What a wonderful experience! I met friends for a birthday dinner, and the food was sensational! All the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The music was lovely and created a great ambience.

Celebrated a birthday with out-of-town visitors. The drinks in the bar were yummy! We had reservations for dinner. The menu was actually fun -- so many different entrees. We were all extremely satisfied with our appetizers and meals. It was so nice for the owners to come to the table and ask us specifically what we liked or would want improved. One person in the party added prawns to the Cioppino, and it was terrific. He suggested to the owner that they would be a great addition. We'll definitely be returning!

My partner and I came to Friar Tucks on a Friday evening for a date and everyone was extremely pleasant. We were impressed by the combination of finer dining options and the casual atmosphere. My partner was a kitchen manager of a steak house elsewhere for a significant time and was impressed with the food we ordered. Our server was delightful and we were pleasantly surprised with the owner coming by the table to speak with us. We enjoyed our conversation with him and we look forward to returning time and time again in the following years. The salmon was delicious - cooked perfectly and the combination of sides complimented it wonderfully. We greatly enjoyed the baked brie and the spicy fried calamari for starters. We took home the tiramisu for dessert and even a few days later it was delicious and not overwhelming in any one flavor.

We’ve been coming to Friar Tucks for several years, but this was the first time we tried the cheese fondue and it was delicious. The other thing I love about Friar Tucks is that it has live music, and it adds to the experience of being there.

We came for the Sunday Brunch & it was delicious. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich, which was huge, but one of the best I've ever had. My husband had the Chicken & Waffles. He said the chicken was very flavorful, but the waffle looked a little "underdone" & pale to me. The Mimosas were also very good. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I were celebrating 32 years anniversary. The service was extremely excellent. The server was friendly and hospitable. The food was excellent. Then Ken, the owner comes and introduced himself to us. He asked what drink was our favorite, then he comes back with a refill of our favorite drink. The ambiance was awesome and ambiance at the bar was even better. The bartenders offered awesome customer service. We recommend this restaurant!!

We had a wonderful experience at Friar Tucks. The staff was caring and attentive. We loved the personal feel of the space. Ken, one of the proprietors, visited every table to get to know all of the guests. The care and attention of the entire team was second to none.

We have always loved the signature dishes such as the onion bread. We are disappointed that they have changed the recipe for that and eliminated some other favorites such as bread sticks and dill dip Service was excellent and the ambiance is top notch

We had an amazing experience, Tyler made sure we had everything we needed. The pacing of the food allowed us to enjoy not only the ambiance of the restaurant but our food. While there was a degree of separation, we enjoyed the live music as well that was entertaining in the bar area. We have shared with friends just how much we enjoyed our evening and when we return to Nevada City we will also return to Friar Tuck's Restaurant & Bar.

Friar Tucks was fantastic - food, service, ambiance was great! Out only slight issue was a wait for our dinners. The appetizers and salads were prompt. Not sure if it was kitchen - it was busy and understandable. Can't wait to go back!

First time in town and also eating here. We were very impressed and couldn’t have been more satisfied. Ordered the prime rib which was great… cooked the way I wanted it. Also ordered the pastry Brie for an appetizer which really set the mood for dinner. Highly recommended.

We ordered two salads, they were the size of four salads, way too big to even finish half of them… They should charge less and make them half the size. I felt bad throwing away all that delicious salad. That being said it was delicious. Then we had the fondue for two that again was absolutely delicious, but the meats, sausage meatballs that they included with. It was a little weird we just wanted bread and fruit and veggies But again it was absolutely delicious, we rolled out of there with the chocolate mousse and the rhesus peanut butter pie, absolutely delicious. The peanut butter pie could’ve been half the size and a little bit less money because you’re throwing away all of this food that’s unbelievably delicious. so my review is the food is astounding. They should cut their portions a little bit and charge a little bit less because nobody wants to throw away all that food. I would definitely recommend them.

DON’T EAT HERE. We ordered the calamari, crab cakes and the rib eye. The calamari was greasy, the crab cakes were average at best and the rib eye was the WORST steak I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Our server was courteous and tried to salvage our evening with a complementary after dinner drink, but to no avail. The ambiance and live music were very nice, but the kitchen clearly needs a complete makeover.

We went to Frier Tucks for our 48th Anniversary. They had a special table for us with a happy anniversary sign. The cheese fondue and wine were great. My husband loved his steak. Soft live music was playing in back ground. They gave us each a glass of champagne to celebrate.

Friar Tucks is the best of the best!! Our server Kelly was friendly, attentive & fun to talk to! The music was great and we sat in the front window on the dining room side when you walk in and it’s perfect as you can hear the live music & have a conversation! Fondue, Salmon, salads were all perfect! We were happy happy!

Dinner was very good. We don't particularly like the changes to the menu. The prime rib was great as always; but the "sauce" was not horseradish. The Maui Pie was good, but not as it was before.

To sum it up: I expected better. The food was just OK, which isn't saying much for those price points. I had the panzanella with salmon: the bread in the panzanella was really tough, and the salmon was overcooked - almost completely hard. The rest of my table said the food was just OK - no one was completely happy with their dish, which was a let down for a $50/person dinner. That said, the service was wonderful. Every member of the staff was happy and helpful. I just wish the food were on par.

We had ribeye which was excessively fatty and un-flavorful. Breadsticks were stale. The crab cakes were good and the calamari was ok. I don’t like the new menu. The Maui pie is not very good compared to the old version. This used to be my favorite restaurant in the area. I will not be going back…so sad..

My wife and I shared the crab cake appetizer and the Merry Men fondue dinner. Both excellent. Our server was Lilah. She was excellent. Casual dining, live music (Saturday night) and a clean, well run restaurant.

They sat us quickly even being late for our reservation. Very nice and sweet people. Server was overwhelmed and busy. Food came out pretty quickly. Food was horrible. Just not good. I sent my meal back and they comped it. I feel bad but it was so not good. Whole party was unhappy. Price is very expensive for what we got. Spent 200 even with a comped meal.

We found this place up in Nevada City…Love the atmosphere very romantic. Waitress was very friendly and kind. Food absolutely delicious. Pricey but it was a fun romantic date.

the wine paring was very bad, service was slow, when it came time to pay for the meal nothing was itemized, all these issues are management problems. We have never had service like this at Friar Tuck's.

Hands down the best food, service, and experience I think I've EVER had at a restaurant! The owner, Ken, talked to us for a long time and made us feel like celebrities while we were there. Such a small town, friendly, but also high class vibe!
