Gertrude's is always a "winner". The food is flavorful, fresh and appealing.
I am never disappointed with this restaurant -- and the atmosphere is perfect!
What I like about Gertrude's besides the atmosphere, which can't be beat is their consistency. I have never had a bad meal and what you read on the menu is described perfectly. We had a wonderful birthday brunch. Great drinks, food and a beautiful view. Afterwards, despite the cicadas, we had a lovely stroll through the Sculpture Garden.
Great brunch, we really enjoyed the excellent food and service.
Jay, our server who works dinnertimes on Fridays & Saturdays, really made our evening spectacular w/ his elegant, warmly welcoming, professional, extremely polite & very attentive, incredibly non-intrusive service. He really made certain that our celebration of our 2 friends’ 1st Wedding Anniversary passed memorably in a way to truly complement the unexpected perfect weather over our table al fresco near the fountain. An amazing guy who capped off our fantastic dinners w/ Happy Anniversary chocolate-laced decorated desserts for our good friends! Thank you so much, Jay! We really want to visit w/ you again soon!
Fantastic food and great atmosphere. It was my first restaurant experience since Covid and I felt very comfortable.
Great food and good experience-crab cakes did not disappoint, sculpture garden is beautiful
Great food. Nice setting. Great service
Excellent food and service!!!
It is never a disappointment to dine at Gertrude's. The food is always good and the ambiance is great. There was even a party outside but we didn't heard a word from the group.
Gertrude's never disappoints. I keep asking myself, "Why isn't this the first place that I think of for dining?" I don't know the answer because it is always consistently good, the atmosphere is nice, and service is always good as well. What's not to like? Reasonably priced drinks, well chosen moderately priced wines, very good seafood, and enough variety for anyone. We'll be back more frequently in the future.
Gertrude's was wonderful and our server was so nice and friendly and fun. We all ordered the Gertrude crabcakes which were perfect and not overly seasoned or overly large. Crabcakes are expensive, so that is that, and these were very good with not so much filler and honestly the meal felt quite healthy. Believe it or not, we all went nuts on the potatoes! Anyhow - definitely a lovey place, great staff and great food...and you cant beat the location!!
As always dining at Gertrude’s is special. And of course whenever Tom is out server, everything becomes extra special. Gertrude's is, and will always remain, a favorite of mine - my “Go to place for an excellent dining experience!”
There was live music inside, though we opted for an outside table next to the fountain. The overhead fans kept us cool while we feasted on amazing crab cakes, swordfish and a serviceberry omelette. We are never disappointed!
Lovely brunch outdoors at the Baltimore Museum of Art.
Gertrude's candy bar mousse dessert is absolutely pure sin!
Great food, great service and the best setting in town
The tented garden area is very pleasant and we had an enjoyable dinner at Gertrudes with friends. The lamb meatball appetizer and blueberry/raspberry tart dessert were delicious and we’ll return to order them again along with our other favorites..
Perfect evening with delicious food and excellent service
Always a go-to when driving up to Baltimore. I make it an Art/GiftShop/Food (Gertrude's) experience!
Always a gift
Excellent outside garden venue with plentiful vegan options
Polite and helpful staff. Good service. Left us alone when meal was done and paid for but we sat and continued talking, in other words, they didn’t make us feel pressured to leave.
Great waiter. Good outdoor seating. But, felt a but hurried in the last half hour. Food delivery was prompt. Our waiter was exceptionally kind, attentive, and a pleasure!
Great start to dining out again after more than a year
Very pleasant with good service. Salad was a bit boring but crab cakes were very good.
Gertrude’s is a wonderful restaurant!! Excellent wait staff and ambience! We arrived 10 minutes early for our 12:15 reservation and were seated immediately.
A few issues with the food order. There was a delay in the kitchen as my quiche was burned. And my friend received catfish instead of oysters. However, everything was resolved and we were treated to free desserts.
Gertrude’s, like many restaurants in this time period, is having difficulty finding enough kitchen help. Hopefully, this problem is a temporary one.
I will return to Gertrude’s often as I love the food and atmosphere!!!
Tom gave excellent service at lunch. He is a credit to the industry.
Food was pretty good and service was good as well.
We were a family of 4 for brunch. Delicious biscuits and corn bread along with irresistible raspberry preserves to begin. Our two daughters (in their early 20's) enjoyed the special mango chutney and arugula omelet served with salad and turkey burger with hot crispy fries. My husband and I were disappointed in the Country Breakfast Platter, average eggs, cold and dry roast potatoes, so-so chicken sausage. We barely touched the too sour mango mimosas. Coffee was very good. It was obvious that our waiter was new (and he admitted as much), but pleasant. Nice atmosphere with elegant surroundings, quiet well-spaced tables, and live music from a keyboard player.
I recall the food being in better on a previous visit, about two years ago. My daughter, who dines at Gertrude's frequently, would have rated it 6 stars.
The dining experience was wonderful. I will definitely be coming back to dine. The energy was amazing. The only hiccup that I encountered was, I reserves for outside and they wanted me to dine inside. They state it was a computer glitch but they kept making excuses for wanting me to dine inside. Eventually, they accommodated me and I was grateful that we came to an understanding. In all, the food was amazing and my server was outstanding and knowledgeable about the offerings.
Hostesses dress like high school students out of uniform - dumpy. Not congruent with the ambience & smart casual dress of the restaurant. The waitress was rather stand-offish, but service was satisfactory. Won't return.
The service was polite, efficient and not intrusive. We could dine at a leisurely pace and enjoy the ambiance. They offer an amazing vegan tofu scrambled with perfectly seasoned home fries. My omnivorous family members enjoyed the club and crab cake sandwiches.
We had dinner at Gertrude's to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. The food was superb and the service was excellent. The entrees - a po boy sandwich and a magnificently prepared piece of Rainbow trout - were terrific. But the best of all was the appetizer of beet and basil soup and the dessert - Gertrude's Candy Bar with a glass of limoncello.
First, the restaurant was so accommodating for a dinner with our pastor. Initially, we were limited to a table of six. We then made a second reservation for six. As restrictions were changing, we were able to put our two reservations together. Secondly, the attendees were pleased but more importantly the menu contained so many great selections. Third , the food delivered was given many thumbs up and verbal accolades.
Finally, the service was impeccable and contributed to a most enjoyable evening.
The outdoor section is tented and overlooks the BMA sculpture garden. Lovely. But water feature does make it noisy for those who are hearing impaired.
we sat outdoor next to the fountain and sculpture which was wonderful . Food was OK (not grat though)
Great menu...hard to make choice. Good service and pleasant surroundings!
We are so happy eating at Gertrudes. The food, the ambience, the staff are wonderful. In these difficult times, we feel like we are on vacation sitting nearby the sculpture garden. Thank you everyone!
Great service and delicious food
Our waitress was a bit disinterested in taking our order. Dismissive. Otherwise our lunch and the setting were excellent
