Great Brunch!! Packed every Sunday. Would highly recommend.
I had brunch at Ellies. On a Saturday morning right when they open at 10:30 is not crowded, and I realized I did not need a reservation. I had the Chilaquiles and my companion had the French toast. Both dishes tasted pretty good, but the French toast was exceptional. The problem with my dish was that I found several chunks of Cartilage I had to spit out. I asked our server what was in the chilaquiles beforehand and she was unable or unwilling to give me a decent description, so I just took a chance and ordered it. It ended up being house made chips coated in something like an enchilada sauce with chunks of chicken, sliced Chile’s, covered by a fried egg, and with plops of sour cream around the edges (definitely not crème fraîche as the menu promised).
My other issue was that it was too loud, they were playing David Bowie which was great —but it was so loud it made conversation difficult.
I will likely try it again and order something else since this place is walking distance from my home.
Service and ambiance was very nice- conducive to conversation. The taste of the food was great but the amount of meat or vegetables in the pasta was skimpy! Personally I like to bite into a chunk of meat or veggie, not have it puréed. The shrimp and melon salad however was amazing! Overall yum!
Had a 7:30 reservation and we werent seated till 8:30 Food was great but loud
The food and service were very good... excellent meatballs, blackened chicken and lasagna were all delicious. The desserts were also very tasty. Our server was attentive. I would definitely go back. The only deficit is the limited parking. Use uber or Lyft and save yourself lots of time looking for a parking spot. Btw the corkage is $25.00... I think it’s a wee bit high but that’s their prerogative.
Though a vegetarian can find plenty to eat, this is definitely a restaurant for those who enjoy meet. The food is decadent, delicious with new flavor combinations and fun to eat and share.
Very noisy inside. Would recommend sitting outside.
40 minutes before food was served
Amazing, amazing, AMAZING! Bravo to the kitchen and team
So delicious!! I ate by myself and felt well looked after. The food was DELICIOUS!
The moment our drinks arrived so did the flies.. it was so bad we asked to be moved inside. Unfortunately this did not help matters. We ate our food which was just okay, constantly swathing the flies away. The waitress told us “oh yes Long Beach has a problem with flies”. I was so happy to leave and will never return .
Outstanding and I mean outstanding food! Michael’s in Naples has a superior rival for sure!! Prices much less than the swank Naples eatery and not as extensive wine list but had a wonderful super Tuscan with my meal. Somebody give these people some money to get nicer location and they’ll never look back. What a surprise! Already looking forward to our next visit.
Great first experience! Food was amazing and server was on point. I’ll be back.
Parking is very difficult to find in the area. Food is very good but very pricey. As expensive as Michaels but without the service and ambiance that should come with it in my opinion. Flies were swarming throughout the inside of the restaurant, food took a while to come out, had a rsvp for outside seating but they said they were completely booked so we had to eat inside. Paid attention to the tables outside and during our time there, half of the tables remained vacant.
I love this cute restaurant in Long Beach. I've been here multiple times and failed to enjoy my food. Love the outside dining during summer time.
Nicely prepared dishes with interesting mix of ingredients and flavors. We had a roasted baby eggplant dish to start, which was excellent, and then a handmade pasta with scallops & crab in a delicious lemony tomato sauce. Baby rack of lamb was tasty (smallish portion with not much meat) but pricey at $60, especially since it was overcooked. Dessert was excellent, service was superior, even though the kitchen seemed a bit overwhelmed and there was too long a wait in between first and second courses. Overall, we love finding small, honest, neighborhood places like this that focus on providing thoughtful, handcrafted dishes that are obviously prepared with pride and care.
The food at Ellie's was absolutely fantastic. Everything we ate was delicious, and we ordered A LOT as it was our first time there and we don't eat that often in Long Beach.
Menu standouts included the toasted bread with bone marrow, the shrimp melon salad (Y-U-M) and the pork chop dinner.
Well worth the drive and look forward to going back again.
As always, Ellie’s never disappoints. While we were waiting for our table, the hostess, I believe her name was Evelyn let us taste some wines before committing to ordering a bottle. By the time we were done with our wine tasting our table was ready. The pasta and salads that our group ordered were tremendously good and a little unusual. That is what is nice about Ellie’s, they think outside the box when preparing their dishes. Cannot wait to go back.
The service is consistently good, the food tremendously good and you just cannot beat sitting outside on a warm September evening enjoying a nice Italian meal with friends.
Love it. Food was great. Ambiance was great.
This was our first visit to the restaurant and we were happy we chose to come. We arrived right on time for our reservation and were seated shortly after on the patio. The service was fantastic, including the hosts, bussers, and waitstaff. All were attentive, polite, helpful, and quick. We ordered a bit too much food, but so much of the menu looked delicious. The grilled bread and bone marrow were tasty, and a good deal for the price. The tomato salad similarly was delicious, and a good size. We had two different pasta dishes...while good, we both felt they were a bit over salted and had perhaps too much sauce relative to the amount of pasta. However, both were flavorful and we were happy with our choices. The bread pudding at the end was nice, although my wife was wanting a bit more ice cream (or was it gelato?) to go with it. Overall, it was a very nice night out and we definitely plan on returning to try more of the menu.
