   Took 45 min to get served at 7.45 on a Friday. No excuses. Good average at best. Service was very disappointing. They said new chef?? We need new restaurants in Clayton but they need to do a lot more work before opening for dinner way before they were ready

   Ivy CafeResponded 5 days agoI remember your table. Your ticket time was 30 min, which I agree is longer than it should be, but it was not 45 min. We do have a new chef and in this VERY difficult market to find good staff I believe he did a great job! This is a very hard business to be in right now so when you go out you should be a little more patient and understanding and enjoy your bottle of wine and company you are with instead of be in such a hurry.    The Ivy Cafe is a place we went for a quiet evening drinks and small plates. The atmosphere was quaint with taper candles on each of the tables. The small plates were very good however felt like they were warmed up and not fresh. Prices for such fare seemed rather steep. You could tell that this was an establishment searching for its footing. The desert was dry like it had been left out all day. All in all not a bad experience but one that needs some time to grow

The dessert I took off your bill because I agree it was too dry for my liking as well and we should have caught that sooner so I do apologize.    We enjoyed the small plates, beet salad was outstanding and the chocolate cheesecake for dessert was excellent.

   I had dinner here with one of my best friends after seeing it on instagram and we absolutely loved the food. The fire roasted tomato/ricotta dish and the bacon dates were our favorites on the menu. Our waitress was incredibly helpful and showed us around their new dinner menu. It’s full of smaller plates so we were able to eat family style with a few different dishes. We will definitely be back!
