I was disappointed. My reservation was at 2pm and I was told that I had to order within 15 minutes because the kitchen was closing for a private event. I felt rushed, and should of been advised of the event prior to my reservation I was not. Also, there were a lot of flies. I couldn’t enjoy my food with flies constantly flying around. I was disappointed with my first visit.
I came here for restaurant week with my partner and we had a great time. Service was good, food was great and it was overall a great experience. We will likely return for a special occasion.
Gertrudes continues to shine. Food, service, ambience — all first rate. The sculpture garden setting is a beautiful backdrop to the consistently good food and drinks. So glad Gertrudes survived the pandemic!
We hadn't known it was restaurant week and were pleasantly surprised to have three courses for the price of one. Delicious and a great value!
Catching up with old friends after 16 months and of course, enjoying the Baltimore Museum of Art together
Very nice setting, relaxed but sophisticated. I like the creative menu. The wine list, while not overly extensive or ambitious is very fairly priced and one can find good options. Worth a return visit (I had not been there for over a year).
Dinner was delicious especially the grilled peach salmon and the salmon dish
We ate outside in the beautiful sculpture garden. All was excellent!!
Always fresh, always Maryland, always a little surprising. Consistently good.
We loved it. First time visiting and will definitely be back sooner than later.
Food - delicious!
Drinks- very good!
This restaurant was absolutely stunning. My party and I enjoyed lunch outside in the garden area. It was a beautiful view and the food was delicious.
I usually don’t leave reviews but I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Gertrudes. The service was great. I was running a few minutes behind because finding parking can be a hassle. But overall everything went well. Food was amazing. Pricing was reasonable. Will definitely be coming back!
We had a good meal with an attentive server. We enjoyed our lunch!
I will proudly recommend Gerturde’s and I’m definitely coming back
We were seated on time which is an indication of a well run restaurant.
Food was well prepared, presented nicely, and very flavorful.
Only downside was a biscuit served with dinner was hard and dry. Easily prevented with the cornbread rolls served at the beginning.
The tables were not spaced out well enough for appropriate social distancing. The dining room was packed with patrons. It was also a little too loud for easy conversation.
our server moved our meals along in order to be finished within the 1.5 hour health mandated limit, but we didn't feel rushed. Was surprised with a Sorbet with a birthday candle for our special lunch. We asked for a table that was more distanced than the rest, and our hostess gave us two choices. The shrimp salad was excellent, the oyster Po Boy was delicious, but the roll was too large for the amount of oysters inside.
Lunch with friends at Gertrude's with seating outside next to water fountain and sculpture garden. Attentive service. Excellent food. Enjoyed the seafood salad and great desserts! Highly recommend!
If your looking for a great atmosphere, awesome food, and wonderful service then this is the restaurant for you!
Went for lunch/brunch. Service was great and food and drinks were wonderful. I’ll definitely return!
Food was great and our waiter Eric was awesome!
The food here is great, the service superb, and the prices reasonable.
The noise level is often high enough to make conversation difficult. But your staff was most accommodating and agreed to seat us outside, even though we'd reserved a table inside before we found out how noisy it was there.
It would be great if more of the outside tables were under umbrellas so that diners could be sheltered from the harsh sunshine.
Beautiful setting. delicious food, wonderful services. What more could you want. Thank you Gertrudes, one of my favorite restaurants.
Loved it. Most excellent oysters! Tables nicely spaced, felt comfortable. Did not feel rushed.
Really nice. You don't often find a place with good service, a good view, and good food. Gertrude's has all three. We ate outside with the fountain and sculptures, but inside was equally pretty. We will certainly eat here again! And parking for dinner was very easy (there was space in the art museum lot and on the street).
Drinks were excellent. Service was great. And the food was outstanding!
Everything was pretty good, the only issue I had was that because I’m gluten free I’m very limited when it comes to this menu. I really wish they would offer gluten free bread because it opens up the menu SO MUCH.
The hosting staff graciously let us in 45 minutes before our reservation as we had finished our previous event early. The service and food were both excellent. We had peach gazpacho and red crab soup to start followed by two different egg dishes one with crab and the other with calamari and a hummus dish for the 3rd in the party. Those with the corn muffin and scone type biscuit we got with butter was more than enough.
Wonderful, fresh, local food. The Upside-Down Peach Cake was the best dessert I’ve had in a long time. Everything was delicious, a real treat for us!
I loved my dining experience at Gertrude’s and will definitely dine there again!
If you like 'energetic' (loud) surround, this is the restaurant for you.
Selling our home and moving
Great outdoor dining with lovely ambiance and delicious food.
Everything was excellent as always. The service was perfect as always
I dined here for lunch with my wife and daughter prior to a tour of Johns Hopkins. We split the cold soba noodles as an appetizer, which was very nice and a good offset to a hot and humid July day. I had the veggie sandwich, wife had the seafood salad, daughter had the crab cake sandwich, all were very good portion sizes and all were very yummy. Excellent service as well, Gretchen was able to track down some bottled water at the end of the meal which came in handy during the tour!
We love the setting at Gertrude's and the menu. The service was just a little off, when it is usually prompt and spot on.
This was my first time revisiting Gertrude's since the pandemic. We chose to celebrate both a colleague's retirement and a family wedding anniversary. Gertrude's was certainly the most approriate venue. Our server was attentive and informative but allowed us to converse throughout and well after the meal. We had much to talk about and were not at all rushed. The food, fish, seafood from the bay and lamb appetiser, were delicious, more than enough in quantity and creatively presented. My colleague wanted a salmon dish no longer on the menu but was assured that was not a problem. He was so pleased.
We sat down for an early supper at 5 PM, so the room was much quieter than it often is. 0ur son was visiting after 5 years without a decent crab cake, and he was delighted. My fried oysters were terrific, and the grilled potatoes were truly apples of the earth. My wife's salad, which she almost always orders, was up to its usual high standards. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Altogether a wonderful meal.
Never disappoints. Always a pleasure. Excellent oysters. Very good crab cakes. Inexpensive wine choices. Yummy fennel Cole slaw.
