    What a gem Cocotte is, such a cozy space, with plenty of ambience and warmth. The steak frites were delicious, and the banana creme brulee was magic. We will be back!

    Amazing as always. Love this neighborhood gem. Had some friends visiting from Canada and of course I had to take them to a quintessential SF resto in Russian Hill.

    The Waiter was delightful. I accidentally spilled some wine and he was so gracious concerning my folly. The Coq au Vin was comforting and all the food was very good. It’s a pretty venue but rather loud.

    Dining here was an absolute delight. It was a quiet Wednesday evening, with only one gentleman serving. We were still very well attended too, and the cozy ambience made for a spectacular backdrop for the wonderful food! Escargot, chicken liver mousse and the osso bucco were all great! We’ll be back for the Beef Wellington

    I was planning a date night with my husband, and the choice fell on Cocotte. I was dreaming to eat Wellington steak, I had experience to try it before. The steak was good, but unfortunately not as I expected. Good for my husband he had his and then the rest of mine. I was really surprised by a special dish of the day. Oh my God! That was amazing! The same for a chocolate fondant, red wine and a potato/cheese gratin! Bravo to the Chef! There was also a live music band on Saturday. Made that evening super romantic. Oh, and the last, but not the least, the service was incredible, both waiters were attentive and friendly. Definitely can recommend this place and will be back for more! Thank you!

    They delivered on our mention of our anniversary, gave us a cozy, secluded, table. They missed with the menu scripting not reflecting the actual appetizer composition, something missing that was not communicated and was central to why we ordered it. The scallop small plate could have used something more in all that endive to make the flavor of the endive pop; no balance to the fat in the dressing. The chicken liver and crostini plate was superb, not many times in one's life you actually get tasty crostinis and plenty of them. Could have used more pickled onion as my wife stole a handful, very tasty also. My favorite gripe is the awful fillet in the Wellington, I don't remember if I was asked for a doneness, if I was, I would have said medium rare, came out blood rare. The meat was also tough, had very chewy connective tissue still in it, made for a really unpleasant experience. Left half of it. Did not have dessert and I'm not inclined to return. The staff was pleasant and attentive enough. We wish them well.

    The website is poorly designed: we were mislead when the prix fixe menu is only available at certain occasions and during "restaurant week". They left the doors open all night so we had to keep our jackets while eating because it was cold. They had a "musician" who played some loud and obnoxious music. When he finished playing he went among tables collecting tips in a cardboard box: totally unprofessional and inappropriate, I was SHOCKED!!! I had the halibut which was very good. My friend had the osso buco that was not cooked enough and he had to struggle in order to separate the meat from the bone.

    Really lovely neighborhood restaurant. We shared quite a few small plates and the server was quite knowledgeable in helping us navigate as to how many to order. Everything was coursed as we had the cozy little two top in the corner, which was delightful. Delicious, all of them.

    We took our daughter for a French bistro experience before going to see Les Mis (her Christmas present). Cocotte was perfect. We all loved the food (chicken liver mousse, escargot, mussels and osso bucco), the staff was super attentive and atmosphere was great with a live 2person music act.

    Cocotte is a great neighborhood restaurant on Hyde St. Parking was easy on the street. But maybe we were lucky. It’s a cozy restaurant, French food. Everything is tasty and delicious. Onion soup could have been a little hotter. They have a great selection of small plates and entrees. Outdoor seating is a little noisy because when the cars go by the area rattles. Maybe the restaurant could tighten so of the outdoor booth area to reduce the rattling noise. Overall it’s a nice restaurant!

    Absolutely loved this restaurant. We sat in table 1 in the small nook and it was so cute and special. Loved the staff and the food was incredible. Fun place to share plates and try bites of everything. Didn’t get dessert this time so will have to come back again!

    Such a disappointing visit. It was my first and will be last. I was excited to book what was described as a neighborhood gem, and we love French food, so we brought our family here. I really should've tried before I decided to do so. What seemed like their signature dish, the wellington, was well done. I used my phone's flashlight to check because it was so chewy. French onion soup was mild, and the broth itself had minimal flavor. Now on to the service part. They seated 3 of us on one side of the table when it's suitable for 2 people. I wouldn't really call anything we got as "service", felt like the interactions were what you'd expect at casual restaurants. Perhaps my expectations were too high.

    Zach our waiter was fantastic!!! From the moment I called Cocotte I felt fully taken care of. It is very rare these days to get such great service and this small, lovely bistro delivered! They sat us in a quiet, little curtained off, red lit room for my birthday. There was a small sign on the table w/my name on one side and Happy Birthday written in French in the other. It was delightful and beautiful. Zach explained the menu with detail and kindness. I had a kid royal & my husband ordered the Rosé. Both lovely. Then we opted for the salmon appetizer which was subtle and delicate. It would have been lovely to have more horse radish in the sauce, but the brioche was delish. Then we ordered the beef Wellington and mussels & fries. The mussels and fries were fabulous. The beef Wellington would have used more flavor & the sauce w/it tasted of black licorice- perhaps on purpose, but it was not to our liking. The beef was cooked well. For dessert we had the banana creme brûlée & the apple Tarte Tatin. Both were good, but too sweet in the end. Overall we would return to this special, little spot and try a few more of the yummy looking starters- like the waffle & the chicken pâté. Thank you for making my birthday so special!!! I love all things French and this place felt like a little bistro in Paris!!!

    The food was surprisingly good! Went for 2023 SF Restaurant Week and thoroughly enjoyed my choices - truffle tremor goat cheese beignet, the beef filet mignon wellington, and both the banana creme brulee and apple tarte tatin. Others in my party tried the seared rainbow trout and crusted tuna carpaccio and also enjoyed these dishes!

    Cocotte was surprisingly wonderful The beef wellington was great. The creme brulee was fabulous. The service was truly outstanding. We asked for extra sauce to take home that was with the beef wellington and we were given it. The food came out very quickly and we ate in less than an hour even though the restaurant was packed and there was a long line waiting.

    This little French gem of a restaurant is wonderful. My meal was delicious and I especially loved my side dish of Ratatouille! The host and waiter were very attentive. We sat outside with a heater to warm us up. The wine was great...and the music superb! the Tim Shea trio, Hypsteria, was perfect with some French songs thrown in.
