A tried and true place to go when you are willing to spend a little more than usual for really well prepared Italian food. I am basically a cheapskate but I see and appreciate 100 percent of the value for the money spent.
Excellent as always. Food was near perfect and the wine was exceptional. Service is unparalleled.
For twenty years this has been our favorite restaurant for special occasions. When the previous owner retired a few years ago we worried that service might decline but they've kept up the same commitment to excellence.
The food was superb. We ordered halibut, octopus and porcini soufflé!!!
Of course Vini as always was wonderful !!
We have been dining at Il Capriccio since it opened almost 40 years ago. It has always been an outstanding dining experience, and we hope it continues for a good long time in the future.
spectacular food, wine, staff, and all around great space -
Our dining experience was excellent. Food quality and wine list were superb, as I've experienced before. It was a little loud at times but we always could hear each other. Timing, getting seated, the reservations process, payment and all that administrative matter was perfectly executed.
We get totally satisfied with every plate we order every time!!
Our favorite dining establishment for many years.
We have been going to Il Capriccio for 11 years quite often! WE have yet to have an "even Ok" meal...It is always outstanding!! Delicious, consistent, a complete experience! As is the the service...Vinny, Liz, Linda, Mahatai....everyone! We have brought many friends over the years & they all beg us to bring them back...or go on their own & introduce other friends!
The drinks are great the appetizers are amazing the entrees & the desserts defy words! Just beyond outstaning! We often go to some highly praised, costly restaurants in Boston. Il Capriccio far exceeds them all The cost is not unreasonable as many Boston restaurants can be. Il Capriccio's portions are more than enough & the value is certainly manageable!
The veal scallopini and the lobster risotto was outstanding. The best way to enjoy the meal is to share the appetizers and desserts all of which were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Too noisy, however... staff did great to accommodate us... we were late and then requested a different table.... very easy about it.... thanks
This restaurant never disappoints..
The food is beautiful. Flavor, presentation, and overall experience was perfect. Friendly and attentive staff. Brought a business associate from out of town, and the first comment after dinner was, let's go again.
Food was good but menu is fairly limited. Started with soft shell crab and gravelax. Both were good but not fabulous. Mains were gnocci with sea food and ravioli with asparagus and morels. Again both good. Dessert of lemon mousse was excellent. Service was very good as was the ambiance.
Amazing food and excellent service! Definitely coming back!
The chicken liver appetizer was the best I’ve ever had!
This is perhaps the best restaurant in Massachusetts, and I say that having been to most of the ones you will find in lists on line at every price point.
The food and wine especially shine here, although the service is always good and the ambiance does not disappoint either. Everything is made in house by the chef-owner, and the care of his and his staff show in every aspect of the dining experience.
Wonderful meal, attentive staff, always a dining pleasure!
Each time we dine here, we are always pleased with the quality and consistency of our entire experience. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the area for our “date” nights without the kids.
From the warm greeting we receive, to the excellent wine selections, the friendly/relaxed staff and service, and most importantly the amazing food. Our favorite entrees include the Veal Chop and the Chicken Schnitzel.
Highly recommended for any occasion - date night, special event, or just to end a long week on a high note with a wonderful meal and great bottle of wine!
IT WAS FABULOUS AS USUAL - THE FOOD PERFECTLY PREPARED AND SERVED.
I almost never write reviews but tonight’s dinner prompted me to do it. Have been coming to Il Capriccio for many years but had not been there in a while. So glad to have gone back as it was the best meal I have had in a long time. The Ricotta and Asparagus Ravioli was complex but perfectly balanced and the veal tenderloin was incredible. No wonder they have been around for so many years. Staff was knowledgeable, friendly and attentive. Would recommend highly and will be back soon. Thanks to all!
If you want authentic Italian food with incredible selections for food and wine— you have found the right location.
Whenever I’m in Waltham I come here for dinner.
Without question— the best for food, wine, and service!!
The food is consistently excellent. The wine list well chosen and the service attentive.
