Oh how the past illuminates the present within Johnny Goes Italian's memorabilia-soaked walls. The food and wine emerged like a helicopter from a fog and blasted rockets of flavour down our throats so fine I could cry. Hell, I just might. It's a bad, adorable crime to be so tasteful, and yet it's probably a worse crime to write such a rose-coloured review. Whatever, cuff me. At least I know the first place I'm eating when I make bail.
Always a great night!
Delicious food. Great inner-city vibe, yet cosy.
An enjoyable evening, great food by a gifted chef!
A warm greeting, concise but lovely menu, friendly and very attentive service made for a great night.
Great food with some very clever twists
Johnny was very friendly and a helpful host
And any food that tastes that good is value for money- wish I had enough room for the pasta - next time no doubt
Food was great.. staff even better.. nice to get good service for once. Will be going back
The cost of the wine and food were very expensive. The portions sizes were too smal for the cost of each plate. The menu was also very limited.
Love this restaurant, it's my second time back and it was just as amazing as I remember it to be. Food is always amazing, the service was warm and friendly. I'm a big fan!
I love the food here. I have been 3 times and crave it between visits.
We enjoyed very much once again. The food was delicious however I missed the risotto off the menu. Service was great as was my company of three girlfriends. Thank you.
I love this place. Very Melbourne and cool. Food is amazing. I am vegetarian and it’s always really interesting food.
Great wines and I love the staff
Delicious food (the beetroot ravioli was one of the best pasta dishes I've eaten when dining out recently), great service, lovely evening.
The risotto and squid ink and ravioli blew our minds and who doesn’t love Brussels sprouts
Thanks for a fabulous evening. The food was delicious, wine list fantastic and the service amazing. Such a cosy spot too. Thanks Peter for looking after us!
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was beautiful and ambiance perfect
Enjoyed all our food portion for the mezzaluna pasta a little small for a main but everything else was excellent. Very friendly helpful waiter. Will definitely go back
Food was Expensive for what it was. But lovely place for drinks.
We were immediately impressed, (even before entering the storefront - draped by curtain) once noticing the cue that extended outside of the restaurant. Luckily we had booked a table for three in advance - we encountered no difficulty with our seating arrangement, despite the bafflement and small number of staff on the floor. This restaurant’s intimate, welcoming, and fun vibes made us feel instantly comfortable - everything a wine bar should aim for. We were immediately shown the wine list, by a very friendly waiter. Despite being set on ordering cocktails, we were still impressed by the assortment of wines on offer. In terms of the food, I truly believe this Italian restaurant currently dishes some of the best pasta and risotto in the city. I highly accredit the chef behind the risotto cacio e pepe, which as simple as it may sound, was definitely the standout dish of the evening. All in all, we had a great experience at Buffalo Dining Club’s associate restaurant - certainly worth a visit if you’re looking for an authentic, Italian-inspired, sophisticated tasting experience in Sydney.
Incredible pasta. Fantastic value. Will certainly be back
The food was incredible! And the staff were so welcoming and friendly!!!
Cute place, the food was good, some dishes very good, but the portions were tiny.
Most mains were entree sized. Would have needed to order more than one main per person, but for that it was a bit too expensive.
I 've been to Johnny Fishbone quite often and every time I think that it can’t be as good as the time before, and I’m happy to discover that I’m always wrong.
Philip is one of the best chefs in Sydney.
The menù changes every week, sometimes twice a week, every time is a new experience, it’s impossible to get bored.
I truly believe that in this wine bar you can get the best food in Sydney, and I can tell you that my standards are quite high.
Excellent indigents combined magnetically, a real treat for your palate.
The wine list isn’t huge but the selection is great and very affordable.
Cosy venue always warm and welcoming, one of the few places where you can enjoy decent music.
The staff is always smiling, helpful and gives very good suggestions regarding food and wine and it,s super super friendly.
Its a simple menu with 3-4 options for entrees and mains - but all looked delicious it still make the decision hard to make!
Staff were super friendly and attentive, with a lovely unique wine menu (yes for orange wines!)
Just a shame that road works kicked in halfway through the meal (not their fault of course)
Would go again!
This is definitely one of the new hidden gems in Sydney. Killer wines, cocktails are great and we've been twice now and almost tried all the dishes which are all superb.
Great little spot and perfect for foodies. Lovely service and dinner was excellent - lots of small plates all beautifully prepared amd exotic flavours to try.
Regularly changing menu, friendly vibe.....recommend you sit at the bar and engage with the friendly staff.
We loved it !!! The food was really tasty and original !!!
Good food and wine but overpriced. Fantastic service. Music slightly too loud for date conversation! I get they want to create a cool vibe but having to yell over the music is just annoying.
Great food and great service. The food was fresh and full of Flavor.
Will be back.
Came here for my partners birthday and it was the perfect spot for a couple without being too overly romantic. The music gave the place a great energy and the food came out quick and was absolutely amazing. Would recommend to everyone and will definitely be back.
Vibrant busy little gem. Staff are great, food spectacular. Risottos and pastas are delicious
I’ve been going here over last few months and have never been disappointed until now , the food wasn’t up to there usual standard and the service was lacklustre, the mood slightly depressesd , admittedly it was Wednesday so I will still try another time , the risotto and the smoked prawns saved the night
Laura, we love you and you will be missed !!!
Seriously fabulous food. The chef (ex. 121 BC) is really creative and all the dishes were extremely delicious. The menu changes regularly. Take the waitstaff's recommendations, they definitely know which are the stand out dishes. It's a lovely ambience, perfect for our date night. Good wine list and really lovely service. This was my second visit and certainly wont be our last!
Our waitress was really helpful and when we ordered a second bottle of wine she was able to find the last bottle and gave us a discount as well!
The food here has an edge, familiar but quite different flavours - very enjoyable service as well. PB
Beautiful ambiance and service. Perfect for a drink, the food offering was very on trend, although hit and miss.
our waiters were exceptional the food was outstanding who knew sardines could be so impressive
and that beef could melt in your mouth will be back !
I love this place, food is absolutely amazing, authentic using quality ingredients.
Staff always friendly... great tunes as well!
