House of Gods - Bar
House of Gods is an acute clash of styles, broken rules and a balance of opposites. We believe beige is blasphemy and more is more. From our rooms to our cocktail bar, the hotel is built to immerse you in a world of unapologetic extravagance.
Very poor service had pre booked a table to be told by girl with I pad that it was a crap seat so I asked if I could sit out side as there was many empty seat to be told yes but if someone come along and wants it I will move you. Was then asked to take a picture of menu we stated we did not bring our phones and was told well I can take your order then. We went back to hotel room to collect phone took a picture of menu then asked if they could make us a cocktail which wasn’t on the menu to be told yes. Why could she not just take our order.
Scored food at a low level as they arent doing food just now, pitty really as this would have made our stay even more special, we had a fab time and will defanitely be back to stay in the near future well worth the money guys ypu were all amazing.
Amazing place, friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent cocktails and service
Service was awful, we were given a table that was not sturdy enough, my friend put her foot onto the base of the table and it fell over. Wasting 2 cocktails costing £9 each. Took the staff a good 5mins to come over to help clean up the mess. We never got offered any other drinks, we asked to move tables, got moved and still nobody came to take our order... So we paid out bill for the drinks that fell on the floor due to your table. We won't be back, which is a shame as I've only heard good reviews from House of Gods ☹️
Stayed at the hotel, from bar staff to check out staff they were brilliant.
Waited for 45 minutes for 3 cocktails, probably won’t rush to go back
Food was rated as 1 star only because there was none available.
A wide range of cocktails on the menu and they were happy to create classic cocktails as well! Drinks were lovely but the space felt a bit cramped
No food available at the time of our visit but they plan to open a Resturant soon. Staff are brilliant and they really make the experience great. Cocktails are awesome 👍
The cocktails were excellent, any not on the menu could be created at your request
Service was very slow- and not much attention to empty glasses! = lost sales!
We would definitely return as it is a lovely place
Staff were really friendly, good drinks and amazing atmosphere.
The bar is stunning
The cocktails were very much not to my taste. Had high expectations, disappointed.
I won’t be returning to HOG any time soon. I had arranged to meet there for a friends reunion. We were met with pleasant staff, I will admit. However, the cocktails we ordered were of a very poor quality and badly presented. We were then asked to vacate our table 45 minutes prior to our allocated time. When I challenged this, the waiter argued with me then walked away. One member of our party had a piece of luggage stored on arrival and our request to have it returned at our departure, was met with an air of great inconvenience from the staff.
I won’t be back, my friends won’t be back and I really do hope that there is a serious consideration given to acquiring some experienced, loyal and dedicated staff members going forward.
Went here for drinks and it took the staff 15 minutes before they even came to ask us what drinks we wanted. They prioritised cleaning glasses over actually attending to their customers. The cocktail I got was rancid! We heard great things about the hotel but the bar was such a let down. The horrible smell was over powering like potpourri on steroids. I’m asthmatic so literally had to leave after the one horrible drink we waited ages for because the smell was so bad. We won’t be back.
The cocktail bar was absolutely lovely. Really nice atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Cocktails were amazing too.
Low stars left for food as there was not the option for food service. But bar that the place was very nice and would definitely recommend/go again
We sat inside and it really is an ‘instagramable’ venue, matched with a great atmosphere and cocktails! The cocktail prices are in line with Edinburgh, but they also do ‘ordinary’ drinks which are very reasonable. I would highly recommend for an occasion, date or if your feeling boujie! We didn’t eat here so we cant comment on the food but would definitely go back to try it :)
Staff were lovely and drinks were nice! However, we were sat on two small poufs with an even smaller table in between not very comfortable if planning on staying long. Unfortunately, due to this we had one drink and left - having booked a few months in advance was pretty disappointed with the seating/table. Not so much a bar more of a hotel waiting area they’ve turned into a bar as hotel entry is through the ‘bar’ so guests coming in and out walking past tables. Sadly I won’t be back.
Expensive cocktails by inexperienced bartenders. Service poor, as is the interior layout. Been marketed through social media and influencers as the place to be, I can honestly say it’s not.
The House of Gods was a good enough experience. It was no where as special as I thought it was going to be. I think what initially put us off was that one of the waiters, a young man, was quite rude and dismissive. We asked for a certain cocktail and were told that we couldn’t have that as they didn’t have the ingredients. He said it in such a flat and blunt tone that we honestly thought that he was going to laugh and say that he was kidding. When we said, you are joking, he answered in a really deadpan way (as though we were stupid), why would I joke about that? So, that put us on the back foot. He was just really unfriendly, although he seemed to be smiling away at everyone else. He did ask if our drinks were okay, but it just felt like he was going through the motions and we found him quite rude. The other staff were lovely and the drinks were okay. The menu is quite limited, which is fine if all of the ingredients are in, but we couldn’t try everything we wanted. I can say I’ve been at least, but it didn’t make the best impression.
Such a great and funky bar that is well situated. The cocktails were fab along with amazing service. Csnt wait to visit again!
Drinks were amazing , atmosphere was so relaxed and all the staff were so nice
Really did not live up to the hype, staff weren't great and the place felt like it had zero atmosphere.
Incredible hotel, the staff were welcoming and super friendly.
The lighting, music and decor all made it that much more special
The house of gods is my happy place to go to in Edinburgh. If u haven’t been you must!!
We only had drinks,no food, but plenty of staff on,most were attentive.Very dark inside.
Amazing service and atmosphere, had such a fantastic night and cant wait to return
The ambience is unmatched, it was great for date night, very cosy and romantic feeling. The staff were really friendly and the drinks were great!
Great however was a complete pack of social distancing between tables. Also we’re told to leave half an hour early due to it being busy even tho booking confirmation stated we had table for 2 hours.
Didn’t eat any food but based on everything else, I’m sure it would have been amazing!!!
Friendly staff, we booked outside but found it a bit cold so asked to move inside, no issues at all! Fast service with a nice relaxed vibe! Would recommend!
We were placed at a tiny table inside and had to sit side by side...I found it incredibly awkward and uncomfortable so we asked to move outside. It was slightly better but I wasn't feeling it and didn't like the cocktails (my personal issue) so we just left and went back to the room.
The service at House of Gods was excellent. Staff were quick and knowledgable. All staff were eager to help. Would definitely visit again.
Very poor service. No change when we paid our bill. Rude staff.
Service was friendly and nice but the seating wasn't for us. We were on small stools by the door with a very low table. We moved to better seats once a couple left though and that was better. It was right under the speaker so a tad loud. Drinks were OK and we has an ok time but nothing to rave about I'm sad to say.
Wonderful experience in the hotel and cocktail bar! Staff are so pleasant and OMG they work hard!!! Service was tip top and we never had to wait long for our drinks. Oscar very kindly put us on a table outside which was very pleasant and he humoured us drunk oldies who’d scoffed quite a few delicious cocktails. Thank you for a magical experience x
We received glasses that were unclean and had lipstick on the rim for 2 of our rounds. When brought to the staff’s attention we were advised it was due to the type of lipstick that was worn and because the venue was dimly lit that the bar staff couldn’t always see how clean the glasses were.
Cocktails were amazing and staff were so helpful too
Fantastic drinks, great service and a really fun, decadent atmosphere! My no 1 place to go in Edinburgh!!
