I got the Cavatelli and it was salty to the point that I thought the top must’ve come off of the salt shaker. The rest of the food was okay. Nothing too great. The music was good. The waitress heard my complaint about the food and didn’t offer to have the chef remake it for me. I don’t think she went above and beyond with her duties to make sure her customer left with a good experience. My husband’s chicken Parmesan was good. Also he said it was a bit salty. He said my dish was inedible. I persevered with it and drank a ton of water while eating it. If it weren’t for the live Jazz I would skip this place altogether.
Pleasantly surprised. Food selections were varied and numerous and quality was very good. Service was attentive, but not overburdening. jazz music was soothing soft jazz, not blaring. Biggest negative was that the view from the terrace table included the garbage bins. They should find a way to screen them.
It’s so straight it hurts. Not a vibe for queer folks.
The atmosphere is laid back. The waitress was not overbearing, so I’m assuming from the previous reviews that this is simply the culture of the establishment. They offer complimentary appetizers that definitely weren’t your customary bread. The French toast melts in your month. Id go back if for nothing more then the environment. Free underground Parking is a plus!
Staff was very friendly. Three out of four of our dishes were delicious. Pizza was terrible with dough that was partly raw. Service left a lot to be desired. Mosquitos were bothersome, even with ceiling fans.
Very short on staff. Had to wait a long time to place orders for drinks, for food, for dessert. One dish I had liked previously was prepared with different ingredients not reflected on the menu and was not nearly as good.
Not a great greeting. Shrimp was undercooked. Manager did respond well. Jazz was great.
Food was great . Deck is huge. Jazz for brunch. Free parking underneath building
Beautiful outdoor space. The food was great, particularly the crab cake and the service was also great. We will definitely be back.
The Chicken Parm was great. But, the Cesar salad lacked spunk, in addition to croutons, anchovies, and good cheese, and the $47 dollar strip steak was tasteless.
Lovey service and great outdoor atmosphere.
Love the outside. Burger was nice and ambiance was fine
So disappointing! While the outdoor patio is pretty nice, we were lucky to have a coolish Washington summer evening so we could enjoy. Located on Wisconsin Avenue it could be a very noisy location but our meal was pleasant enough save a hotrod or two. Food was very slow in coming out and did so unevenly. Save your money on the shrimp cocktail and burrata. Both very below par. Shrimp extremely overcooked and tomatoes on burrata salad were pathetic excuses for that summer delight. Salmon was served with four lowly pieces of asparagus, period, close quote. No bread no nothing. Will not go back.
Father's Day Sunday brunch on the terrace and it was fantastic. Four of us in the party with a reservation. The crab Benedict was great. The muffin in the pastry sampler was fantastic: best muffin any of us had ever had. Good mimosas. Live musical trio. Great time.
Extremely slow service. 45 minutes to get a bottle of wine and bottled water.
The food was really good and the ambience is beautiful. The service was so slow and aloof- forgot an order didn’t seem to care or give us an update or anything. We would have stayed and had much more to drink and a dessert but it was so slow we opted for home.
They seemed understaffed. It took over 30 minutes to receive our drinks. Food was tasty once it arrived.
I am someone who is big on customer service and theirs is top notch. After arriving embarrassingly late for our reservation we were still able to be seated right away and everyone from the host to the waiters were attentive. We started with drinks and my sister wanted something a little sweeter than what was on the menu. The bartender made a drink special for her. I had a Prosecco that was very good. The appetizers that we had were delicious and the plating was beautiful. I had the crab cake that was cooked perfectly and not mushy on the inside like some can be. My sister had the shrimp and she was happy with it. We both had the chicken Parmesan, I was hoping for a little more wow, but it was good. We’re not from D.C. but when we visit again I wouldn’t mind coming back here.
The best server ever!!!
The food was good but the service was atrocious. We ordered drinks, and the first drink came promptly enough, but we had to wait 20-25 minutes for the others. It also took a while for the food to come. Then we ordered four desserts. Two came and then we had to wait another 20 minutes for the other two. I understand the shortage of staff at this time, but the restaurant was not THAT busy, and the delays in bringing the whole orders didn't seem like a staffing issue. Our server was largely indifferent. We had a 6:30 rez and didn't leave until 9:30 because of the delays. I hope you can do better because the space was nice and the food decent.
