Disappointing. Server Thai was aloof at best, and more accurately rude and inattentive. We felt like we were in the way the entire time. We just kept thinking the whole time we should have gone next door to Merriman’s which we love and visit multiple times any given visit. We drove 30 miles to be at FORC and were sorry we did. And here’s the thing. I very RARELY write bad reviews. If I don’t like a place, I just don’t leave a review. But that’s how disappointing this was. Put a fork in it. We’re done. We won’t be coming back.

FORC, or Farm, Ocean, Ranch, Cook. was a delightful find last night for dinner. They opened in 2021, a tough time to start a farm to table restaurant. We started with Goat tacos with goat cheese, and a bartender's special of a Dragonfruit Margarita, upgraded with smoky Mezcal. Both were superb. Next up the house salad with pineapple brown butter dressing, also excellent. Their baked fresh daily Portuguese bread was warm and tender and perfect for scooping any leftover sauce on our Mac crusted lamb chops and a wonderfully smoky and tasty pork loin. Ended with a caramel Mac nut tart with a scoop of vanilla. All in all a great meal, good value, nice folks, bit noisy, but is popular with the locals who clearly enjoy being there. We will definitely be back on our next trip to the Big Island.

My boyfriend and I went there for a what was supposed to be a lovely birthday dinner. We got there and waited a minute for our drinks. Put in an appetizer which came out in a timely fashion. Then ordered our entree, the coffee rubbed ribeye. This also took a little bit of time and then when the entrée had arrived to our table, we were a bit surprised when they showed up with the tomahawk instead. Which was their special cut of the night. My boyfriend did ask if this was the ribeye and the waitress responded no you ordered the special and we said no we did not. obviously this is a very expensive and nice cut of meat so we did not want to go to waste. She did explain that there is a price difference which we were aware of and also the portion was much bigger, which is why we went with the ribeye. Now I have worked in the service industry for 10+ years so I do understand when mistakes happen, but usually when they do you comp it, offer a free drink, dessert, etc. We still tipped 25% because she was still doing her job. I do feel because it was their mistake. They should’ve charged us first the ribeye no matter what but instead they charged us full price and never even acknowledged that it was my birthday when we were there. The food was OK probably not worth the cost. Lesson learned and we will probably not return.

Aloha Rachel, Thank you for leaving a detailed review of your visit with us here at FORC. We're so bummed to hear that you didn't enjoy your birthday dinner and to hear about the very costly mistake on our part. We will take corrective actions immediately. We sincerely apologize for the error. Mahalo, FORC Restaurant

A must try. We return each time we visit Bug Island. Chef Allen and now Chef Anna conjure up Hawaiian whole fish delights. This Wzimea outpost is always buzzing & the drinls and wine are faurly priced, the steaks a deal. But the fish..ahh sublime. See you next time.

We had a great dinner at FORC. Appetizers were excellent and the wine list had a nice offering. My husband had the NY steak served loco moco style cooked a perfect medium rare and he loved it. I had the beef short rib it was very flavorful and tender. The best part was meeting Chef Hess! Nice guy with a great personality. Service was excellent! We will be back!

A personal recommendation brought us to Forc. It’s a fresh, lively and cool spot which you can see is beloved by locals and discovered by visitors too. It can be loud at times in the main dining room. Food items we tried: Goat tacos (only two per order) we delicious but not a great value. Similar feedback for the fresh rolls with boar chorizo butter. Our mains were miso butter fish: this was cooked nicely but a pretty fishy taste so wouldn’t recommend. Portuguese chicken was delicious - the brine taste from the olives and feta were on point and highly recommend this dish - very shareable. A similar review for the Portuguese mussels. The ‘mini wedge salad’ is a sizable portion and would recommend too. The Korean beef sliders were also good but be warned that the marinade and oreo for the goat taco, these lettuce cups and the Korean braised short ribs are all the same so don’t over do it and order all as the taste is similar. Overall a sweet little find and exactly what we were looking for. Appreciated the warm service as well. Mahalo!

Outstanding food. Appetizer was the goat tacos. They were fabulous. For entrees, steamed red snapper (one per night) and the coffee crusted ribeye. Both excellent! The ube (purple sweet potato) ice cream is not to be missed

Innovation approach to traditional Hawaiian foods. Ingredients were super fresh. Portions were generous, even my Keikei steak was more than satisfactory. We truly enjoyed the chocolate crème brûlée when paired with the port wine. Will return again to try new menu items

We love this place. The menu gives lots of options. Whether you want seafood, a big steak, or lots of starters, you can find what you are looking for. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The bar is also a popular place for locals to hang out.

This was worth the drive from Waikoloa. The service and food was too notch. As my husband said the carrots taste like carrots. Beef is grass fed.
