First time at Idylwood Grill. Not overly fancy outside but decent ambiance inside. Excellent waiter, service was prompt. The food was excellent. I had the flounder Francaise and it was one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time - perfectly done and very flavorful, great presentation! My wife had chicken piccata and it too had a great look, was perfectly done, and tasted great so she says. My son had a beef and noodles (Burgundy?) plate that was also very good and I got to taste his. We had a lamb sausage appetizer that was also very good. We highly recommend Idylwood Grill and we look forward to going back again. Oh yes, we also were able to make reservations easily.
Attentive service. Excellent food
We went for dinner w/ my in-laws and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. They’ve done a terrific job w/Covid safety precautions and we felt very safe. We were celebrating my birthday and they brought out a delicious chocolate mousse cake w/candle which we all shared. LOVE this restaurant!! Amazing food, wines, and value!
As I have said many times before this restaurant is the best keep secret in Northern Virginia. Love it
Can’t recommend Idylwood Grill enough. Food is absolutely delicious, service is unmatched, they have a great wine list, and overall it’s just perfect for a date night. This is a place that retains the charm of a unique restaurant with amazing dishes, and has become one of our most visited places recently.
We always have a delightful time at the Idlewood Grill!
This was one of first indoor dining experiences since the beginning of the pandemic. Food was just as wonderful, delicious and fresh as we remembered. Service was terrific too. We will return very soon.
I was shocked at how good this place was. The shopping mall where it is looks a bit ... Sketchy. Overlook that. The food is sublime. The wine list is small but excellent. The service could not have been better. I will be back. I thoroughly enjoyed myself
Another great meal at Idylwood Grill. We started with the mussels, which were exceptional and then moved on to two of the specials for the night. All were great and paired with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir. A great gem in the area.
We were the only table there on a weeknight for most of our meal. All three of us really enjoyed our wine and entrees - the salmon pasta special, seafood linguine, and veal piccata. All delicious as was the bread and the shared tiramisu for dessert. This is the first indoor dining we have done since October - and looking forward to returning soon.
The food was delicious and the service perfect. Very good wine list. Will be back!
Excellent food and service. Love the food. It was like home made food.
Very nice place, clean and relatively quiet. Bread was...hot, fresh, but just okay. The mussels were small, but delicious as was the broth. The stuffed flounder was delicious! We all enjoyed food very much and the service was excellent. It is a bit pricey, but for the quality I would say worth it for sure.
My first visit since pandemic began and all was exactly as I remembered it. Food was fabulous. But don’t want to give away my favorite spot. So you probably wouldn’t like it. 😂
We were a party of five with 6:30pm reservation. We arrived precisely on time and were seated as scheduled.
My wife and I have come here (Idylwood Grill or "IG") since the restaurant opened many years ago. At the time we lived in Dunn Loring so this was close to home, the service was always gracious, the menu was more than expected for such a small space, and the food was dependably delicious. We've since relocated to a new home a few miles away and hadn't returned to the IG since the pandemic hit us all. We decided it was time to return and we invited new neighbors to join us.
The good news......only the number of available tables has changed (due to CV-19 spacing rules). The service, menu, and quality of food remain A+.
Calamari and shrimp appetizers were shared and enjoyed. Ditto for shared salads. Main courses included flounder francaise, veal piccata, almond-crusted salmon, and chicken piccata. All were perfectly seasoned/prepared and accompanied by above- average sides of mixed vegetables and starch.
To our delight, we happened to be there on Tuesday night, and wines are 1/2 price Monday-Tuesday evenings! The wine list is limited but certainly adequate.
The only "minus".... we were seated adjacent to the entryway. On a very cold night this tended to be pretty uncomfortable anytime someone entered or exited the restaurant.
We're just glad the IG has managed to stay open despite the incredibly difficult financial duress brought on by the pandemic, and through it all they've maintained the high quality we've enjoyed for 15 or so years. We will return (and our new neighbors say they will do likewise)!
Excellent as always. Their blacked scallops set the bar pretty high. The shrimp ajo and filet were delicious, as well. We tried a whine on a recommendation, and enjoyed every sip. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
Fabulous food, very personable and attentive service. The location is not on the main drag, and the temporary COVID placement has led to some quirks in the visual ambiance. But.... the food is marvelous. I don't often even bother writing reviews, much less gush, but it was a great date dinner. I had the stuffed flounder, my wife had the filet mignon. The flounder was light and delicious, with vegetables cooked to a light flavor and texture. The sauces on the filet threw my wife into happy nostalgia, she had not tasted anything like it in many years. It is on the pricy side, but the quality was high.
