We took a coworker to David's to celebrate her birthday. There were 8 of us in the party.
We had excellent service and would highly recommend David's lunch time buffet.
Lunch time is busy in the Portland area and David's does a wonderful job of meeting your needs and time constraints.
I would note that it is important to make a reservation even if there are only two of you .
Great place to meet up with friends. Place was bustling.
We loved our evening with friends. The service was pleasant and prompt, including the hostesses. Food was great - I did not need the salad to be so large when it was just the first course. Also felt there was too much blue cheese on it. Fish was superb - perfectly cooked. My husband enjoyed the meatloaf!!! Thanks for a great evening!
We had a wonderful meal and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.
Another wonderful dinner. We just love going to David’s every time we visit Portland. Open Faced Lobster Ravioli!!
Never disappoints! Delicious cocktails and meal. A staple in Portland.
This is on of my "go to" restaurants in Portland. No matter what I order, my expectations are always exceeded.
The Mediterranean Bruschetta and haddock with peaky-toe crab were amazing. I had the mushroom pizza, prepared vegan and it was also very good. The whole experience was great. We will definitely be going back.
Gods, as always, was delicious. However, the staff was a bit inattentive which was disappointing. Forks were not replaced between courses and the table was not cleaned when some items had spilled on it. Also, our server looked over at our table a few times before coming over to follow up. Overall, things were fine, but not what was expected.
Beautiful spot in Monument Square. Established restaurant with old-school service and modern tastes. A delight.
My partner and I were dining at David’s as a slightly post Valentine’s Day dinner. We had heard a lot of positive things about the restaurant and were very much looking forward to our dinner. It did not disappoint. There was a good variety of food choices on the menu. The food in the service were excellent, and the atmosphere very nice. We were in the back portion of the restaurant, so it was a bit quieter, which was nice. We would definitely return to David‘s.
Nice restaurant and I want to try other items and the best recommendation I can give to a first time visit is that definitely would want to go back. I definitely want to go back!
We had a great meal with wonderful service however it was quite noisy, the tables are close together and we had a loud group next to us. But overall it was excellent.
What a great experience. It couldn’t have been better! Drinks apps and entrees were Perfection. Get the crispy Brussels sprouts!!!!!
The food was incredible! And the service was impeccable
Amazing!! It was very difficult to decide what to order because we wanted EVERYTHING!! The kale salad and arugula salad were so good. All 4 of us were happy, surprised and pleased at the creativity and local sourcing, and satisfied!
This is easy. The food is excellent and the service was solid. The thing that almost ruined the experience is the same thing I see time and time again... and am so perplexed as to why it EVER happens. Our wonderful hot meals were served on (in) COLD PLATES. I understand that most of America gobbles their food and this is probably rarely an issue, but, for a slow eater that wants his food to stay (at least) warm... the cold plate sucks the heat out of the food in about 5 minutes. Every kitchen can heat their plates. I realize that waiters don't learn to carry trays any more (or use plate covers), but they can learn to use a napkin to carry the plates by the edge (which is not proper anyway). Don't get lazy with this... you have an opportunity to stand out from the rest of your peers in Bon Appetite's BEST restaurant city. HOT PLATES with hot food. Cold (same as room temp esp. in the winter) with cold food. I know you know it, but don't discount it. Thanks!
Service was wonderful! Food was incredible and atmosphere was perfect to celebrate my birthday! Will definitely come back on my next trip to Portland!
Wonderful food- I knew what I wanted to order when I walked in as I had the item several years ago and couldn’t get it out of my mind! AND it was as wonderful as I had remembered! Our server was very helpful and brought us the garlic knots when I asked about them. And gave us a treat to bring home!
I wanted to have the lunch buffet but the cramped seating didn't allow me.
The food was great. Service great We enjoyed the restaurant very much. It’s a small space so close but the noise level was fine and the food and service worth it. We have eaten here before and will go again.
Great food, service and drinks
We had a wonderful long lunch at David's, our server was very attentive and the food and wine was amazing!
Even with an issue with our Open Table reservation the Hostess was able to work us into a table. The food, table wait staff were Excellent! Will definitely go again!
Fabulous meal and server (Kim) ....thanks so much (and see you in a few weeks)!
Everything was delicious, as always!
I had a very happy birthday-
It has been years since we have been to David’s and it did not disappoint. I have the mushroom ravioli and my husband had the haddock, they were both delicious
We spent a January, Saturday night with friends at David's. The service was excellent from the moment we arrived 20 minutes early!
Between the four of us we covered a good selection of the menu. Including salads, mussels, risotto, haddock, salmon cakes, tuna tartar, brussel sprouts and of course a dessert!
Our thoughts...overall delicious and would certainly return. The evening we went there appeared to be a heavy influence on Thai seasoning with many of our choices seasoned with coconut and ginger. Thinking the 'seasoning' may change with the season! Will have to go back to check!
This was our first time here and we were very impressed. Great food, drink and service. I had the open faced ravioli with lobster, shrimp and scallop and he had the cod. Both were very good. We'll be back, for sure.
Overall not over-the-moon. Not happy with the cancellation policy.
Brussel Sprout app was fantastic as always. Feeds 2-3 people. Not kidding. Duck was a delight, Filet was excellent as well. Not so sure about the raspberry sauce with the Filet, but made and excellent desert with a second basket of garlic knots. A trifle noisy on Saturday, but not so loud that conversation was difficult. Excellent food, excellent service. Will be back next time we're in Portland.
Good meal. Portion size is small. Had 3 scallops and 3 shrimp on a skewer for $30. Would have been starving without an appetizer and bread.
Had a great time with my husband! David’s is always our favorite place to dine.
Everything about this restaurant was excellent. They have a diverse menu and there are some interesting touches to many of the dishes.
The staff was very well trained and pleasant. The meatloaf devious on a snowy night perfect .Alos great salad beets and arugula . The only problem with the window high seat was very cold blast whenever the door opened . The monument looked extra formidable in the snowy scene. I'd go back!
