About this restaurant

  • Great for creative cocktails
  • Romantic
  • Innovative
District Distilling Co. is DC's first distillery, restaurant, and bar all in one incredible location. Situated in a series of historic row-houses at the corner of 14th and U Streets in the heart of one of our city's most vibrant and culturally rich neighborhoods, we offer award-winning spirits and incredible seasonally-inspired food and drink choices.
With a firm grounding in classic cooking technique, Chef Justin Bittner pulls inspiration as well as ingredients from the farms and fisheries of the southern Mid-Atlantic region to create dishes bursting with richness and depth. In our bar, Head Bartender Erin Ivey and her staff create complex and engaging craft cocktails using our full array of house-distilled spirits. And downstairs in our distillery, Master Distiller Matt Strickland keeps us fully stocked with an amazing array of house- distilled spirits, including our Corridor Vodka, Buzzard Point White Rum, Checkerbark American Dry Gin, and Backroom Bourbon.
Cheers! See

Great food and great drinks! Bacon wrapped pork tenderloin was delicious. And the corn bread was worth the trip.

After enjoying a lovely brunch at district distillery, i wanted to check out the dinner. Sadly, the service was absolutely terrible. After being seated it took a waiter 20 minutes to even come to the table. After 45 min after we had ordered drinks and still had not been served we got up and left the restaurant.

I went to District Distilling for brunch with a friend from out of town. I thought the food was great. I got the burger and my friend got the eggs benedict (or their version of it!). Overall, I would definitely recommend it as we had a great time, but at the same time, nothing was just completely outstanding.

The staff were fantastic. Most of the food was perfect - one guest didn’t like the Tuna but the manager was very gracious and interested in how to improve the dish. Paid for her dish too!

District Distilling Co. is delicious Southern comfort food. My friends and I ordered so much food, an entree and multiple sides and the bill was still really affordable. The waitress was also extremely friendly and helpful! There was a little bit of a draft and they immediately brought out a space heater for us.

We came for NYE and had a bumpy start with the less than friendly hostess. Note to management: Your hostess should like people and be welcoming. If the guests ask to be seated somewhere other than the two options she provides and the restaurant is empty, she should at least attempt to accommodate. If guests say they are going to leave, she should at least express regrets. Luckily, after speaking with the manager we were seated and the meal and service were excellent. The cocktails are of course the stars here but the food isn't far behind. I had the Suckling Pig which was flavorful without being overly salty. Deserts were also wonderful although, I wish they had been able to accommodate a decaf coffee. I've also enjoyed brunch here and will most definitely visit again.

Great space, unique, good, custom distilled liquors and good food, BUT some of the service was lacking. The manager and hostess at the podium were not welcoming and friendly. We had a nice waiter who quickly told us he was helping the other waiter who was responsible for the room. The other service staff seemed disorganized, not sure about what their rolls were. The place has been opened long enough that they should have their service perfected ... but the food was pretty good!

This was my second time here. I really enjoyed the first visit, but this second visit not so much. I ordered the special, which was fried chicken and it was awful. The breading on the chicken looked and tasted a little burnt. The meat inside was cooked properly but it just wasn’t very enjoyable to eat. And the sides that came with it were literally the exact same thing that you would get at KFC. The mashed potatoes and cole slaw and biscuit all looked and tasted exactly like they were from KFC. I suspect they were maybe instant potatoes and store bought cole slaw. They didn’t taste homemade at all. The meal was definitely not worth the price. My husband did like his steak though. The server was ok. Not very good at his job. Fortunately we were the only ones there. I think if he had more than one table to wait on he would have been totally overwhelmed. It’s possible we might come back here if we are in the neighborhood for some reason but I’d never make a special trip to eat here. And I’ll definitely never order the fried chicken again.

Server was very knowledgable-- but spoke a little too long. Also, it was very very very dark in there. Very dark. Other than that, the cocktails were amazing, and so was the food. Got the braised lamb gnocchi so so so so very delicious.
