Eastside Bar & Grill is located on the 1st floor in The Old Rum Store on Chippendale’s buzzing Kensington Street. It pays homage to the upmarket dining experiences of New York, nestled within a heritage-listed warehouse, evoking the atmosphere of New York’s famed meatpacking district.

At Eastside Bar & Grill you’ll find the finest cuts of meat that have been dry-aged in-house and prepared on the beautiful Parrilla custom-built wood-fire grill by Head Chef Damiano Balducci and team.

Dark, sexy and theatrical, the restaurant features a leather paneled bar with bronze back bar display. A custom brass light fixture, a runway of herringbone flooring and an assortment of steel and leather chairs, marrying the existing raw structure of this 100-year-old building.

    We booked for $90pp for the buffet, the experience is not as good as we imagined. the scotch fillet Steak was underweight and only comes 2-3times per 2 tiny pieces during 2 hour dine. Service is okay. The highlight is the sides which is french fries and salad. At the end its very overpriced and Not worth of $212 for two

    $78 Steak was cooked blue (raw) rather than medium rare. Half the steak was inedible and they said they could recook the pieces but when they had already sliced the pieces thin it wasn't worth it so I just didn't eat it. gave me a slight discount on the steak of $28 but the meal was already ruined.

    A friend and I tried the butchers banquet and it was underwhelming, especially for $90 per person. I think it was over priced for the quality. Although, the ambience and staff were lovely and personable.

    Food was great, tasted fabulous, however the banquet was a little pointless and impacted the experience. Example being; Meat is cooked, waiter provide a single 'slither' of said meat, moves to next table and so on. You consume that slither within seconds, then have 5-10min wait for your next slither. Understand this is part of the concept, slow and small portions aids the diner in becoming fuller quicker, there fore the cost per head is increased by reduced amount of food consumed, though a simple 'portion' increase from a single slither to perhaps 2-3 each serving the food goes around would make the experience much more enjoyable. Unfortunately, I can't recommend people to try the Wednesday Banquet, but will recommend them to try the regular menu as the food was quite tasty.

    We asked chef if he can provide alternatives to the entrees for the set menu ($90 pp), as he said yes to some of them. However we are charged extra for alternatives that chef provided for entrees in the set menu on top of $90pp. That caused an extra cost and frustrated some of my guests.

    The prices of the large steaks are very overpriced. For starters the Black Onyx Ribeye is stated as MB5+ however Rangers Valley the owners of Black Onyx do not make an mb5+ only mb3+ and by looking at the steak in person it was definately mb3+. False advertising. The mayura station mb7 tomahawk was good however outrageously priced. They are charging 3-4x what you would pay if you were to get this steak yourself and cook over fire at home. The entree portion size was tiny compared to the mid 20's they charge for it.

    We were regulars here before we had children. Because we loved the wagyu here. But happy Father’s Day! Kid can come and enjoy now, so yay we are glad to be back. This place has never disappointed.

    Tomahawk was awesome (I have had it twice already!) but the Wagyu Mb12+ sirloin steak was really just so so for the price. It had mainly chunks of fat - not quite marbling that I had expected. Overall tho, I will still go back but I will stick to the Tomahawk! Their entrees and sides are great too!

    Excellent attentive service, amazing food, the wagyu cap was phenomenal - no sauce was needed. Plus salmon sashimi and beef tartare for entre were mouth watering.

    The place is a alright restaurant to come and dine for a steak. The dishes I ordered were the oysters, beef tartare, bone marrow, wagyu rump cup with fries and tomatoes. 2 of the dishes were a little confusing. The bone marrow dish should of been paired with the bread that we got with the tartare and the crispy bread that came with the beef tartare should be paired with the bone marrow. As the bone marrow is such a fatty dish, it need bread to absorb all that goodness so it’s not so overwhelming oily and fatty once bitten. The steak was medium rare, quite well in fact but we were disappointed at the presentation as it looked like we just got scammed $64 out of our pocket. The placement of steak need to be improved on, so that once served, it doesn’t look like more than half the dishes is missing. Overall would recommend to come try but dont expect to be overwhelming good, nice ambience, cosy environment, good list of wine and whisky. Cocktails not so much.

    Great food and ambience. Ordered medium rare steak but it was a little towards the more rare end though. Happy to dine again. Service was good. The candle was exposed and naked which was a little unsafe but waiters happily removed upon request.

    food was nice, on the pricier end...$850 for a 2kg Tomahawk steak.....mmmm no thanks stuck with a 300g rump cap @ $57...very nice. Also one thing to note is the 10% Service Charge and this was on a standard Friday evening. .....didnt think we were living in the USA just yet and on an $830 bill it adds up. feel we should have been advised that this was going to be added to the bill at the start.

    Poor service. The manager is rude. Be careful to make sure your order and the stuff they delivered are the same, otherwise it’s all your fault and you will be treated very disrespectfully.
