Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant - Reston
Always a good time at Cooper's Hawk! Food was slow coming out this time, which isn't normally the case, even on a busy Friday evening, but our waiter was great, the food was delicious, and the wine was wonderful.
Tried here when they first opened and was underwhelmed but went twice this week - WOW. Overall food was excellent, appetizers to die for! My meal of crab cakes was fishy tho :( Service went beyond fantastic, fun atmosphere. I am a big fan now!
The lunch was good (ordered off the Reston Food Week menu), particularly the lobster and crab bisque.
Worst Experience - Slow Slow Slow Loud Loud Loud Large portions of Mediocre food However the Waitress was Pleasant when she manages to show up .. . Never Again!!!
Pleasant friendly service, wine was surprisingly good for the price, appetizers were great especially the ahi tuna being one of the best I’ve had, entrees were decent, very nice dessert options. You get a lot of quality food and drink for the price so it’s worth checking out, will definitely be back
I always have problems with slow service at this location. Food was good with large quantities but we waited at least thirty minutes after we were done for the waitress to take our dessert order. Four of our party had opted for restaurant week menus that included dessert. It was at least another thirty minutes before we got our dessert to go, plus they were out of the chocolate cake. Then it took a while to get our check. The restaurant is very noisy but we could at last here each other towards the end as most of the tables around us had left. I don’t understand the poor service. I even asked a manager several times about getting our desserts.
Cooper Hawk has a variety of appetizers and entrees to please a wide variety of people. They has have excellent wine pairings with all the foods which were very good. Service was very good and the waiter provided good service
Great food, good service despite how busy it was. A little noisy for our groups liking though.
Did not realize that it was "restaurant week" in Reston when I booked. The restaurant was crowded and diners were loud. They had a fixed price menu available which was quite reasonable. The appetizer (Southwest egg rolls) was excellent and the serving very generous. I should have stopped there. The entre gnochi with pancetta, mushrooms, and parmasan was overly salty and the gnochi were chewey. Dessert (creme brule) was acceptable, but nothing special. Wines were good, although the salty entre affected the enjoyment of the chardonay. I see lots of potential for good dining and excellent wine at this restaurant. Just not during restaurant week.
We have gone here several times without issues. This past time the service was very slow, waiter hard to hear and our appetizer cold. Diner was great but took forever.
Very nice experience, with wonderful recommendation of wines - delicious food. Noise level was a bit high
Celebrating the birth of our first grandchild!! Joshua, our server made us feel very special!!
Service was excellent. Food is usually very good and was this evening.
Restaurant tends to be very noisy, making conversation difficult.
Excellent service by Paris and the flatbread was great!
We loved our waiter. Think his name was Nate. Great food as always!
Great food and service!!! We really enjoyed sitting outside and thought it was a wonderful dining experience!
We asked to sit outside which may have been a mistake. The service seemed slow on Saturday night. We’re not quite certain if it was the norm for a Saturday night but definitely a bit slower than usual. The food seemed alright, delicious but perhaps impacted by the wait staff having a little too much on their hands there by causing things to wait. The food was still tasty but not quite the norm we’ve come to expect at Cooper’s Hawk.
Excellent service! Briea? Gave us an excellent and enjoyable wine tasting at the wine bar. Her energy and charisma were a great start to a wonderful evening. Our server was prompt, professional, and very funny. Bisque and Calamari were both superb. My date loved her mojito. Will definitely be back and thank you for showing us a wonderful evening
I do not ordinarily give 5 stars across the board but Copper’s Hawk nailed it!! I suggested this restaurant to my co-workers so I was hoping for a good experience. Everyone walked away fully satisfied.... thank you for exceeding our expectations!
Great as always!!
We love Cooper's Hawk and are wine club members there. I do wish their selection of menu wines would change periodically. As club members, we're able to get a class of whatever wine is offered that month, but we'd be able to do that in a tasting so I'd love to order my flight selection with new wines to try. The food is always wonderful and our server last time was excellent, as usual. My only complaint is the noise level is quite loud.
