Hyde Away Inn & Restaurant
Enjoy dining in at The Hyde Away Inn. Executive Chef, Chris Harmon and the rest of our talented kitchen staff carefully prepare New American cuisine. We have worked hard over the years to make our restaurant the kind of place that we would enjoy. Great food. Fair prices. The freshest ingredients.
In addition to our regular menu, we have a wonderful wine list and Micro-Brews from Vermont and elsewhere on tap. We welcome all well behaved children and offer a play area off our living room to help keep them entertained. The atmosphere is comfortable and unpretentious — just how we know you’ll like it. Enjoy our comfortable dining room. Eat on our outdoor deck & patio in the warmer months or in the Tavern. We’re open to the public seven nights a week.
Hyde Away is consistently yummy and the service, even though they were a little short staffed, was terrific. Our group of 11 had an excellent experience!
Relaxed, friendly atmosphere, good food and drink, pub menu offers reasonabl prices. I had some outstanding bbq ribs.
Awesome Place good food nice decor. Very friendly staff
Obnoxious Norwic group was way too loud.
Excellent value! Food is always good and GREAT service. Special thanks to JENNIFER for this last part. Highly recommended.
We ate dinner at the bar. The bartender was wonderful- friendly, attentive, just great. We both had the cod special. Perfect!
What a great casual place to eat in the Mad River Valley. Great tuna tartar, and the lamb burger special was highly rated too. Can't go wrong.
Did a great job with food allergies and the waitstaff was very good.
We had to wait an hour for our food. Though the bar area was not crowded. The reason given was a large party in the dining room. When our food finally came, the burger was rare when ordered as well done. So we ate while one person had to wait to have their food re cooked which took 15 minutes. The waitress was hardly apologetic not did she offer anything to tide her over. In the end they did not charge for the burger - the experience started out well but went way downhill. May have been just a bad night in the kitchen but the waitress did not help.
Everyone in our group of 4 had an excellent meal. Entrees included fish special (Mahi), lamb half-rack, veal chop, and the meat special (steak and boar). All were well prepared and presented. Great meal and service!
Great food warm atmosphere great for families a little of something for everyone
The food at the Hyde Away is always consistently delicious. It's our favorite restaurant in the Mad River Valley.
Fabulous food. Nice service. It had families, noisy with kids. My expectation was a quieter, more intimate experience. I was off on that. Just not the quaint experience I wanted. The food and the service was great though.
Hello - We are pleased to hear you enjoyed both the food and service. I see you dined with us last Friday. Friday and Saturday during the ski season are very busy nights. Creating quiet and quaint experiences is very difficult those nights. We hope you can join us again on a quieter night. Jean
We enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Hyde Away Inn's Tavern during a skiing getaway. Great service from our waiter combined with a wonderful meal. Ambience was comfortable and casual - fun place to stop after a day on the slopes!
We visit Sugarbush every year and always make sure we stop in at least once for dinner. This year, 2 nights in a row. We always get the tuna tartar that is amazing and now we have our 8 year old daughter loving it. First time eating raw fish. Food always amazing. The duck appetizer was delicious!
We did not have reservations but we did get a lovely table. Very fun, lively place. Definitely recommend and we will go back again!
Nice place. Had the pork Osso Bucco and a bottle of wine. It was pretty good and reasonably priced.
Have been vacationing in this area all week, and it was the most enjoyable meal I've had.
Great restaurant good variety of food quality food, tuna tartare a must! Nice people nice service easy
A regular stop when I am in town. The place is wonderful and the staff does a great job!
Jennifer was very attentive. Cozy, friendly place, with great food and drinks. Looking forward to my next visit!!
The Friday night cod was wonderful. After a day of skiing, we needed some bread to fill us up! The brownie dessert was perfectly sized to share.
Had not been back to the Hyde Away in many years, and was happy to find it in good order. Food was very good, with lots of comfort options, and service was good.
Cozy, quaint restaurant with delicious food and excellent service. We will definitely be back!
Took over an hour from the time we ordered to the time we were served. Everyone in the room where we ate arrived after us and were served before us. Some even left before we were served.
Food ranged from good to awful. The chicken stew was watery and lukewarm. Ambience was OK.
Never disappointed when I come to this restaurant. The food and drinks are amazing. The staff are very friendly and fast. Every time I am in Waitsfield skiing at Sugarbush this is my go to place for dinner.
Great ambiance and good food. Our server was great and enjoyed talking to some of the locals. Glad we were able to make a reservation and get in. I understand the wait can be long at times. Would definitely be on the list of places to again frequent when back in the area, particularly during the winter.
Everything was great! Our waitress Jennifer was knowledgeable and friendly, the food and drinks were great! Out of 2 appetizers, 5 meals, 2 adult beverages and the apple cider almost everything was exceptional. The only thing we didn't love was the baked cod special, it was not very creative and more breadcrumb-y than anything. Every time we visit the area, we will eat there!
My husband and I had a lovely dinner in the Hyde Away restaurant during the holidays. The staff was very busy, I think they overlooked the restaurant, so the wait was little excessive for a New-Yorker but hey it was the holiday season. So we nursed a bottle of red till it was our turn and it was wort it. My duck gnocchi were amazing and my husband pork chop just perfect.
Delicious home cooked food. Only a few choices (could find this a con), but something for everyone. Everything was so tasty and the ambiance was very cozy. 5 stars!
Always love dining at Hyde Away. Consistently fabulous. Thank u
We have enjoyed dinner at the HydeAway several times in the last 10 years. We have enjoyed the hyper local offerings and look forward to going back again and again. Our waitress Jennifer was great! She made some excellent suggestions and did a great job coaxing the younger teens in our group to try something new while serving us with timeliness and understanding. Excellent local beer and a interesting bourbon menu.
We have never had a bad meal or poor service. The staff and Managment were invested in making sure our group had a great experience and a wonderful meal.
We will go back and I have recommended to friends and chairlift companions time and again!
Super delicious and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a great meal and can't wait to go back next time we are in Vermont.
We have been coming here for years and the food has always been amazing. The atmosphere is cozy and quiet and the staff is always very friendly. Nothing bad I can say about this place.
Hyde-Away is one of our go-to locations. The food is superb, the staff is personable, and I've only ever had the best experiences. The tuna tartar is legendary, and our server, Ethan, gave us the perfect amount of attention, was always there to check on entrees or refresh a drink, but did not hover. I emphatically recommend the Hyde Away.
Was recommended by our Innkeeper, but service was lousy and the food was above average.
This restaurant was a nice casual place to go for an average meal. The $4.00 bread dish is definitely over priced and would have been a standard freebie at most restaurants. There are not very many choices in this area, so I would likely eat here again when staying at Sugarbush.
Unfortunately we were seated in the one area of the restaurant (the round room of the Tavern) that was lacking atmosphere and not nearly as cozy and cute as the rest of the restaurant. The staff was nice enough to accommodate for an adjustment of the size of our party last minute, so I believe that's why we wound up there.
That is the only complaint though, as the food was good, and our server was extremely sweet and the service was excellent. We all really loved the tuna tartare!
The food was delicious but our waitress really made the experience a memorable one. She spent the time necessary to explain the menu and make suggestions, and she was so down to earth. We never felt we were being an inconvenience. I wish I could remember her name!!!! It was our wedding anniversary and we would absolutely go back :)
This is a very friendly place for a casual dinner or for something a bit more “fancy”. The food was great... not weird, but with a creative flair to make it interesting. Diners have a choice of several different rooms to est in, including the lively bar. Locals love it, and visitors are welcomed warmly!
