Here at the Jacobs Inn we believe in first impressions. The moment you step into the car park you'll see towering trees and beautiful flowers poking through the fences of our huge, award winning garden which boasts a huge open-air marquee, multiple terraced dining sections and a drinkers lawn/beer garden. Even coming alone you'll not feel lonely, our garden has our four resident celebrities, our pygmy goats, Eric, Ernie, Morecambe and Wise - That and a harem of chickens and cockerels. Inside, we have interior stretching back hundreds of years to when the Inn was a stonemasonry. We've got a grand dining room as well as a lovely bar area for you to enjoy your time with us. Our food is made in-house, with ingredients sourced from local businesses, this also goes for our extremely popular cocktails and goblets.

Local attractions to us are the river Thames and Port Meadow - which you take a stroll through and see wild horses and cattle roaming around.

We had a wonderful lunch here. A family of 8 from two different regions and what better place to meet. The farm area was a bonus we didn't expect the goats. Great food, lovely atmosphere also.

Came for lunch with friends. We ordered straight after friends as we were paying separately but our food took 20 minutes longer by which time our friends had finished eating. Food was mixed success. Lovely kids homemade burger, chicken burger also a success as was kids sausages and adult fish and chips. The lunch sandwiches let it down. Cheap roll with fishfinger sandwich and one small lettuce leaf. BLT had toasted bread and two layers which was difficult to eat, with a mustardy sauce which ruined the whole thing. I do appreciate this was personal preference. Both sandwiches would have been better on good quality untoasted bread. But lovely garden and atmosphere and friendly staff.

Beautiful location, lovely outdoor terraces with beautiful pots of flowers everywhere, friendly atmosphere. Went for Sunday roast - portions were huge and the roast (including a side of cauliflower cheese) was very yummy. Quality of dessert was not great ('Eton mess' - a favourite of mine and should be easy to make - turned out to be so-so ice cream with artificial-tasting strawberry syrup on it). Extra fun getting to pet the goats! Overall I'd definitely go again.

Quirky and eclectic venue with good ambience, food and helpful staff. Drinks are not cheap but well worth a visit if only to a see the mini farm in the beer garden!

A lively location, laidback atmosphere and decor. Pleasant and helpful staff. But let down by poor food - especially the overcooked oven pizzas. Not good value when you add in long wait owing to staff shortages.

My husband and I live locally and have chosen not to visit for a few years as the times we had gone we had been disappointed. We thought it was worth another try and want to support our local restaurants. The staff were kind and attentive but it did not feel like there was one person overseeing things. My husband had the prawns to start but they came cold. I had the squid which was find but the salad on the side looked sad and like it had maybe seen better days. It was the same for the side salad that I ordered separately. He ordered the pie next which was burnt on top and I had the steak which was fine but felt overpriced at £24. We had a drink outside in lower part of the garden. It looked so neglected and not clean. There were lots of broken parasols all over the place and empty glasses on tables. We can't fault the staff but we can't justify returning as going out is such a treat and should be special wherever you are and sadly it was not a special experience for us.

This place has gone downhill to be honest which is a real shame. I went for a treat for my 30th birthday and was very disappointed. I had a £26 rib eye steak which was 2/3 fat and when I mentioned it to the waiter I was given a blank stare. No apology or anything. Service was very poor also. I won’t be returning I’m afraid.

I have been to the Jacobs Inn before and had a great experience with great food. However, recently I was very disappointed in the food quality. It is still a nice place to go for a drink with great sized outdoor seating. Love the resident goats and chickens! But it will be just drinks for us for until they get back to food standard they used to be.

Food was lovely but we got charged an automatic 12.5% service charge for a small table of 4! They have farm animals in the outside area so I do question if it is hygenic especially since there is also a cat which presumably can move close to the farm animals and transfer bugs to the rest of the outdoor eating space.

An ok pub. Needed a Sunday roast and Jacobs Inn had lots of free tables. The food was ok tasting. Would have liked fresh veg instead of frozen. Unfortunately for desert we had a delicious chocolate orange torte but was served with Raspberries with mold on. The staff were friendly but not very efficient. They took our drinks order and we had to grab one of them to take our food order. Then at the end the bill came and they had charged us for 3 drinks we hadn’t ordered and put the 12.5% tip on automatically which I appreciate we could have asked to be reduced but obviously that makes it awkward. Unfortunately won’t go back as nicer pubs available in area.

Had to wait 15 minutes to get our table despite pre booking as no one around to help the poor young barmaid who was trying to cope with a tsunami of arrivals. Then almost another hour just to get our first drink and for us to order. After that ( and my going and speaking to someone inside) things improved and when it arrived the food was fine. But fellow diners all complaining, some more vociferously than others, Made it an uncomfortable environment for a quiet meal! Felt very sorry for the junior staff who seemed to be running the whole thing, and had neither the experience or the resources to deal with such a chaotic and unsatisfactory setup.

While the staff were very nice, the service was incredibly slow. Waited 35 minutes for our drinks despite asking after them 3 times. More staff needed! Food was excellent and arrived promptly. Not sure I agree with automatic 12.5 percent service charge either.

Jacobs inn food has gone done in my estimation. The Sunday roast was dry and overcooked with the vegetables soggy. The staff are young bored and unhelpful.
