Located at the foot of Portland’s arts district on Monument square, Portland Maine David Turin, Chef / Owner moved David’s to this historic location in 1998. The restaurant is tastefully and creatively decorated update to the “Great Fire” surviving building which housed the presses for The Portland Telegram Newspaper at the turn of the century. The open kitchen allows diners to watch the creation of meals which feature the bounty of regional resources prepared without culinary boundaries. David’s cuisine has one foot in tradition and another in the contemporary influences of many of the world’s great cuisines.

Food is delicious! Outdoor dining if not ideal as isn’t in the best part of Portland. I prefer the indoor ambience for this restaurant.
But the food is so good.. we opted to dine her anyhow!

Food was good. Potsticker appetizer and pizza were great! I had a NY Strip special that was rare instead of medium and it was overdressed with stuff.....demi, Bleu cheese, caramelized onions, etc. Overkill. Steak wasn't great but overall meal was good and I'll try it again for indoor dining. Service was great!

Our food was amazing, and the desserts were out of this world. We got the open faced lobster ravioli and the “mashed” ice cream. WOW!

David's at Monument Square provided a very safe dining environment on their patio with the set up and guidelines.

The food & service, as always, was perfect and it made for a great change being able to eat out.

The service, do not remember her name, but she's been a waitress/staff member at David's as long as we've been in Portland (20+ yrs) and per usual provided exceptional service.

Cocktails were awesome too!

Thank you David Turin and staff for making the experience at David's a safe, comfortable and delicious event. It felt great to get back out to enjoy one of our favorite restaurants!

As usual David’s crushed it. So glad to be able to dine there again, take out just isn’t the same. Apps, meals and garlic knots were delicious. Can’t wait to go back soon!

Food was great. Outdoor dining was the option. A cooler evening in Portland. By the time the food arrived at our table, it had cooled off quite a bit. We appreciated the precautions that the restaurant has taken with regards to COVID-19. All in all, it was a positive experience for our first time dining at David’s

Everything was delicious! It was our first time out to a restaurant in months. We had a wonderful experience! From the amazing margarita to the desserts, it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had!

Love love the chowder so I got a cup to go. I’ve done it before and had the same portion. I received a 12 oz cup with less than half cup filled and instead of the 9.25 menu price I was charged 13.00??? Really didn’t sit well with me. Will never do that again. Feel ripped off

I'm very sorry about your experience with the togo chowder. As a result of your comment, which is completely correct, I've changed out "togo" options for chowder to appropriately priced pint or quart portions. I am really sorry you had that experience. Let us know next time you're in and we'll send you home with some chowder to make up for the error.

Absolutely delicious combinations of flavors that can't be repeated at home!! The arugula salad is the best I've ever had, the mushroom ravioli is tender, full of body. The cocktails are substantial. What a nice lunch!

We had a great dinner! The garlic knots were amazing and I had the Mexican Chocolate cake! It was so good. We sat at the table top and got to talk with Chef Ian. He was very friendly and seemed very interested in how we liked our dinner. He was great and enjoyed our conversation with him.

Food was very very good. The only thing that would have made the experience better was if our table for two wasn’t so cramped. It was hard to move in and out as there was a party of 4 invading our space a bit. But service was solid and restaurant week menu was a good value!

We were seated by the entry hallway which was not connected all the way to the wall, so every time the door opened we got a blast of cold air, the appetizers were great and the garlic knots were amazing, but the main courses were nothing special. They weren't bad, but not great either and lacked anything really outstanding with them. The sangria was not good, it lasted like regular red wine that had an orange wedge in it. Was disappointed there wasn't anything amazing from this, the menu looked great and we were super excited to try it. Service was great, however. Would go back and maybe sit at the bar for some drinks and apps, but not rushing back

Food was amazing and the service was excellent. We arrived early and the hostess found a place for us right away.

Really great value for top level food, we were surprised that our dinner for two, which includes apps, two main dishes, a bottle of wine and desserts was only about $150.

The dishes were so good, creative and complex but not overdone. Kudos to the chef!

We took a coworker to David's to celebrate her birthday. There were 8 of us in the party.
We had excellent service and would highly recommend David's lunch time buffet.
Lunch time is busy in the Portland area and David's does a wonderful job of meeting your needs and time constraints.

I would note that it is important to make a reservation even if there are only two of you .

We loved our evening with friends. The service was pleasant and prompt, including the hostesses. Food was great - I did not need the salad to be so large when it was just the first course. Also felt there was too much blue cheese on it. Fish was superb - perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf!!! Thanks for a great evening!
