We had great service but it was on the slow side from the kitchen. I don’t think the reservation system worked. Too many people came at the same time. That having been said our waiter Jeremiah was top flight and went out of his way to keep us informed. He learned our names and used them throughout the meal. The staff really worked hard. Hope we can get back soon.

They were out of several menu items including most of their cocktails and their chateaubriand. It took one hour a fifty minutes to get our dinner. Food was fair.

What a meal! The food is outstanding. I had the duck, which was one of the best I ever had. Perfectly cooked and flavored. The steak tartare appetizer was wonderfully done and full of flavor. The service was top notch. My go-to place for a perfect splurge meal in Ashland.

We visit Ashland once a year from CA….For the past few years we have always visited this restaurant (and Smithfield’s before that). Although the food was pricey, it was also quite tasty. The short rib was it tender and flavorful. The duck a la’orange was also very good. Additionally, the cheesecake dessert was homemade, and you could tell… It had a great crust and a very nice flavor. One of the best things about the meal was our server Nico… he was professional, attentive, hard-working, and had great recommendations.

Our group had a variety of selections off the regular menu as well as the Prix Fixe. While we all enjoyed our meals, the Wagu steak and vichyssoise soup on the Prix Fixe menu were excellent as were the bread spreads selections. Perfect light meal within a reasonable price point. I think the garden could use a little tender care...it's lacking in ambiance versus the gardens at their sister restaurant, Alchemy, across the street. I will definitely recommend the Prix Fixe menu after my dining experience.

Best steak I've had in ages. The family did a mix of things, couple of steaks, some risotto, and a bit of duck. Not a bad bite for the whole evening. Our server was wonderful and took good care of us. We were too full for dessert.

The food and service is outstanding and appreciate the small touches throughout the experience. Usually ordering a steak in many places the presentation and flavor is bland, while ours was thought through and themed well. The seasonal peach salad was over the top as well.

Our experience was absolutely excellent! From the moment we walked in and we were greeted by the owner and when we left he escorted us to the door. Our waitress Alana was delightful, personable & professional. We each enjoyed one of their creative cocktails before ordering. For our entrees we had Duck a l’Orange and a Filet Mignon with the Mushroom side dish, accompanied by a glass of wine. . Everything was cooked to perfection. The Lavender Vanilla Brûlée was the perfect end to our night. The restaurant was busy but we felt like we were all alone. Request a table on the outskirts of the dining room.

Entrees were excellent while other courses were just average. Big problem for this visit appeared to be a shortage of staff. Waiters were constantly mixing drinks and had the task of seating customers. My appetizer sat on the counter for a long time before it was finally delivered.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Chateaubriand (finally!). We like the new layout of the restaurant, which moved the bar and opened up the front windows to bring in more light. The food was very tasty. Everyone was very happy with what they ordered. It's on the pricier side as Ashland restaurants go but the portions were good and we didn't leave hungry. Couple dings but nothing major: beer list is a bit limited, with only two actual beers and two ciders. A dark hearty beer would have been nice. Several items on the menu were not actually available due to a late shipment, which is understandable, though its not a huge menu to begin with, and it would have been nice to have been told what wasn't available when we were given our menus instead of when we were ready to order and then had to think on the fly. Overall, very good and I'm sure we'll be back.

We had a wonderful evening at Chateaubriand 36 in Ashland last night. We hadn’t been since it had changed over from Smithfields and what a loss for us. Our meal was incredible! We started with the cheese plate that was created by none other than the amazing owner and cheese connoisseur of The Oregon Cheese Cave. Next came the wedge salad (we devoured it before I could get a photo). The four of us enjoyed everything family style including the bread basket with three different spreads: salted butter, pancetta butter, and my favorite, the chicken schmaltz. The duxelles risotto was heavenly and the Chateaubriand was perfectly cooked and served with roasted fingerlings and unreal sautéed mushrooms. It was a birthday celebration so we ended with the lavender and vanilla bean creme brûlée. For as wonderful as this meal was, I was surprised by how few people were dining there in a Friday night. I hope it’s soon filled to the brim with diners oohing and aahing like we were.

Our service was fabulous, the drinks were superb and the food was great. The only critique was the smoked eggplant was overpowering and we didn’t like it at all. Also, they have butcher paper over the table cloths which I know many places do but for the ambience of such an elegant place, I didn’t love that. We will come back and recommend this place!

Fat=flavor. I never really agreed with the adage until dinner at Chateaubriand 36 in Ashland. From their duck fat washed dickel rye cocktail to the bread served with whipped beef tallow and chicken ‘schmaltz,’ this restaurant takes the oft vilified ingredient and elevates it to a feather-light suggestion of flavor. While I don’t doubt they could get you in and out in an hour to catch an OSF play, do yourself a favor and allow time to really enjoy the experience.

The food is delicious. The Steaks are great quality. The sauces are yummy. My favorite is their French fries with the garlic aioli it's insanely delicious. We'll go back for sure.

This was our 2nd attempt to dine here in 8 months. Both times, they were out of over half the items on the menu, including the sauces. Disappointing and Ashland has better choices for dining. Server was very nice though.

Beautifully prepared and served meal. Imaginative dishes with great depth of flavor. The meat was the star but the veggies were also fantastic (the mushroom appetizer was swoonable). Superb staff: knowledgeable, perfect timing and very good judgment in regards to timing. Can't wait to go back!

This was an exceptionally enjoyable evening out. The service felt very personal and attentive and they kindly flexed on some specific requests. The food was fabulous! Every single bit! So often dining out is a bit disappointing but in this case it exceeded our expectations ( trite as that sounds). The couple with us have traveled the globe and were also delighted with their meal and wine. Thanks for a fine evening!

We,we’re there early in the CEO’s it was very quiet. Our server was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. The food was delicious; I especially enjoyed the French onion soup and the crème brûlée’s. The bread basket and assorted butters was also delicious and interesting. Our steaks were cooked exactly right