Wonderful food and wine on a nice outdoor terrace. Great service!!
It was great to see Norm Tanney behind your bar making expertly crafted cocktails. He is a consummate professional barman. Alexander was our waiter and was very good. Our dinner was outstanding and we look forward to our next visit.
We ate outside - they told us that they are close to opening up a redecorated interior - dinning room and (I think) bar.
The three of us tried three different meals - hamburger, trout, and steak, All three were very good. We had the warm Chocolate Chip Cookies for desert - while we knew (from asking) that each person would get three cookies - we did not realize how large the cookies would be. We got two orders and each cookie was just shy of 5 inches in diameter and each one was made with brown sugar and butter that came through in the taste.
We live nearby and greed that we would be back!
Food was ok, service a little slow. We enjoyed our night overall.
Very good food. The service was a little rusty for a restaurant that is a few months old. For instance, it was confusing figuring out who to check in with for patio seating as there was no obvious host. It was also confusing clarifying if we had outdoor or indoor seating - Open Table indicated outdoor was not available when in fact that was the only option. It worked out but was confusing too. Otherwise a solid experience marred by some service/administrative hiccups. I will go again and hope these can be resolved.
Overrated by Sietsma in WAPO. Limited menu, terrible wine list. Overdone entree. Incredible noise level dining outside on Wisconsin Avenue. Totally over priced. No wonder that the restaurant was empty, and I could get a reservation almost immediately. You can do much better elsewhere. Caveat emptor.
Very poor service. Waitress told us we could not park in the (empty) garage but instead needed to find street parking in the rain. We had called before coming and they told us to park in the free garage.
Food was mediocre and service was slow and grumpy. Very nice setting but unfortunately, we will not return.
The food is very, very good but it arrives somewhat cold because it is brought from the inside kitchen to the outside seating area. Time to have indoor service.
Ambience is beautiful. Food is overpriced. Dinner service is exceptionally slow and inattentive. I ordered an entree and the waiter never put the order in.
Breakfast service is excellent. Delicious breads and baked goods.
The food and setting was perfect on a summery night. Inside appealing also. Great for the city and neighborhood. Steak tartare authentic and the mussels were flawless
I had read negative reviews on its service but wanted to try it anyway. The service was terrible, plus by the time the hot food arrived from the kitchen (located inside the hotel), it was cold.
Very good outdoor (under cover) dining with heaters if needed. The service is excellent.
My /h and I had an early-ish dinner with our 3 y/o grand/d. Complete with Kids Menu,
her dinner and ours was delightful -- on the large outdoor patio with cover and side shields as needed (except we enjoyed them open for breeze). The Staff was most pleasant and attentive. Our first time, but a neighborhood gem, I can tell. Will go again when I'm back in town.
The food was fine, but way overpriced. I had the shrimp and grits which left me hungry because of the small portion. $32.00! A friend in our party had the cavatelli which she was not happy with.
Luckily we just wanted a chance to visit. The chocolate sundae was big and yummy.
We went for the live jazz music which they are doing on the patio every Sunday. The music was great and the food was good, although a bit pricey.
So-so food with very limited menu. Plenty of outdoor seating. But there are better restaurants.
Great burgers!!! Chicken parm was dry & tasteless.
Food was disappointing. Chicken parm was dried out and the shrimp and grits were just meh. Help was awful. Acted like he couldn’t care less whether we were there. Outdoor space was ruined by the wind tunnel winds. Weird pacing for the food. Appetizer came out quickly as did the cocktail. Wine and main courses not so quickly. Given the expense — over $200 for one app, two mains, one cocktail and a wine on the lower end of the list — there are many othervplaces to go in DC that provide better food, service, and value.
Wonderful neighborhood gem. Delightful spot and excellent service on all levels.
Not only table service but parking as well.
Tom, the Hotel manager sprung to our aid - as a result of Covid, there's no longer any valet parking. But the manager had us park the car right infront of the Hotel while we had dinner - problem solved.
So highly recommended.
Excellent spot for a casual outdoor dinner. Good food in a pleasant ambiance.
many of the foods that were on the website were not on the menu. service seemed disorganized and tired. hamburger that we ordered rare was well done although on the return, it was medium rare. drinks were late and arrived with salads. we had read Tom Sietsma's Wash Post review and went because of that. Disappointing
