The food was overall pretty good, but not something I’d rave about. The clams special was too salty. The service was extremely slow. It took over 20 min to even get water and we had to ask multiple times. Even longer to get someone to take our food order. Not sure if they are currently understaffed but it seemed really unorganized. We were not even offered dessert but at that point we didn’t bother asking and just paid and left.
Great food in a classy yet casual atmosphere. Excellent gelato!!!
Fantastic waiter. Food was delicious and they had the best gelato I have ever had.
It was a wonderful experience and we are looking forward to coming back
Our experience was excellent. Our servers were wonderful, food was
fabulous. Gelato was to die for.
We will definitely return!
Service was very attentive and their food lived up to every review we read before going! The classic Tiramisu and gelato are beyond compare. Arancini are a must have! I wish I lived closer so I could try every item on the menu. The volume was a little loud making it occasionally difficult to hear our waiter but still not a showstopper. We'll definitely be back!
Absolutely incredible!!!! The staff, the food, the service, the atmosphere. 10/10!
We enjoyed our food and service. The server was on point. He showed consideration and dedication to our dining experience.
We were seated promptly, the food was amazing, it was great.
The dinner was great. Unfortunately there were only two of us at our table right next to a large party which made conversation difficult at times. Despite that, it was a fully enjoyable dining experience.
Excellent food all the time.
We ate our family dinner outside. A fruity Pera salad. A serving of tagliatela. My wife had a seafood salad that was as as ample as the Pera. The kids and and my daughter and son-in-law had various pastas. All of us except my wife had gelati, the best was tiramasu and my dark chocolate--coffee combo.
Gran Caffe' L'Aquila is always great. We had burrata and salumi to start with. Then chitarra and pappardelle. The quality is superior with authentic Italian touch. To end we had the superb gelato (pistacchio and caffe').
The pasta in both our dishes was overdone.
Service is great!! Food is fresh and creative!! Very good
We ate outside as it was a cooler morning. The service is great as we were not rushed at all and our food was excellent. We will be returning soon!
Food was amazing and best gelato I’ve ever had in the US!
Pretty sure the server was drunk. Waited 30 minutes and never got drinks. Left.
Staff was kind and attentive, food was excellent, I’m so glad we went :)
We generally just go for drinks upstairs and have appetizers. But, we decided dinner this time and we were not disappointed. From the service to the appetizers to the main course to the dessert, everything came out in a timely manner. Never once felt rushed. Bottled wine was reasonable also.
I do not usually give out 5 star ratings but this place really and truly deserves one!!!!
I started with an excellent Paris Boulevardier. The drink selection was very interesting. Next I shared an order of Parma prosciutto and fried artichoke hearts. The waitress had our pasta divided in the kitchen. Of course we finished with delicious gelato.
The food and service was great. We were seated outside so the noise level was a little high. Overall a great experience.
Food is always good and they always have availability
Cocktails are always good
Great food and service. Excellent. Will come back to enjoy another item
A terrific place for a business or social lunch. Over just the last week, I have eaten there twice, once inside and once outside, and both visits were wonderful. The food is genuine Italian. It meets the approval of the Italian born mother of a guest. And the gelato!
This is one of our all time favorite restaurants. Food, ambiance and service are excellent. It’s as close to dining in Italy as you can get without hoping on a plane.
The food is amazing and the wait staff couldn't have been nicer. If you're looking for a quiet, intimate experience, this isn't it. The atmosphere is energetic, and very loud. Overall, a great place to eat, but be aware if you want quiet conversation. We were celebrating a teen's birthday, and they went over the top to make it special for her.
It was very nice, our waiter and rest of the staff we’re incredibly friendly, food was amazing
Il cameriere Luigi, ma anche i suoi colleghi sono stati di una gentilezza estrema. Cibo buono, in particolare i formaggi ed i gelati sono eccezionali
We love the food here and the waitstaff is wonderful!
I just brought my mom from out of town and we loved the whole experience. Our server was right on, the cocktails were great snd the pasta superb. It’s also a great place in center city to have a classic Sunday spaghetti and meatballs dinner!
Meh the food is meh
They made us sit in the rain. They didn’t move us inside when it started pouring outside. We received poor service- we waited 15 minutes to be initially helped by a server and we treated in a rude manner probably because we appeared younger that their typical customers.
Best as always.
The food, drinks and service were great! Had a really nice time eating here.
Delicious food and wonderful service!
Many places in Philadelphia say they are "Italian." They are not (some are not even Italian -American). Caffe L'Aquila is Italian. The menu itself indicates this (and as such, those coming for the first time are a bit confused at first). Items on the menu are authentic (and there are no crazy, made up dishes often found at other places such as "chicken parm"). Each dish is cooked perfectly (no overdone pasta here). There is a very long wine list, with a good number of wines offered by the glass. Regulars enjoy the specialty menu, which changes weekly, so that they can taste some dish as it is made in a specific region of Italy. Service is appropriately welcoming, attentive and knowledgeable without being overbearingly friendly. Inside, on the second floor, it is quiet and relaxed while downstairs there is a bit more buzz. It is no wonder that this place has attracted a loyal clientele.
I’m 9th month pregnant and asked the hostess to sit us in a table with sofa. She refused, claiming that it is reserved for a table of 6.
Five minutes later she puts another couple in that same table! So disrespectful! At that minute, my dinner was already ruined.
