Everything was great! It was a very special occasion. Food is a bit pricey. But for this special occasion it was worth it! Our server was great! She was very attentive. Food was very good and desserts were outstanding! The "apple" is amazing!!!
Paul Kendeffy and Chris Hollobaugh have done it again!
Everything I had was superb, but the real winners tonight were the wild mushroom risotto and the lamb wellington. My immediate impression was that the apple dessert is probably the crown jewel of the desert menu, but I wound up going with the chocolate tart instead. I don't even normally like fruit with my chocolate, but honestly I couldn't think of any way to possibly improve that dish even if I wanted to. It was really great.
The vegetables in the salads were succulent and, from my taste, fresh. I think they're grown locally. The chilled lobster salad was also very good, but don't be afraid to add a little more pepper if the server offers it.
On that note, the wait staff was also phenomenal (Toni also was an excellent server). The food and service were timed perfectly.
The only nit I have is that I wish they didn't serve seaweed with the oysters. I get that it's fragrant and adds to the presentation of the dish, but I personally don't like inedible, decorative components on my plate. That said, that's more personal preference than anything (and I still order these every time I go).
If you're on the fence, this is the place to go in State College for fine dining.
Second time I have been in town and had a meal here.
This stands up to the best restaurants in any big city.
Worth a visit and I will return.
Traveling to centre county for genealogy research. Looking for a great dining experience after a busy week. Grace exceeded our expectations. Service and food were outstanding!
Delicious salad and entree. Excellent service, once again, from Dawn.
So nice to see the library is once again available for pre dinner enjoyment.
Find a caterpillar on my salad and feel bad about that. May be more professional in the future
Favorite restaurant in State College! Great food, service and ambience!
Great food, service and ambiance for a special occasion. When weather permits there is outdoor dining on a lovely patio overlooking a beautiful garden. Local residents are lucky to live near such a fine restaurant.
The waitress Cheryl was the highlight of the experience. Fun, attentive, flexible. The food was good. No complaints. For the price, I'd like to see fewer words that need explaining and more creativity and differentiation from other nice restaurants. I can get a salad with walnuts and cheese at any restaurant now days. While good, not different. The fish was good, the lamb apparently very good per my friend. The portions were just right. The desserts ... Cheesecake dressed up like an apple was really fun and delicious. The chocolate ganache totre equally delicious. Ice cream per my friend was ok, far south of the Creamery in his opinion. We each had appy, salad, main course, desert, and a beer. $360 including tip. Again, Cheryl was great! Ask for her if you should venture over. Recommended and one of the better places in State College. The grounds are lovely by the way...
Loved the outdoor patio overlooking the fire pit and golf green. Will definitely enjoy this lively space again.
Starting in the library really makes the dinner an event, I hope you go back to that.
Interesting and disappointing. Beautiful and quiet dining room. The food was yummy. We frequent expensive romantic restaurants, but the price of our preferred bottle of wine was ridiculous. It's $13 at LCB, $25 at our usual higher end restaurant but was $65 at Grace!!! Our waitress was unusual. Service was ok.
My wife and I ALWAYS enjoy our meals here! Its a great date night that's not far away!
Always top shelf. Nice presentation of dishes. More expensive, but very good value to other restaurants in immediate area. We’ll return.
The food and the service was excellent. Our server was very pleasant and took the time to check on some things for us.
Excellent service from Dawn. She is always very professional and helpful.
Somewhat disappointed in menu choices, but tried new dishes that we enjoyed.
Appreciate that Toni and Dawn remember our wine preferences.
It was another nice evening at your restaurant.
We have dined at Grace pre-Covid, first time back since opening up. In the past, cocktails were served in the library. It was a nice room to relax prior to moving in to the dining room. They are now using the library for dining which does not allow for a cocktail in that area. There are other alcoves which would work across the entry way if you so desire. The restaurant was packed, tables were turned over which is nice to see. Our meals from oysters on the half shell to soup and salmon and the pasta entrees were delicious. The only negative, we were seated in the library and our table was close to another, such that we could hear their conversation. In the past,!that would not occur. I did request dining room seating but I am assuming too full to accommodate. We will return but again request dining room early enough to be seated there
We had two very nice bottles of wine we brought to enjoy with dinner. I think they didn’t like that and it showed. They wouldn’t decant the bottles, opened them away from the table, and then set the bottles on the table and left - we had to pour our own wine. The worst part - they charged a $45 PER BOTTLE corkage fee. The courses were served faster than you’d expect at a fine dining restaurant. Not sure we’d return in the future.
lovely atmosphere, finer food than anywhere else in state college
Outstanding food and nice menu and excellent service.
Great use of library area. Chef is spot on!
Best fine dining in State College. Outdoor seating and fire pit were available with a smores option but weather kept us inside. Beautiful location, great food, great service.
High quality food. Good wine list. Excellent wait staff.
Very good food in an upscale atmosphere. Prices are not cheap but the food is delicious.
First time there so obviously good impression and will definitely return!!
An extraordinary restaurant and the best in State College.
Had the most exquisite meal in a lovely dining room. Service was exceptional and our meal was out of this world. Very highly recommend. Perfection.
Girls’ getaway weekend.
My husband and I have had dinner at Grace Restaurant at the Carnegie House numerous times over the past several years and have always had outstanding food and service. We highly recommend it. It is always a wonderful experience
Wonderful meal! Will definitely return when celebrating a special occasion. Was somewhat overpriced for first and second courses as well as desserts.
From the greeting right as we walked through the front door until we left at the end of the evening, everyone on staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We showed up early to enjoy a cocktail by the fire pit before dinner. All the food and drinks were excellently prepared and our server was very knowledgeable about the entire menu. Will definitely return.
I try to go to Grace every time I come to visit my daughter at Penn State. Always a treat! I brought her roommates last night and we had a great time. Food was delicious as always.
Excellent food, on the expensive side, but worth it for our special ocassion.
Beautiful setting to celebrate my son’s college graduation. Wonderful service and desserts.
Always an outstanding part of our trip to penn state
The best venue for that special evening. My only complaint was the too small but tasty oysters.
Grace is our favorite restaurant in the area for special occasions. Wonderful setting and decor -- perfect for an intimate evening or celebration. Food is outstanding and well-presented, though certain entrees could be improved (e.g., overcooked halibut). Service is professional, though could use more than one server on a weekday evening.
Always head here for a special meal with my husband when we come to State College to do Penn State activities. Food is exceptional with a variety of high quality selections. Wine list is wonderful. Staff is always exceptional.
