An absolutely lovely experience. The chicken liver mousse and steak are a must.
Absolutely wonderful experience. Service was informative and attentive without being overbearing. Food was incredible. We opted to share many small plates amongst the four of us. Our server guided us perfectly on quantity. Will be back
We had a lovely dinner at Friday Saturday Sunday. Our table for two was perfectly placed by the window with comfy leather chairs as we enjoyed dishes from each section of the menu. Our waiter was excellent offering some great suggestions too. We are looking forward to going back to try what we didn’t experience this time.
The food was amazing but smaller portions.
Best experience I have had at a restaurant in CC from start to finish!
Seating a bit tight; food excellent however limited choices. Excellent service.
Our experience was exceptional at Friday Saturday and Sunday. The service was great helping us with the menu and recommending different dishes. The food was wonderful. We will definitely return.
Haven’t been here in years...exceeded expectations. Food and service were exceptional.
Every dish we had was amazing. The brussel sprouts were incredible (never thought they could be so good).
Good spot but not at all like the original. Totally different feel
Great service and great food. Will highly recommend to others.
Eating dinner last night at Barbuzzo reminded me that I wanted to review our dinner at FSS last Friday after the PA Ballet. Barbuzzo's dinner cost $134 and was, as always, wonderful. FSS cost $269 - almost exactly twice the cost of Barbuzzo - and was a major disappointment. And the cost wasn't the problem. We've spent over $500 for dinner at Laurel and thought it was fantastic and worth the cost. The biggest problem with FSS was salt. But first, the good. Beautiful revamp of the old FSS (which we always loved, by the way). Excellent service by Tim. My wife's endive and treviso salad and my chicken liver mousse were outstanding. The first problem was the crackers (or whatever they call it) served at the beginning of dinner. I love good bread, my wife loves bread sticks and crackers, and we both hated FSS's version. Awful. We barely ate any. My wife's octopus was good but the accompanying beans, too salty. My collard greens were almost excellent, just too salty. Her smoked herring spaghetti was so salty she could not eat it, sent it back (which we almost never do), and the second version was not much better - still too salty. My striped bass was bland and, at the same time, too salty. There are spices other than salt. My cheesecake was only fair and my first cup of coffee arrived lukewarm so I sent it back. My second cup was good but I was never offered a refill. The last time we had such a problem with salt was at the now-closed Spraga, where we often dined until one dinner where saltiness was over the top. We were so looking forward to FSS as the reviews have been excellent. Go figure. We were so disappointed. We dine out frequently in Philly but we won't be going back to FSS.
Birthday. Very nice
Food was to die for absolutely delicious! The presentation was beautiful and the bread with the honey butter was unreal it melts in your mouth. The Brussels sprouts, chicken and gnucci were cooked to perfection. Lots of flavor! 5 stars all the way with the service as well.
All the dishes we had were inventive and delicious. Our waiter, Alexander was friendly, helpful and attentive. Portions are small particularly the agnolotti. However, we were satisfied and look forward to dining with them again.
I am giving the restaurant this rating because of how I was treated at the end of what was otherwise a top notch meal. The food and drinks were excellent- we had several appetizers, a pasta, shared the duck and an ice cream dessert. This was a birthday celebration. Service was very professional . No complaints there. However, the dining room is very cramped. Tables are very close together. Two gentlemen were seated behind me across the aisle at 2 different tables. At the end of our meal, as the room got more crowded, a woman who appeared to be the manager/hostess came by and loudly told me to move my chair as I was blocking the aisle. She said nothing to the two men whose chairs were at least as far out if not farther out than mine. This was very offensive to me and ruined the entire experience. Her comments were offensive and embarrassing and I found it questionable they were only said to me and not the two gentlemen. Like I said, great food . But the dinner was ruined.
It’s a cool hip place but it’s staring to wear down already.
The waiter was outstanding.
The food was just fine for the price.
Really enjoyed the food and our server was outstanding.
An after concert dinner, that ended a perfect night. Every dish was shared and every dish was exceptional. A NY Strip done just the way we wanted, the veggies and pasta sides were great. Our server was there when we needed him, and very efficient. Will be back.
Our new go-to place. Fantastic small plates (that's all we have tried). The only drawback is the steepstairs to the dining room, but once there, what a wonderful experience
Best meal I ever had in my life !
Limited but beautiful menu expertly prepared, and served by pleasant energetic and well informed service staff. Dimly lit intimate space with a lovely bar. Dangerously steep stairs for those with mobility issues. Innovative but notaries cocktails. Astonishingly good vegetables.
Loved the place. Great ambiance. Very warm and welcoming. Heard great reviews of the food and it did not disappoint. Elevated without being fussy. Drinks were spot on.
Everything was delicious! The crudo and lobster especially, plus the panna cotta.
All the food was excellent and the server was knowledgeable of the food as well as the wine and cocktail menus.
Everything was good except no one was at the hostess stand for a while & I couldn’t be seated until my friend arrived - my friend who had to drive around & around for parking. I hadn’t read their warning about limited parking. I am older & had been standing all day so a seat would have helped my back. The bartender was fabulous & welcoming & our server was outstanding & friendly. We were surprised that the duck for 2 was already off the menu as we were seated in dining room for which reservations are required and were placing our menu by 5:30pm. I enquired & was told that the downstairs bar, which is first come, is full menu. That’s wonderful but if you’ve made time to plan & reserve a dinner table it would be nice to have the full menu available - especially at 5:30pm. That said the steak & lobster we were “forced to order”😇 were divine as was our entire dinner!
Delicious, fresh creative plates. Awesome wine. Great service. I’ll be back!
Excellent from top to bottom. One of the best restaurants in the country.
I hadn't been to the restaurant since it was owned by different parties about 6 years ago. The atmosphere was relaxing and upscale; the wait staff was very accommodating, and the food was fresh, delicious and reasonable. I will definitely go back.
The best food I’ve had in Philly. You can skip dessert, everything else was amazing!
Best restaurant in Philadelphia.
One of the best restaurants in the city, but often tough to get into so plan early
To put it with my wife's words: "This was the best food I've had in the last year". Simply amazing, delicious and totally worth the money. The drinks were fantastic too.
Bar atmosphere great
I preferred small plates
Octopus and the gnocchi delish
We ordered the large fish entree with warm potatoes salad
My steak was perfect
Service was awesome
I would go back
Wonderful food and wonderful service! Particularly pleasant around 5:30 before it got too noisy.
It has a warm cozy ambience and the small portions leave you satisfied, and not feeling like you never want to eat again. Definitely worth eating here.
Great service and atmosphere. We had just gone to Vernick he night before thinking it was one of the best meals of our trip. Friday, Saturday Sunday topped it. Recommend picking the small plates to share —- Arctic char, octopus and pastas were particularly memorable as well as the beer tartare. Desserts are definitely not to be missed. Great restaurant with a relaxed vibe.
Not sure of our servers name (African American gentleman) but he’s been with you for years. Don’t let him leave you. He’s fab. Perfect person to have in the front of the house. Rock star, menu knowledge and subtle service.
The food was wonderful. We used to go here long ago, so we wanted to see the changes. We were not disappointed. Food was original and delicious.
We were really blown away by the food and love the ambiance. Our serving was very knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff made us feel welcome. Great drink offerings as well.
