Proximity of main dining to the bar was VEry close making an otherwise pleasant scene loud and boisterous to the point I almost asked people at the bar to be quiet. Food was alright.
A surprising menu featuring both vegan and a few wild game dishes (such as elk or duck sausage, and pulled pheasant sandwich.) The duck sausage was delicious. Good French press coffee and an interesting selection of champagne-based drinks - perfect for brunch.
Great food, great service! Went as a bachelorette party and the entire staff was lovey and accommodating, plus the food and drinks were excellent!
Wonderful evening. Restaurant went above and beyond to acknowledge a birthday celebration!
Everything about Cedar was great. The vegan steak and cheese was divine. It is nice to have multiple options for vegans and non vegans.
Excellent service from Kacey. Great place for a quiet lunch. Wonderful menu with great variety.
Had a quick business lunch- food and service were very good. We were the only ones in the restaurant though which was a little strange...
Great vegan as well as non vegan. Great team Will be back
The restaurant was wonderful! So many absolutely delicious vegetarians and vegan options, I was blown away. Also, there was some miscommunication while ordering (there were two tagliatelle dishes), but once we told them we meant the other they immediately made the other dish for us, gave us the lower price of the first dish and then also gave us a free drink. To top it all off, we were celebrating our anniversary and they gave all four of us free champagne! The service was phenomenal and the meals were incredible!!
Hidden fees. I was charged extra on steak in brunch. I didn’t catch it until I already paid. Mediocre food as well.
Nice little restaurant tucked away on E Street next to the FBI buildikng Cozy downstairs dining and good sized bar. The service was perfect -- the chef made us rack of lamb for lunch even though it wasn't on the restaurant week menu! And it was delicious. I definitely recommend this place.
Had an amazing night. Great food. Very thoughtful and knowledgeable staff. Elegantly styled decor. Quiet space. Perfect evening.
Nothing to write home about.
Our meal was INCREDIBLE. The food was fantastic (and unique!), the drinks were good, and the service was amazing. I spilled on my dress and the host got me a Tide pen, that’s how good the service is. I’m amazed. I came here for restaurant week and I’m definitely coming back. Thank you.
Cedar was generally ok. Nothing was particularly good or particularly bad when we went for lunch.
The smoked salmon eggs Benedict is to die for! Great service!
We have gone to Cedar for family milestones. Our experience have always been exceptional.
Our experience at Cedar was superb! This was our 1st trip back for quite sometime and were received with open arms (and our favorite bottle of wine) by the owner and his entire staff. We had the 3-course Restaurant Week lunch offering - absolutely delicious!
Great food, drinks and an awesome staff.
We went for Restaurant Week. The food was delicious, and the wine accompaniment was fantastic as well. Our waitress Lauren was so pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive. Will definitely be back!
Had a great experience, food was good, service was excellent!! Will definitely go back..
Best place in DC to go for Restaurant Week!
Excellent food and outstanding service!
Visited here with a group of friends visiting from out of town seeking a place with abundant vegan options as well as ability to feed a gluten-free friend. Wanted a fine-dining experience. We appreciated the variety available & good food quality. We also were pleased to have such a knowledgeable server. Finally, the quiet ambience made conversation pleasant.
Always a phenomenal dining experience at Cedar! The food and service are wonderful! I highly recommend!
One of my favorite places in Penn Quarter. Huge fan of the pre-theater menu... or quite frankly any menu there anytime.
Reasonably priced brunch with quality food and good service.
What an outstanding gem! Great vegetarian and vegan selections ranging to interesting meat options like elk. Perfectly prepared food and fantastic service.
Very friendly staff. Nice and quiet. Ambiance was very good. Excellent for a first experience of various game meats. Overall, the food was good, not better or worse than that.
The food was amazing and our server Lauren was fabulous. I told her when we arrived that it was my husband’s birthday. We received a complimentary glass of champagne for the adults and cider for the kids and the plate with his desert had ‘happy birthday’ in cocoa powder.
My dinner was from the vegan menus. The waiter suggested the 'meatloaf' and even though I was thinking of ordering something else, I went with his suggestion. It was delicious. It came with a vegetable medly and potato sidedishes. The vegetables were good but the potatoes (purple) were bland. The waiter was very attentive - good service. The only complaint is that the noise level was too loud.
We were 1 of only 2 occupied tables in the restaurant, yet it took almost an hour to get our food. My order came out quite differently than it was listed on the menu. Took clients there and will not be going back!
Lauren, our waitress, was amazing and made the dining experience perfect enough to compliment the meal.
Great place for an office lunch. The food was great and the menu was good for our group with some dietary restrictions. The vegan menu is a great option, and other interesting game meats rounded out the menu. There's something for everyone. It wasn't too pricey but the ambiance was good. Would recommend.
Came here for my gf's birthday and had a great time. She does the whole vegan thing and said the food was very good. The entire staff was extremely friendly and brought out a special dessert to celebrate the occasion. The restaurant was fairly quiet so we could hear each other talk which was great and the dimmer lighting made it feel very cozy. Only con is that it was a little expensive for smaller portions but I kinda expected that going into it since a nicer restaurant.
I met an out of town guest for Bruch at Cedar. I had only been there once many years ago. The restaurant was very quiet on a Saturday, leaving me to want to urge people to go there and keep it in business.
The menu had some intriguing options and the small dining room is artfully arranged. But I want to praise most highly our server, whose name I did not get. This young woman showed patience and good humor with my friend who has a long list of health related food concerns (my friend tries to find humor and graciousness as well). She did an excellent job of making suggestions and accommodating her needs in the way the extremely tasty elk sliders were delivered. My non-negotiated eggs benedict on potato crusts was light and delicious.
I look forward to when I can go again.
came here really looking forward to trying the vegan options, had heard good things. Ordered the ravioli as that was recommended and loved it. The vegan ceser was good and liked it because you can't find it many places, but it wasn't outstanding. Also, saved room for dessert because its hard to say no to a place that offers vegan dessert, however was a little disappointed with the blueberry and pecan bar thingy, it was dry and not worth the splurge I was hoping for. ps. loved the white cranberry champagne and will be back soon to try out the vegan brunch.
We celebrated our 30 year retirement at Cedar and were amazed by the quality of the exceptional food (appetizers, entrees, and desserts) and the impeccable service. We enjoyed a perfect evening! Thank you to everyone at Cedar!
Our server was this fabulous, FABULOUS woman who was so kind and literally ran back n forth from the kitchen to our table to check ingredients as I have quite a list of allergies. She went above and beyond and the restaurant itself was tasty and accommodated both my plant-based lifestyle AND my boyfriend’s strictly carnivorous diet, which is always a treat for us!
A slow start turned into a very enjoyable event MG with good food an ambience.
