40 mn to wait for our table to get ready.. at 10:30pm!
One step above your local Asian take out restaurant. Small portions, very noisy and spotty service. Worst of all, over charged the bill by 25% adding drinks and appetizers that were not ordered. Check your bill. Would not recommend or go back.
Delicious food , excellent service..but table of loud screeching people close to us made us feel as though we were in a bad movie.
Everyone was very friendly and professional. The place was dimly lit and the seating was relatively comfortable. The service was attentive. But it was very noisy. The appetizers were salty, especially the baby back ribs. The noodle salad was almost too spicy for my friend to eat. But my spicy shrimp we both agreed was delicious. We had a nice time but agreed that we wouldn't go back.
went for a friends birthday and they prepared a plate with cake and even wrote the birthday boys name
Indochine has sadly gone downhill. After thirty some years that's perhaps understandable, but a more likely explanation is what our server said: it's become a "high volume restaurant," not the in-crowd clubhouse it used to be. We'll go back and give it another try, and hope to see friends and eat better, but lowered expectations do not a favorite restaurant make.
Awesome food, service and ambiance. Just need to do something about the acoustics... Quite loud...
It's very good food and if it's the scene you are looking for than it's worth going. It is, however, very expensive and a bit too trendy for my taste.
Love Indochine but this last time was underwhelming. Arrived 6:00 for 8:00 show across the st. which we told them about. They were pretty busy, still, we didnt get our check until 7:55 and even then there was some confusion. They brought us 2 pots of tea that were tepid---not even warm really. So we ask to have them removed. A very tall and not nice red headed model/hostess came over to ask why we wanted tea removed. We told her it wasnt hot. She ratcheded up and said that was impossible--she boiled it herself. We basically laughed bc serioulsy, honey, you didnt boil anything yourself, but besides that, it was tepid! We're not trying to get free water from you. She was really bad at her job except the part where she looks really good. I had to run across the st. and get seats while they finished paying.
The food is truly delicious, so it's unfortunate that it's overshadowed by the early aughts attitude of the hosts and servers. It's not 2005, and they aren't extras in Sex and the City. Maybe it would be less of a scene early on a Monday, or if they serve lunch, perhaps. Also, a friend called to send over a bottle of wine as a gift, and they charged the friend but failed to deliver the wine to our table.
Been coming for 30 years. Always fab
Always good fun and fun ambiance. Indochine never disappoints!!!
The meals were just exquisite. I highly recommend it!!!!
Consistently excellent food and service, fairly priced for a spot with such history and elegance.
Always a scene
Service was rushed and plates were cleared before we were all finished each course. Food was good. Ambience was good
One of favorite NYC staples. Never disappoints. Amazing food and great service
This restaurant was absolutely amazing!
Great service and the vibe was like being part of NYC restaurant history.
Had to send a fish dish back - food very uneven - what happened to this place ?
Food was good but the noise levels were crazy. It was fairly early on a Saturday evening but there were 12 or so on the table next to us and we couldn’t hear our own conversation due to the noise from theirs. The service was pretty quick but it felt like they were rushing to get us through the meal and out. I had been previously on a week night when the vibe was much more chilled. We didn’t love the scene so much on a Saturday - there were people everywhere in the bar area waiting for tables and it was a bit of a scrum to get out. Overall wouldn’t go back on the weekend.
From the moment we arrived until we departed, the experience was truly a delight. The food was a perfect blend of flavors and the presentation was gorgeous. The staff members were all elegantly dressed and most attentive and helpful. All three of us felt it was one of the best dinners we have had and will definitely return.
Waited 40 min for our table!
Never disappoints. Great for people watching, great food and service.
The non alcoholic elderflower martini was probably the best thing I had there. The shrimp springs rolls with peanut sauce were delicious and the seasoning on the sea bass, on the spot. But it stops there. Nothing special on the fried spring rolls or orange drink. Just regular. The amok cambodgien was heinous. The first bite was okay then I was disgusted by the strong smell from the banana leafs afterwards. Just no.
The service was just ok, several small flaws made the experience just average.
We have been going since the 80s
Valentine’s Day and nostalgia
Everything and I mean everything was absolutely delicious! We are still talking about the food and it’s been three days!I’m dating myself to say that I remember when Indochine first opened in the 80’s . But I was astonished at how the restaurant has maintained its quality and integrity throughout these many years. A must do!
The food was great, though portion sizes were on the small side. Even rice was not included with entrees. Place was packed and noisy, but still good.
The server was rude, got our order wrong. Never saw her after that. Service was non existent. When we told the manager we got a ho hum, ok? I’ve been there many times before. It was pretty clear that two women dining alone were not important as tables around us were getting waited on. One main course came out incorrect the other was a well done steak that was ordered rare. You could have set your hair on fire to get help.
The atmosphere is very nice. The service was ok. The food is very good. But the noise level is so high, we had to scream to the other couple we were with and had to keep saying what? Another couple was squeezed into next to us. I would not return based on this. It was not relaxing to talk to the other couple we were with. I recommended the restaurant and was sorry I did.
Great as always!!
Wanting something more eclectic and hip? This is it! Food was delicious and the ambiance was like walking into a some exotic night party. Drinks were amazing, music on point and the people FAB!
A great place!
I love its atmosphere !
Always fantastic! I’ve been coming to Indochine for decades when I’m in town. A real treat.
Sorry to say that the food had taste but was overcooked, the meat dish was mainly lumps of fat. The spring rolls were average at best but overcooked and so on. I would return to that place
I've been going to this restaurant, off and on, since it opened...some thirty years ago. The bar's great - almost always a seat, and no matter who the bartender is, he/she is nice. It's got a nice, warm feeling. The restaurant's a great one, but it now feels, disappointingly, like a scene, e.g. me and my two grown kids got seated at a table in the way back, by the kitchen, (you know the drill); and we're not half-bad looking – but this made me conscious of the fact we "weren't worth seeing." Also, until we pushed back, the wait staff – gorgeous super model types, but also nice – gave us the full court press to order fast, eat the food delivered fast, and then – get the heck out! Not for my money, no way. We stayed a while; they eventually got it, and left as alone. So: in my opinion, Indochine is a great NYC restaurant, one of the few greats remaining. Don't, then, "F" it up catering to a scene. Honor everybody who comes; there's huge karma in that, as well as $, I believe.
LOVED the food. Some of the women that worked there were extremely rude.
was here for restaurant week. Very tasty food. However ambiance was strange/pretentious and waitress was very standoff-ish. Wouldn't pay the full regular price.
Great nyc institution. Chic, elegant, consistently excellent experience.