A perfect early evening dinner
Underwhelming. I had the chopped salad which appeared not to be chopped and it was disappointing overall.
Also had the lasagne which was layer upon layer of pasta with only a suggestion of other ingredients. Shortcuts were obvious. I will not return.
Great food, service and a very creative menu all leads to a very happy palate. HOWEVER... The location leaves much to be desired as there is no parking whatsoever. Both Indoor/outdoor seating is super cramped and a real nasty issue with flies. I wouldn’t normally comment on the flies but this has been an issue in multiple visits. At some point they’re going to have to stop banking on the great food being the only draw. They need to up their game... great food will only go so far. It’s a “dining experience”.. not an “eating experience” we all desire. If just filling our belly is all we wanted we can stay home. PLEASE, move to a better, cleaner, parkable... diners who will pay for $40-$65 entrees, will not forgive nor overlook these glaring shortfalls forever... love to see them move and make this the great place it has the potential to be.
Love this neighborhood restaurant! Parking sucks so either walk or Uber/Lyft. Italian cuisine done up uniquely and deliciously. Wine list is not extensive but sufficient.
From the time we arrived the service was exceptional.
The hostess was delightful, funny and helpful.
Sean, our waiter, was very knowledgeable of the menu and couldn’t have been more attentive to our needs.
The food was spectacular, the combination of spices was like nothing I have ever had. The Calabrian Jam in the Agnolotti was incredible.
We sat outside on a pleasant night and the ambiance was warm and accepting.
I can not say Mor
Another wonderful dining experience at Ellie’s! The food is always wonderful, flavors exploding in your mouth! The service is the best, always making us feel like we are their only priority. A must go!
Everything worked out perfectly. The food offered everyone something they liked. The flavor profiles and textures were awesome. We loved the creativity and whimsical fun of the food!
We eat at Eliies a lot but we feel as outstanding as the food is the service and ambiance are just not there. The music was loud and the staff was dancing and joking. It’s unfortunate because our bill is always over $200. The food is absolutely worth it but the experience should be too. One night the service was exceptional but this time we brought new neighbors and it was just bad. They also have got to figure out the fly problem. Shut the door or something but when your eating a fine meal you don’t want flies.
Not for these prices. Best Italian in LB!!!
Absolutely outstanding food and wine selections with a charming neighborhood feel. Great outdoor patio with neighborhood feel... Please take a ride-share service because parking is totally impossible. The 30 minutes (no joke) you will be late to your reservation finding a spot will dampen your mood. The food is too good for that!
Love love love Ellie’s! Delicious food & fabulous service. Excellent wine choices! We sat outside and had a wonderful experience! Will definitely be back❤️👏🏻
Fantastic Food. Really friendly staff! Will definitely go back!
Glacial kitchen grinding out good food.
Food was good, and Adam (our server) made it exceptionally awesome!
Everyone is so hot on this place. It's just OK.
Décor - gray
Outside dining - off dirty sidewalk with cars driving by
Food - ok, but nothing to fight for parking over
Very fun sitting outside but one of the pa
This was EVERYTHING and more, then what was expected.
As it had gotten a bit cooler, I opted to sit indoors. I enjoyed it-the energy was amazing and just electrifying. My Mom did not enjoy it was much. Though as the meal progressed the volume lowered, and she could hear herself-again.
So from the appetizer- a flavorful corn & risotto arancini - the salad of green & wax beans -sugar snap peas, shallots, pean tendrils - Our pasta entries a tagliatelle with shrimp and my orecchiette with sausage to the shut the barn door and paint it red - AMAZING roasted bread which was in theory to dip into the pasta sauce though did not make it as it was served with this delightful pork butter and pickled veggies. Everything was just bursting with flavor.
I loved the food. The lamb chops were superb. The wine is overpriced and $25 for corkage is exorbitant.
The food was okay. The prices were way too high. The server was very kind. The restaurant was crowded and much too loud. The bathroom was clean.
This is my all time fav restaurant in the area. I live for the brunch and we go every weekend. The pasta is all homemade with creative dishes. The service is second to none. I have been coming here for a year plus and I love it more and more each time I go. They are very accommodating with menu items as in leaving things out for dietary needs. The outdoor seating area is amazing in the summer! Just a really amazing spot! Highly recommended by a very fussy eater!
The staples I always get were great. Bone Marrow, Oysters were great, The actual pasta dishes were alright. Not as good as they have been before. The dish with the beef tongue has cold and hard peas. Not sure if they were suppose to be like that. I've been here a handful of times, probably my least favorite experience.
Trying not to give up on it yet.