Both of our appetizers, the Chilled Calamari Salad and the Large Spiced Gulf Shrimp with Roast Pineapple and Reduced Moscato d’Asti were amazingly fresh and prepared perfectly. Our main courses, the Pan Roasted Duckling, Marsala, Porcini and Baked Polenta and the Semolina Crusted Soft Shell Crabs Sauteed with Orange, Red Onion and Garlic on French Lentils were both excellent. As we were having a seafood and non-seafood entree we asked for advise on a wine. The white wine we went with, based upon Jan's recommendation, was the perfect complement to our meal.
Looking forward to our next visit.
This was a very nice clean place. The food was presented well and tasted delicious.
The service was warm and friendly- the server was very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations. Nice wine list with good value selections offered!
Another exceptional meal. The 5 of us all had different entres and all were wonderful. Strongly recommend for a great dining experience.
Service was great,my husband ordered black risotto ,only a couple of small pieces of lobster in the 35.00 plate and much to salty.
My lasagna was also much to salty,we couldn't drink enough the rest of the evening.
Because it was just two of us dinning,we were seated at a tiny table next to a very loud couple, who ended up having an argument which was very uncomfortable being so close to them.
I was looking forward to a quiet dinner with my husband and expected more after spending 150.00 for dinner for the two of us .
I had dinner with two old friends the other night- my best friend and Il Capriccio. The octopus was perfectly spiced and the halibut so fresh it melted in my mouth. My friend had the mussels - completely delicious. Fantastic service - as always. Another wonderful evening courtesy of the Il Capriccio team. Thank you!
In general this is a great place overall (but not cheap). Nice decor, great service, wonderful food, and a good looking wine list. My main regret is that I don't have my old capacity for food and drink - there were a lot of things that I wanted to try but just couldn't "fit" in. Specifically, the Linguine Carbonara was other worldly and the Lemon Mousse dessert is not to be missed. I thought I was too full for dessert but the mousse was perfect, very light with a wonderfully bold flavor, it was the perfect ending to a great meal. The Antipasti was great (PEI Mussels and Large Spiced Shrimp) as well as the Ricotta and Asparagus Ravioli. I didn't taste the Chocolate Budino dessert but my dining partner seemed to really enjoy it, but I don't think it qualified as "light." Had a couple of great selections from the interesting wine - would have liked to explore further.
Everything was delicious!!
Birthday dinner for my spouse. They sprinkled birthday graffiti on the table as they seated us. Spouse had the grapefruit with greens salad and veal chop. I had baked pate with scallop and lobster/squid risotto with squid ink. Desert came with a single candle in the whip cream. No birthday singing (good). It's been a while since we were there, but will go back.
Wow! Everything is on point at Il Capriccio! The French influence on Northern Italian fare at this elegant, little restaurant makes for a truly unique dining experience. I usually dine out in Boston but Il Capriccio is well worth the trip out west to Waltham. When I go out I’m looking for three things: Food, Service, and Wine. Il Capriccio delivers on all three with refined cuisine, exceptional service and a world class wine list. The menu is extensive and offers great variety. Our server, Jodi, was excellent and left us wanting for nothing. The wine list rivals some of the best restaurants in Boston. Jan, the sommelier was a great resource to us in picking a delicious Italian red from a boutique producer in Sicily. Overall, a wonderful experience. Will be back!
Exceptional food and hospitality in a comfortable setting and convenient location. Halibut perfectly prepared. Shrimp appetizer, salads, carbonara and dessert all excellent. Wonderful wines and cocktails. Made a plain Saturday night a special evening. What more could you ask for. We will be returning soon.
An absolute gem. A frequent guest, I have never had a dish there that was anything less than delicious. Service is consistently excellent. A+
Words cannot express how consistent and outstanding every dining experience I have had, has been at this restaurant.
The service, people, and the quality of the food, are all second to none!
I have been dining here for years, and the food continues to be ever more impressive and innovative. Better than any Italian restaurant downtown, by far!
Absolutely worth a trip to the suburbs! Highly recommended.
The food was great and the service was amazing! Mark and Jody were wonderful, friendly and so helpful!
Food was delicious, service was attentive, and ambience was wonderful. We can't wait to come back!
