Wow, this tea service was a real letdown. The most current menu can be found here: https://qrcodes.pro/KOLg0b#DINNER. No savories or tea is included in the $35 per person sweet decadence. This was truly disappointing. On the bottom plate were lackluster scones, the second tier had two shortbread cookies with apricot jelly & two chocolate truffles. The top tier had two tiny fruit tarts, two slices of opera cake and two finger size pistachio eclairs. Each were disappointing with a lack of flavor and texture. I suspect that the switch to this tea menu is due to a scale down of kitchen staffing due to COVID.
The service was very good and our water glasses were automatically refilled. The tea service began exactly at 3 PM and the bartender directed us to sit on the lobby for the tea service.
Tea was beautiful
We step into the hotel & are not sure where to go. We look around & find someone at reception. I tell her we have reservations for decadence…she doesn’t understand a word I said so I show her my opentable app. She says it’s here (pointing to a dirty used table in the lobby). We look around & no one is around to bus the table. We wait a few mins & ask the concierge. She says come with me to the bar, wait here someone will be with u. We wait another 5 mins & a servers asks in the bar or lobby. Since the lobby was dirty we said bar. Find a clean spot there then eventually the server returns for me to say we are here for “decadence afternoon” he tells us to scan the code on the table then returns with a 3 tier tray of items. The items were not bad but very small amount considering the price. He disappeared for a while. We waved him down to order tea. That eventually came & he again disappeared. Eventually returned before we could flag him down for sweetener. The tea was not good. Overall a massive disappointment. Not worth $99 (before gratuity). And certainly not decadent!
Poor value for the amount and quality of the desserts. Cost for tea was ridiculous given two people sharing one pot. Beautiful setting.
Lovely experience. Service was wonderful!
Service was great. The food was good. But the price was a little much for what was served. I’ve never been to afternoon tea where the pot of tea cost extra.
The desserts were old, bland and completely soggy. Better dessert experience from a kiosk Starbucks. Definitely not in anyway a fine dining or luxurious tea
Didn’t feel this was clearly advertised. $35/person not including a drink for a cute dessert cart. One in our party couldn’t eat off the cart. After ordering tea and a charcuterie board the total was ~200$ with tip for 3 people. The dessert tray was cute, but was expecting a more normal tea setup, not worth the money
There was no High Tea it had been cancelled without any notice. I fear the venerable St Regis is doomed.
It is definitely not the traditional British afternoon tea. It is more like a set of decadent desserts. Everything tasted good, not too sweet and the presentation was great. The service was good but could have better. I believe they might have been understaffs or busy. But the server picked up the service after an hour after we sit
My friends and I enjoyed our visit here. The server was attentive and the food was delicious.
Really enjoyed our Mother's Day tea here! The place was beautiful, the staff was kind and accomodating, and the food/drinks were incredible!
It was an pretty cool experience! The cherry blossom tree was awesome, the service was great. The only small complaint would be that the desserts could be better and fresher, the cupcakes were good but there were still cold probably from sitting in the fridge. Other then that an amazing time.
Beautiful experience for high tea
The experience was very underwhelming and no tea was served so probably will not go to St. Regis again for afternoon tea.
I had a great time. The cherry blossom tree was beautiful. The food was only ok.
Great & Kind service beautiful interior and very comfortable couches!
This experience was absolutely wonderful. Everything from the decor to the service to the food and drink was absolutely divine. Items on the menu are very reasonably priced and high quality. The Decadence Afternoon is worth every penny. I am already looking forward to booking my next tea!
We had a wonderful time! It was so relaxing and the food and drinks were amazing!
We had a fantastic time! The tea and champagne were delicious, as were the pastries. Stephane was a phenomenal server and bent over backwards to make sure we enjoyed our time and had our requests fulfilled. We will be returning to try their afternoon tea service once it starts up again!
We love celebrating at the St. Regis and coming in to see the cherry blossoms each year. Great food, service and ambience!
Wish it was offered as a high tea over just dessert and there were more tea options. The service was amazing, the cherry blossom presentation was breathtaking. I would do this again if tea were offered.
The place was beautiful and quite. I would come back again with my mother.
I wish Exec Chefs would STOP trying to improve the traditional English Afternoon Tea. I want a standard 3-tiered server, not a cheapo plastic tree with desserts hanging from it! Tacky. I want cream cheese & cucumber and egg salad sandwiches, with crust cut off! I want a scone, lemon curd and cream. I know Cherry Blossoms are out, maybe just put some fresh blossoms in a vase? This was just some tiny desserts. The tea was good! The table, far too small.
Next time I'll have tea somewhere more traditional.
My first of many visits..... SUPERB customer service!
Pricey but nice experience
Excellent service & atmosphere. Loved being back at the St.Regis!
A true escape from the madness of the day, very tranquil and the service was excellent ... tea should be served every day ...
We really enjoyed the holiday tea!!!!
Pricey but worth it! Really lovely afternoon - spent about 2 1/2 hours and added a bottle of Moët !
Overall, the afternoon tea at the St.Regis was a let down. Our experience began with a seemingly puzzled concierge instructing us to wait for a table to become available. Despite our reservation, we waited nearly 20 minutes. My wife and I were only then seated—without an apology for the overlong delay—squarely in front of the mains doors, which were left open to let in the 37-degree breeze. The food neither disappointed nor wowed. Unfortunately, the same lackluster service that started the evening continued throughout our tea. Our waiter disappeared throughout most of our time; he did, however, return once—to ask if we wanted the check. Alas, I’ll consider the other hotels in the city before booking the St. Regis for tea again!
A beautiful set up. Best afternoon tea in DC! We were really impressed by it.
