Da Flora is an Italian restaurant that sits just on the outskirts of North Beach in San Francisco. Locals cherish this beloved restaurant for the painstakingly prepared meals and romantic atmosphere. During dinner service, the Murano glass chandelier is dimmed to create the perfect ambience for an intimate dinner, while the candlelit tables invite guests to sit and relax for a delicious meal.
Da Flora's Chef Jen McMahon has traveled extensively through the Italian countryside and urban centers to perfect her special brand of cooking. Her dishes take the heart and soul from traditional recipes and infuse them with a personality all their own. House-made sweet potato gnocchi in a sherry cream sauce with bacon and sage as well as Sicilian rosa bianca eggplant caponata crostini are perfect examples of the unique perspective Da Flora brings to the plate.
One of our favorites when visiting SF. Always great!
We went to Da Flora for my fiancee's birthday. Da Flora was a win across the board! The food was excellent, from apps to entrees to homemade bread.
The service was also wonderful--our server was friendly and made some amazing recommendations. They were even able to accommodate us when we needed to add two more friends to our party.
A fantastic gem in the heart of North Beach. Great Venetian-inspired dishes and a small but well-curated wine list.
Da Flora has very good food, the service is excellent and it is possible to talk rather than shout. All of this in a comfortable room , pleasantly decorated. I can't ask for much more.
A gem of a restaurant. Quiet, airy, attentive service, excellent food. Could not have been more pleasantly surprised.
A charming restaurant with lovely ambiance and delicious food! Service was warm and excellent. A definite neighborhood gem! My husband and I had the asparagus appetizer, spaghetti carbonara, pork chop and dessert. Everything was fantastic. Highly recommend!
This place is magical. Best pasta I’ve had since my trip to southern Italy two years ago. Nicest staff. Wonderful experience all around.
Charming, warm, delicious and authentic. Great for an intimate dinner or special occasion.
Jen and Darren are attentive and genuine! Or meal was spectacular. A truly lovely experience!
Charming ambiance and great food
I have been coming here since 1998 for the delicious, thoughtfully prepared food and welcoming atmosphere. The handmade pastas are so delicious! I was in town with my teenage son for his spring break, and I was excited to introduce him to Da Flora. He loved it of course, and we’ll be back again with the whole family - hopefully soon!
Always great food and service!
We loved this restaurant. First time there, but it won’t be the last!
Family owned and wonderful staff. Food was delicious, and the ambience was lovely, friendly and comfortable. It’s on Columbus near Filbert. I eat out all the time, but this was one of the best total dining experiences I’ve had in a long tome.
A great little North Beach neighborhood restaurant. Their risotto is one of -- if not the -- best in San Francisco. Good affordable wine selection.
Superb service, wonderfully accommodating, and with a menu to match. Just a truly lovely evening, thank you.
Charming atmosphere with a creative menu and delicious food.
Delicious meal in a quiet, intimate atmosphere. You feel Ike you are the only customer they are serving. The service was fantastic. Our waiter recommended an excellent wine pairing, and the risotto and gnocchi were delicious. Will definitely go back again when I’m in Dan Francisco
Great food. Lovely happy service. The wonder is lovely. A tiny bit rushed but I assume that is because we had a 6pm res on a Friday night and they needed to get a second and possibly third seating in.
My wife and I have been coming here for years and it never disappoints. The pastas are so delicate and fresh. The salads are very creative. Even the wine selections are first rate, and reasonably priced. The husband and wife team are gracious, knowledgeable and very approachable. Food of this quality is often accompanied by a pretentious air. Da Flora is such a comfortable place it is like going to a good friend's house - except this is a friend who is an amazing chef.
We took some out of town visitors and everyone loved this resturant
Love Da Flora. The ambiance and food are terrific.
Lovely experience from start to finish!
Small but interesting menu; wait staff is friendly and attentive. Our sense was that there were a lot of local regulars who appreciated the quality of the restaurant. Definite return visit.
Amazing service, atmosphere and food!!!! Will definitely revisit again!
Always the first restaurant we go to in San Francisco and it never disappoints. Great atmosphere and service. Get the gnocchi and try something you wouldn’t ordinarily order because it’s going to taste great. The wines are good.
Intimate, eclectic, warm & welcoming, Da Flora is one of the brightest gems in a city of fabulous restaurants. Every dish is a star (warning: don't pass up the gnocchi), the small wine list is carefully chosen to beautifully pair with the food and the service is impeccable.
This remains one of my favorite restaurants in the city! From the decor to the tastes to the delightful waitstaff and chef every detail is considered while not pretentious. I was also very happy to see Flora herself there as a customer the last time I visited. A very unique and special place full of creativity and art.
Outstanding experience. Our waiter was fantastic and very engaging. Would highly recommend.
A perfect evening, with superior service, food and ambience. We loved every moment. This is a special place with attention to every detail. Simply lovely.
Very small and intimate with a limited menu (which is good). We ordered a variety of entrees and each one was delicious.
We had a wonderful anniversary dinner at Da Flora. Our food was incredible and our server, Christopher, was excellent.
I love going to Da Flora. They are so warm and welcoming, have very good food and wine, and it's quiet and charming. What more could one ask?
I've reviewed Da Flora before, and am back to reassure on some points and to register some loving criticism on others. It is still a terrific place for a quiet conversation, romantic date, or friendly get-together. The owners (who I believe are the chef and the sole waiter) are still as friendly as can be, and take very good care of the customers. But in previous visits the tastes seemed a bit more strong and intriguing, whereas this time everything -- from the porchetta slices in a tuna sauce, which sounded amazing on the menu, to the butterscotch pudding -- was a little muted, verging on bland. Portions were smaller, while prices remain high -- not stupid high, but I'd expect a little more for what I was paying.
I still love this place and will still come back, but if they're reading this, I hope this was just an off night.
I really loved the service and the atmosphere— it was absolutely lovely. The disappointment really came with the food. I ordered the mushroom and ricotta crepes. I was told it will be awhile because it’s made fresh, which was fine, but it certainly was not worth the wait. The flavor was a absent and it was a shame. The wine was fantastic, but I preferred the bread and oil.
Our long time favorite Italian restaurant in SF. Still as good as ever!
This place is a gem. Small, intimate neighborhood restaurant with great wine and food. The menu is limited and varies. Wines, starters, mains and desserts are designed to allow you to create a wonderful dining experience. The night of our visit, Diver Scallops were on the menu. They were perfectly seasoned and cooked (very difficult with scallops!), and on a bed of pureed celery root. Our table had 3 of the 6 secondis and they were all delicious. Desserts were amazing and made in-house. My butterscotch pot du crème was smooth and delicious. The service is warm, gracious and attentive, and we were not rushed in any way. We loved Da Flora and would absolutely recommend it for an intimate meal with a special person or real friends who you want to actually talk to during dinner!
One of our favorite restaurants in San Francisco. Truly wonderful Venetian cuisine.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant! One of our must go-to dining experiences whenever we are in SF. The gnocchi is the best we’ve ever had!! Service is impeccable and the owners friendly and approachable (not to mention being awesome chefs)!
Real neighborhood gem. Great food! Small and intimidate