Restaurant temperature was very cold, steak was cold and we were not offered another drink.
Valentines Day
Looks can be deceiving. This was my first meal at Idylwood Grill, chosen based on good reviews and being nearby on a bad weather night. I was worried when pulling into the parking lot of a strip center with Idylwood Grill tucked in the middle and its neon “open” sign on. Fast forward into the evening— the food was outstanding. There were four of us, and all had appetizers and dessert as well, and all of it was fantastic. The good reviews for the food were justified. They also had done a good job of distancing tables and hanging tasteful clear plexiglass panels for added safety. The decor is modest. This is not a place to go if you want or need vale service. This is not a place to go to impress someone with the ambiance or architecture. This IS a place to go for really good food. And the service was very good. And the wines were good. And the price range was embarrassingly reasonable by DC standards for that level of food. It left me thinking this is a place that says ‘we’re going to have a pleasant and clean space but focus on really good food instead of dazzling people with our decorating or our address.’ I will absolutely go back.
I had Shrimp Ajo followed by flounder stuffed with crab and shrimp, my wife had some of the best mussels she’s ever had followed by some really outstanding scallops and risotto. The rest of our party had a very tender chicken picatta and a ravioli dish with an intense and wonderful mushroom sauce and wilted spinach. I sampled all of the dished and would recommend each of them (the scallops were my favorite.)
Amazing food. Great service.
The food was so savory and delicious! I enjoyed the crab cake, while my husband enjoyed the veal entree. The German chocolate cake was amazing! The ambiance was nice although the room temperature was a bit on the chilly side.
Food was delicious and the service was excellent.
THIS IS A MUST GO TO PLACE. I HAVE BEEN AN EAGER CUSTOMER SINCE THE DAY THEY OPENED. THE FOOD, SERVICE, QUALITY AND PEOPLE ARE EXCELLENT.
Idylwood Grille is a great restaurant-food is outstanding-service and ambiance as good as any
We had a lovely dinner on Friday night and we felt totally safe inside the restaurant. Every staff member was wearing a mask, tables were spaced appropriately, and as always, the food was delicious! I miss going out to eat, and so glad I chose Idyllwood Grill for my special birthday dinner. The lobster ravioli was to die for!!!!!
Food was very good but prices are too high for neighborhood restaurant. Is is not an upscale atmosphere but the food is very pricey.
Outstanding local restaurant. Highly recommended!
We first visited Idylwood Grill in 2013 and have been impressed each and every time we have returned. From the comfortable family feel to the exceptional food quality and value. They have addressed the COVID challenge well and offer a splendid dinning experience. Make your reservation, give them a visit and keep them in business.
Real Gem, well kept secret. Menu covers a wide spectrum of choices.
Our family ordered different entrees and shared. All were good choices
Will be coming back on a regular basis.
Food pricing quite reasonable.
Wine, good selection but pricey. Would be nice to have lesser cost choices.
Service was attentive, but not annoying, making for an enjoyable experience.
This is one of the best restaurants in Virginia. Love the place
A small out of the way restaurant with a BIG heart and menu. The chef is amazing. From chicken piccata to crab cakes on mushroom ravioli, you cannot go wrong here. Desserts are beautiful and homemade. All wines are half price.
My husband & I had an excellent meal & experience with 2 other couples. Went for dinner. For inside dining, their Covid procedures with having the tables distanced & then separated by a clear plastic partition were great. My main course was the crab cake with ravioli and it was delicious. We got a bottle of chianti. For dessert had the house made key lime pie. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. Another big plus, that the restaurant had a quiet ambience so it was very easy to hear each other talk.
Great place to eat.
we had the one of two tables outside and it was perfect...service, ambience, food all excellent. so glad I could dine there
As I have said many times-Idylwood Grill is absolutely great and we love dining there
The four of us had delicious appetizers, entrees, dessert and enjoyed half-priced wine. The German chocolate cake is homemade. The duck and chicken specials were superb as was the chicken piccata. Lovely atmosphere. Dean is an excellent server.
Never a bad meal here!
many different entrees to choose from (unlike many corporate chains in the NoVA area!)
Idylwood Grill is a class act! It's a hidden gem on Pimmit Drive in Falls Church, just around the corner from Tysons Corner. The food is absolutely delicious, combining European and American flavors which make it a true treat.
The owner is most welcoming and well versed in the art of hostessing. I took my daughter and her boyfriend there for her 21st birthday and have to say that nothing fell short of being absolutely perfect. This place is a MUST for everyone who wants to enjoy a meal in a warm neighborhood restaurant that boasts excellent cuisine and a simple but nonetheless sophisticated environment!
Good food and homemade desserts
