Disappointment… for the 4th time. My family has enjoyed Emmy in nyc so much and we’ve tried the Shaw, Navy Yard, and Alexandria locations all which have been a massive let downs. I will not be coming back to another Emmy squared again. My burger was barely cooked!! The staff didn’t seem to care that it wasn’t cooked at all. Whoever is managing or running the ships over there is terrible. Either close the doors or sharpen up. Shameful.
Thank you for being our guest and for your feedback. This is in no way what you should expect from a visit to Emmy Squared - Shaw, and we are very sorry to have disappointed. We do hope you will choose to visit us again.
A great casual Friday night spot. We enjoyed our food and the service was great.
The ordering service was very confusing. We could order food via the QR code but had to order drinks through the server. But then you could not make modifications to food orders on the QR code. We had one persons food order arrive 10 minutes before another persons food arrive. And then the final two peoples food arrived 10 minutes after that. Additionally the drinks all came with the last persons food so the first two people finished their food before they got drinks. We like the food so will come back to give another chance, but service was bad
We’re sorry to hear that we weren’t able to provide you with the best experience possible. Hope you’ll give us another chance in the future.
I had a really great experience, my order was wrong but the pizza was still really good. My server was attentive and it was surprisingly very quiet for a Sunday afternoon. Probably the best Detroit style pizza in DC.
Good Detroit style pizza in a comfortable, stylish environment. Definitely worth a try.
The pizza was great but, the sandwiches very pretty salty. Additionally, the service was not very attentive and made drinks incorrectly.
Very friendly staff, great atmosphere, AMAZING food!
go earlier on in the evening - if you go at 8:30 when we did every interaction was that the kitchen was closing, last call for the bar and then pushing you along. it would have been more relaxing for take away and the pizza was good but was only warm anyway eating there
Do yourself a favor and get the Nashville pizza!!!! It is so good.
Best pizza in the area. Ingredients are high quality and fresh. Menu isn't too large so they can focus on doing a few things really well. Carry out is good and the pizza is easily reheated in the oven. Love coming here and will be back.
Overall good experience. Shaw is hard to get to, but the vodka pizza was solid. We were are party of two in an empty dining area so there was no need for them to sit us at a tight table. Good decor.
Second visit — as good as the first. Consider me a regular now.
I simply love this pizza spot!! ITS THE CHEESE ON THE PIZZA FOR ME!! The kale salad is BOMB!!!
Food was great. Our food took a while to get to us, but it looked like they maybe lost our order- other folks seemed to have gotten their order in a timely manner.
Turn down the lights!! It’s like an operation room in the restaurant
The atmosphere inside was more bleak and 'lonely' feeling then before the pandemic. I understand seating restrictions, but there was no bartender, boxes piled up at the tables, and no background music. The restaurant could use an interior ambiance facelift.
Everything tasted incredible and the service was great. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Six of us ordered drinks and then split garlic sticks, a double order of zia fries, and three incredible pizzas. We left full and happy. We’ll definitely be back to eat in and take out!
As a side note, we are all vaccinated and this was our first time in a restaurant in over a year. We were a bit nervous, but it all felt very safe. We really appreciated that the staff and customers were respectful and courteous with social distancing and wearing masks while not eating.

Did a good job with pandemic capacity. Burger is better than pizza!
Great service, great food
Great food and great service
I loved the pizza and the burger.
I absolutely love the pizza and burgers. Fantastic food. what a great edition to Shaw DC
Straight from New York City
Hey Darryn, Your amazing review made our hearts so happy! Thank you so much for taking the time to review Emmy Squared, we very much appreciate it. We hope to see you soon! Kindly, Emmy Squared- Shaw Team
Not my type of good. Greasy and unsophisticated. Pizza look like too much dough full of carbs.
I would recommend Emmy Squared because the ambiance and food was amazing!
A very welcoming place with wonderful food! This is one of my new go to places in the neighborhood!
We were a group of 6 and ordered 3 pizzas and a loaded fries to share. Loved it all! The fries in particular were extremely delicious, with the bacon being particularly flavorful. We loved the style of the pizza and the crust texture (that crispy cheese is hard to top). The price point is also great. We all ordered a cocktail and our meal came out to under $25/person with tax and tip. A true rarity in DC!
Our only complaint was noise level - we were at a booth with three people on each side and the people on the ends had a very difficult time hearing each other. I would probably stick to a smaller group if I were to go back.
Great burger, pizza, wine.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced! Really enjoyed and definitely will be back.
We enjoyed an appetizer, two pizzas, and a drink and the total was still only 55$. The server was attentive without being pushy. Overall a great experience.
Great food and bottomless mimosas. Our server, Whitney, was fabulous and added to the overall exceptional experience. Will recommend.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end! Sexy atmosphere, extremely good pizza and stellar service! This will be a staple in my “go to” restaurants!!
The most delicious pizza! The staff was amazing
Pizza was tasty, so were the waffle fries! I want to come back to try the burger and other sandwiches. Service was wonderful! It was SO loud, I couldn't really hear my any of my friends. We communicated via meaningful glances and hand gestures.
Great pizza, fair prices, beautiful space. We enjoyed our dinner here - and having happy hour drinks at our table. Only con was that the tables against the far wall (where half is booth, half are chairs) are super super close together. So close you can’t get to the booth side without pushing the table back (and I’m a small person). I would suggest removing one of these tables to make things more comfortable. Or request to sit in a different area.
From Detroit. .. not Detroit style pizza
I just wished my pizza and wings were hot which ruined my experience.
Pizza and wedge salad were amazing!!! Burger was oily. Service was kind of spotty but otherwise fine. Weird they don’t sell coffee! Will definitely go back.
Two words: So. Good.
This location does not quite deliver compared to the original. We were excited to try and have in the neighborhood, however, the garlic sticks were mushy and the pizza (which we were most excited to have again) wasn't much better than your DiGiorno deep dish. The crust was crustless and that bite we've experienced in the past was lacking. Hopefully, they improve over time but would be hesitant to go back To Emmy Squared unless in Brooklyn.
Ambience great. Pizza was terrible. Soft and mushy like thick white bread. Only good part was a little bit of cheesy crust on a small part of the corners.
