt very comfortable.
The food was delicious. Soooo good. I ordered the chicken Chesapeake sandwich and my friend ordered the soft shell crab sandwich (which was the special of the day).
Our hostess gave great recommendations and was accommodating with requests.
I’ll be coming back again soon. This was an amazing meal!
Tables were set up outside for outdoor seating, so the view of the parking lot was nothing special; but we were just happy to sit outside. The interior was attractive, with old refinished wood flooring and a fireplace; it would be cozy in winter. The food was great; very traditional meals--good steak and seafood dishes, an extensive choice of sides, and amazing homemade desserts. The chef came out to check on the experience--always a nice touch. Attentive service. Limited wine menu.
Excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal! We ate the crab/shrimp salad and chicken alfredo. The meals came with homemade, utterly scrumptious biscuits with real butter. The salad dressings are all homemade. The serving staff were courteous, very cautious and super (Covid) sensitive. We will definitely return!
Try their brie to start and then crab cakes. Awesome!
It is ok. Food wasn't great but it was good. Ambiance was a little lacking. Servers are nice and attentive.
Very pleasant evening. All aspects were enjoyable.
Anniversary
Beef Tenderloin, Crab Cake with Bearnaise Sauce and tender Asparagus were the stars here; also prepared expertly was Beef Short Ribs with Polenta. Hostess and wait staff were pleasant and attentive, and Sara who waited on us did an excellent job overall. A bit of a drive for us but we plan to return.
Perfect. The service Tina provided was personal and professional. Team effort in every way. Hostness was pleasant and helpful. Restaurant week was a great way to sample kitchens ability. Filet and short ribs preceded by crab and tuna. Excellent salads. Great old fashioned and wines by glass. Bread amazing. carrot cake delicious. PIANIST incredible.
Wonderful atmosphere! Piano player was spectacular! Great food and service
