The food was great, but the service wasnt as good.
Service was extremely slow and food average. Unfortunate because Chucs used to be great and location is fantastic.
Very impressed with this restaurant, it's already become my favourite in London. Being off the beaten track a bit seems to work to it's advantage in that both times I have been there it was not too crowded. Somewhere of this quality (the food and the stunning Zaha Hadih interior) and value would be packed every night in the west end or other trendy parts of London. The acoustics of the space is outstanding so it does not get noisy. That said, on my last visit, the music was ridiculously loud which would have spoilt the meal, but they turned it down at our request.
After organised and booked for party of ten and pre alerting of dietary requirements, huge disappointment to find only after deciding on menu choices that lots of things not available. Waiters unfortunately ill informed and lots of return trips to kitchen.
The people working were great but the lentil soup really bad. The pizza mozzarella was ok but nothing special. The architecture is fantastic so the food could do much better.
The cobb salad was surprisingly small with too little lettuce..
Very thoughtful service. Our food arrived late but they graciously made a gesture to acknowledge it
Unfortunately the food was quite cold. Tried to catch a waiter's eye but couldn't do, and we were too hungry. We did mention it when we paid. It was the same for all on our table.
Cold food, poor service & no atmosphere unfortunately. Very disappointing!
A fabulous venue and atmosphere - sophisticated but relaxing and benefiting from greenery around the location of the restaurant that created a calming place to be.
The service was superb and friendly.
The food was Ok but there was some elements that didn't quite work - like the deconstructed cob salad.
Outstanding Zara Hadid building and very nice slick interior decor, inside Hyde Park. Very nice Italian food menu , eclectic enough to accommodate a small bite, a brunch , a lunch or a dinner. The food was good and tasty. The service was a mix of good an less good. you may want to come with your kitten 🐱 as there was a couple of little mice 🐭 wandering inside the restaurant which the staff did not look bothered by.
Very open and airy inside. There were a lot of kids so looks good for families.
Late lunch on Sunday - we were a bit uncertain having explored previous reviews. In the event we had a very good lunch - service was good from our arrival onwards, food was well cooked and we were treated with respect - and top ups - at the table. We'll return.
I would if you want to take a dog or kids or baby, but it felt less than this time. Not great.
The food was good but the service was poor from one member of staff. Our order was taken professionally by a young lady with a dark pony tail (no problem with this lady). We had ordered tap water which did not appear so I collected a jug myself. We had also ordered olives and bread to share between 4 of us. The olives arrived promptly but with no bread. After a further 10 minutes I went to the counter and asked the other lady with fair hair about the bread. She just curtly replied “Yes” with no apology. She eventually sauntered over to the kitchen area to get It. We then realised we needed small plates to dip our bread into the oil and balsamic vinegar. When requested these were casually served in an abrupt manner. The restaurant was very quiet so there was no excuse for this. Our main courses were served politely by a bearded gentleman. It was just the one lady who spoilt our lunch. Maybe there is a language problem.
Calamari was inedible, the burger was quite bad, altogether a poor experience and I usually enjoy Chucs
Relaxed Italian style restaurant excellent food and service interesting ambience and on a sunny day the Terrace is difficult to beat
Yes and no would I recommend it - the building is stunning. The service was helpful and friendly. However the food was luke warm at best and there were very few people in there.
All good food good. Service good. Wine good although a bit pricey
Its the Service clearly missing. Starters served but no the Wine. Maincours very late and the Tip not justified
Very lovely, characterful building and tasty food. Perfect! :)
Out of the item I ordered .....and it was 6:00 and only one other table in the place, how could they be sold out?
Waited 20 minutes to get a drink
We visited for Sunday lunch after a prom recital at the Albert Hall. The setting is wonderful and the architecture brilliant. The interior is well designed and looks sophisticated and friendly at the same time. It is also very light because of the wonderful design of the architecture. The place was quite busy, feeling very Italian with many families with children. The food and wine we had were excellent. The waiters were attentive to detail and very good. I would recommend this restaurant.
Could have stayed for hours gorgeous setting excellent service
Chucs in Notting Hill is one of our favourite restaurants, so we were looking forward to try this one in Serpentine as a family. Our food was served lukewarm and tasted bland. Both the pasta for my daughter and the melanzane parmigiana was cooked before (for the latter maybe a day or two old) and poorly re-heated before being served. Presentation on the plate was school dinner style. Bare and messy. Our son's steak tasted good, and the only dish which was cooked competently but at £29 and served with only chips, it was not good value. The waiter recommended that we try the tiramisu, so we did. It is by far one of the worst tiramisu's we had in our lives. Everyone at the table took one small spoon and left it. Creamy / lardy with limited flavour, more like what one used to find in American discount supermarkets in the 90s. In terms of drinks, cocktails and bar menu, they were out of quite a few of the items so we could not quite get what we asked for. The waiter explained that it was because it was a Sunday. I would not think a bar would run out of tonic water or nuts on a Sunday. All in all a huge disappointment. Staff was pleasant enough, but nothing special. I hope they will bring up the Standard of this Serpentine outlet to the ones in Nottinghill and Mayfair.