Loved the food and ambience as always, my friend's birthday was a wonderful occasion for us to celebrate :)
Reasonable prices and good food. Did not find menu to be culinarily exotic. There were 5 in our party and as a business group it worked well to cover the diversity of the group.
We were a party of five seated at a booth. For a business lunch, it was too confining and uncomfortable.
A fun place to go...wine tastings are extremely good and they always have a monthly featured red and white wine. The food menu is expansive and the quality is very good. A great get together spot!
Everything was great except a little noisy but I knew that.
We were greeted pleasantly upon arrival. We set outside and the atmosphere was nice.
Our food took way too long. The Brussel sprouts appetizer arrived cold. The server apologized and said that it went to the wrong table. What does that mean? Did it sit there until someone realized it didn’t belong?
Our main courses arrived some time after the appetizer and were barely warm. I left most of my food. Very disappointing lunch at a high cost.
Love this restaurant. The food, wine, and service is always wonderful.
The Reston location was generally a disappointment. I have been to a number of Cooper's Hawk Restaurants in and around Chicago and I was looking forward to visiting our local reston location. However, the Reston location does not compare in terms of layout, ambiance and service. The restaurant has several rooms jammed with tables with lots of servers and helps constantly on the move. Many tables, and almost all tables for six or more, are in high traffic areas. The whole set up takes away from the ambiance as does the freezing temperature of the restaurant and the inability of anyone to fix the issue. More importantly, the service was poor: drinks and food took a long time to appear, our waitress disappeared for long periods of time, and our meals came out at different times with 5-10 between one arriving and then another arriving. They can and should do better.
Great service! Made Moms birthday special
I was very disappointed in the quality of food and service. This is my go to restaurant but this time the service was extremely slow and food was not prepared well. The restaurant also smelled like mold, probably from the mops and cloths used to clean.
Good food and great service! One of our favorite places to dine.
Coppers was very good but we indicated we were celebrating a special occasion and despite being the most dressed up patrons, we were brought to a four-top that hasn’t been wiped down and was missing a chair and the other chairs were in disarray. I had to ask for our table to be moved to a booth where we were more comfortable.
Our server was very kind and excellent at keeping us full of wine/water and food. He made up for the initial bad first impression.
I recommend this place only because the food was great. The service was slow. We sat for almost 30 minutes before we had to ask a waitress to find out who our server was. She was nice enough to take out appetizer order and bring water until she found out who was supposed to serve us. Even after that we still had to wait a bit. Our waiter was nice when he finally got around to us.
Chose the venue based on a previous experience and I had a bottle waiting for me for the month of September in addition to a THANK YOU bottle for their wine club members.
Close to the Next Stop Theater in Herndon we made a quick reservation for the group and shared an amazing meal and conversation. The noise level can get a little high when the tasting bar is crowded but we made the best of it.
Server recommended the halibut and she was right on with that recommendation. It paired well with the Torrantes wine we selected for our meal and everyone was completely satisfied when the meal was over with. What do you do when the meal is done...dessert of course and the homemade S'Mores was to die for. Hope you enjoy your Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant experience in Reston too.
Coopers Hawk is a great place to catch up with friends over amazing food! I get the Dana’s Parmesan Crusted Chicken every time! The lunch portions are the best value.
We always enjoy going there!! The food is fabulous and the wine is wonderful!!! Our service was great!! I got the scallops they we some of the best I’ve had!!! My husband got the surf and turf New York strip and grouper it was very good but the portions were very small
This was my first visit at this location and it was fabulous. I enjoyed meeting new members during my tastings and the servers recommendations. I had dinner with a bottle of wine (that was suggested) and my guests and I had the best time. We drove from Andrews Air Force Base and chose this location as a way of trying an new location other than Annapolis, MD.
We will be back!
An enjoyable restaurant with consistently delicious fare and a nice presentation.
The staff is friendly and accommodating, they respond well to a quick meal or a slow leisurely one. The wine tastings at the table make CH distinctive and always delights the folks we bring as first time guests.
