What Insiders Are Saying
Del Posto is one of the best special occasion restaurants in New York City. Think of it like a more upscale Babbo, or Daniel with pasta.
One of the premier restaurants in the United States. Lives up to the hype every single time!
Expense account atmosphere with an emphasis on pushing you through to clear table. Amuse bouche on table immediately after seating. Cocktails slow to arrive and we wanted to finish those before eating anything. Too many people came by too often to try to clear before we ever touched them. Cleared before we even tried them without asking. Approached several times before having our drinks to ask if we wanted to order. Service so “efficient” that almost impossible to understand the rapid fire description of dishes fairly thrown at table - equally speedily removed if you made the mistake of putting utensil down before finishing. Menu/food formulaic. Beautiful setting but pianist who has to be loud to be heard in such a large space makes conversation difficult at reasonable level. Expensive for that kind of rushed treatment.
Banal Italian food cost $500 plus for two. What a waste.
Espectacular!! The place, the service, the food and the ambiance were all superb! Fine dining hard to find! ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍
I thought the food was overrated for the price. The downstairs is very business like and you sit one on top of the other person.
Excellent from the moment we arrived. The entire staff was impressive and attentive. The meal and wine was excellent. Highly recommend the eight course Captains dinner.
This is a fabulous restaurant. The service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. A very creative chef's choice menu did not disappoint.
Really good service
My steak was not tender and my wifes dover sole was over cooked
The food was amazing but they got two of our dishes wrong! Totally unacceptable at that price
Wonderful experience from start to finish.
I have been to Del Posto before and was always impressed. Unfortunately, this time (which was my birthday) I was disappointed primarily with the service. Although we had a number of knowledgeable professionals attending to us, it seemed that we were left unattended more than I would have expected. My dining colleague and I are both gluten free, and the head waiter helped us select gluten free options.
That is always appreciated. The food was good, but not up to the caliber I recall on my last visit. We did receive an extra dessert with a candle in celebration of my birthday. The birthday wish (the plate said happy birthday too) was a nice thought. My appetizer was the Himachi and it was delicious. I ordered a pasta dish as my main course. It was the first pasta dish on the menu and recommended by the waiter. It was extremely rich, but tasty. However, it was lukewarm. I decided not to send it back. My dining partner had the veal and pork pasta with red sauce pasta and it was very good. The desserts were beautifully presented and extremely enjoyable.
a shining example of a perfect culinary experience. service, ambiance, humility, symphony, perfection.. one may run out of the positive adjectives to describe del posto. it was my honor to dine here and cannot wait to go back.
Service and ambiance were spectacular. The wine was wonderful. The courses came too fast - we did ask them to slow down, and they graciously accommodated. My wife’s salad was wonderful, she loved her duck sausage pasta. My octopus was OK, and I was unimpressed with my pasta dish.
Have been going to Del Posto for years and never disappointed. This visit was a special occasion - 41st anniversary of our first date! Del Posto was perfect.
Perfect experience. Really appreciate their wine service.
Probably one of the most affordable (thus, top-value) Michelin-starred dining experience. Presentation was good. Service was outstanding. We also liked the live piano performance.
This is truly one of New York's finest! Great space, Great food, Great Wine list and perfect service.
This place was not really for me. Slow service and food was good but not worth the price. They sat us in a drafty corner even though I made the reservation weeks in advance. We did the captains menu, and had the sol and branzino for mains. We went on the cheaper end for wine, and it showed. Super mediocre. I couldn’t help but wonder if a person was served that meal in another restaurant with less of a reputation, they would never go back.
The dining room is as elegant as it gets, the service sublime, and the food well proportioned and thoughtfully delicious. Top three dining experiences of my life.
Overall excellent experience once you tell the wait staff to not hover.
Amazing food, presentation and ambiance. Nothing else like it in the city.
Incredible. Will dream about it until the next opportunity to dine there. Spectacular food and ambiance.
The dessert was not good and a bit more expensive then what I remembered.
Fantastic. Consistent over the years.
Over the top wonderful, I’m an expat living in Manila @ the time. On a recent visit to NY Del Posto was recommended by a local. I’ve eaten all over the world in the last 30 yrs & I simply can’t remember any better food or service. I would highly recommend this fine establishment.
Quality of the food is tremendous based on modifications of traditional Italian dishes. Very good service as well, with interesting explanations. The dinner flows very slowly with long pauses between dishes. I definitely recommend it.
Absolutely impeccable service and incredible cuisine! We had the 5 course menu and each dish we selected was amazing. Decided to skip the wine pairing this time in order to focus on the food, so one bottle of wine was enough for two of us to enjoy throughout the meal. Will definitely recommend to others and plan to come back in the future!
Glorious in every way. A wonderful Valentine's Day lunch.
Simply the best
Amazing overall experience. Great service. Looking forward to the next visit.
Amazing from start to finish!
Impeccable service, beautiful ambiance, and flavorful cuisine. A very special dining experience!
Met my son for dinner and from start to finish it was great. Staff is top notch. Great choices for both food and wine. Will return soon.
We’ve been here many many times, but it’s my first time
leaving a review. The service is impeccable, and they are always very accommodating to our special requests (modifying/adding courses, etc.) One of our favorite places in nyc.
Everything was outstanding!!!!!
Very much a "hit and miss" experience with the 5 course menu.
While antipasto selections were tasty, some of the pasta entrees were over-processed beyond recognition. Hard to tell whether the Girella Genovese, which came in the form of a hockey puck, was meat, or pasta. Hard cooked on the outside and drizzled with a "pork reduction", it was essentially inedible. The Branzino was processed and manipulated to the point that it was dry and tasteless. The inclusion of guanciale in the dish (sea bass and pork cheek?) was not a plus.
The Bastianich Vespa Rosso wine was a pleasant surprise.
The servers were very friendly and knowledgeable and mitigated our disappointment with the food.
Definitely a "been there, done that experience" for us.
Unlikely to go back.
Absolutely could not have been better. People food atmosphere superb!!