If I could not select any stars I would - this sums up how poor my experience was at Chucs yesterday.
I regularly dine at Chucs Serpentine & Westbourne Grove and find the food & service very good. However my experience yesterday was not that.
We had poor service throughout. We had to ask for our drinks order to be taken, followed by our food, etc etc.
There was no apple juice for my son, his pasta arrived cold on a boiling plate.
We ordered a bread basket with no flat bread and when asked it arrived on a plate in a million pieces.
The cobb salad arrived with no bacon, brown avocado and cut up into unusually big size pieces, uncharacteristic of the usual cobb salad I order.
Overall, we left hungry and appalled
A very beautiful space, with good food and attentive but not intrusive service.
Service dreadful. Food took over an hour before unordered bread was put on the table (complimentary) Quality of food very poor and the whole place is filthy. Dirty and stained chairs and carpet. Will not be retuning.
Really disappointed with our brunch experience this morning. First up, offered water which didn’t arrive, second waiter asked again for drinks order, off he went, then another one came to ask about drinks - seemed to be a bit of confusion about who was looking after us. When we ordered our food, it took half an hour to arrive, and when it finally it came one order was wrong. When the error was pointed out the waiter argued about it instead of apologizing and rectifying it. Generally unhelpful staff (and this one downright rude). Really, he was sort of accusing my friend of not knowing what she ordered! He even went and got the menu again and made her point out what she’d ordered. So the other three of us ordered eggs Benedict, And we got what we ordered - but it was cold. Guess it was sitting waiting for someone to bring it to us for a good 10 mins or so. We did bring this to a staff member’s attention, and at least they knocked off the cost of drinks from our bill. And at £5 a pop for a very small glass of orange juice, this was, I suppose, a reasonable sort of compensation. I should say if the eggs Benedict had been served hot, they would have been excellent - perfectly poached eggs, great hollandaise sauce and really nice ham, on English muffins as they should be (but not always the way they are everywhere). The space is lovely and it should have been a really enjoyable experience catching up with our friends here, but it just wasn’t. Probably won’t be going back here again. Boo.
The venue is spectacular, the food was average. The burger was quite good, the Cob salad was a bit weird but acceptable.
Busy Sunday lunch, the atmosphere were amazing and the servers polite and helpful, really good menu and nicely served
Not overly impressed despite the stunning building. Companion rejected first choice of meal as sub-standard, looked skimpy and unappetising, looked as if same sauce used on eggs benedict as on calamari - was this bottled mayonnaise? Waitress did not offer drinks menu (would have asked for it if we had wanted to drink anything other than water). Front of house welcoming but food only so-so.
Server was very friendly and kind, the ambience was great. When we got our food it was decent, french fries came out extremely salty so I asked if they can check if it was really salty or was just salty in my taste. Manager came over and took away the french fries and offered a new french fries with less salt. Which was a kind gesture. But I was little annoyed how chefs (people behind the kitchen) couldn't stop taking about it, assuming we cant understand what they are saying. Ugh.
However, I would like to give more stars for the server and the manager. Thanks!
We had a terrible meal. We ordered various things (there were 6 of us). Waiter kept on coming back to say not available.
Very bad service.
We had been once before when it was OK.
My pizza was awful. Too thick dough , not enough topping
Lovely location, pleasant restaurant.
So disappointing specially as we had visitors from NY
The pasta was exceptional, the external architecture amazing, however the interior and service was really bad! It felt like a cafeteria at a cheaper shopping centre and basically no service.
It was my wife’s birthday and a little embarrassing. They knew it was our special day, and did nothing...almost comical how they seemed to ignore us.
It was a shame given the location, the pasta, cocktails and white wines being soooo good.
The Cobb salad was over rated and over priced. £18 for a very basic salad, and I would stick to small serves of the pastas or pizzas.
Such a shame service and interior was so average, given location abc pasta quality.
We came at chucs from first time in london, we been last years in saint troipez ,
Everything were amazing, food really taste and servers polite and helpfuls
Lovely food. The waiting staff were very good but overstretched..take note manager! We didn’t order pudding as we felt we had already been sitting down too long.
Usually spot for me and my family on Sunday , new menu really good, service really good
I came to this restaurant two years ago and had a delicious meal which, although on the expensive side, was interesting and beautifully presented. Saturday's lunch bore no comparison (except for the expense). I had a plate of salad which was all chopped up and arranged in segments as if to serve to an elderly person with no teeth, which came with so little salad dressing I had to ask for more. And the ingredients certainly wouldn't have added up to more than a few pounds so why I was charged £18 for the plate I have no idea. I certainly won't be going back to this restaurant any time soon. Very poor value for money. On the upside, the waiters were friendly and helpful.
