King & Rye is the reflection of Executive Chef Peter McCall’s four-generation culinary heritage and the bounty of the mid-Atlantic and Southern regions. We feature seasonal, intentional ingredients sourced through real relationships with farmers, makers and butchers. With humble, refined menus rooted in tradition and authentic flavors that go beyond the expected to offer a deeper exploration of Southern cuisine, we're a place where you can expect slow food, proper whiskeys and genuine hospitality.

Our menus are personal -- expect to find dishes featuring produce hand-selected from the Old Town Farmer's Market, and even Chef's great-grandmother's cornbread recipe. We also feature a hand-selected, carefully curated whiskey and bourbon list with notable selections intended to expand horizons. Chosen by General Manager and Executive Bourbon Steward Allison Strunk, our list includes a rotating selection of creative finds.

We can't wait to serve you soon!

Truly ah-mazing and delicious food! It has been only a day since my friend and I visited and we CANNOT stop raving about King & Rye.

We had reservations for a [late] Sunday brunch (145pm) unaware that the restaurant closes at 2pm. The staff advised that the kitchen was closing very soon so we quickly placed our orders and our food came out *snaps finger* like that! The kitchen staff did their thang! My friend ordered the Creamed Chicken & Biscuits with a side of their thick cut, down south maple glazed bacon (no grocery store strips here, this is REAL SOUTHERN BACON YALL!). For myself, I opted for the Virginia Breakfast with sausage (per recommendation from the host) and a side of Buttermilk Pancakes.

EVERYTHING. WAS. DELICIOUS.... from the homemade Grandma-made-with-love biscuits and jam, the country sausage, the pancakes with brown butter peaches and vanilla cream (no syrup needed!), the crisp red potatoes, even down to the water.... Literally everything was soo good!

As we did arrive a little later in the day, there was only about 4-5 tables that were occupied and it was nice to be able to dine out without a lot of people around. In addition, tables were adequately spaced apart.

On a sad note, I was a little bummed they were sold out of their Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll and Deviled Eggs but not to worry friends, I’ll be back - for brunch (again!) and their supper. Thank you King & Rye for an unforgettable Sunday brunch.

It was pretty good! The cinnamon bun was the best but other than that it was good. Nothing I’d really crave ever. I had the egg white omelette, friend had shrimp and grits, other friend had eggs Benedict and my wife had the pancakes, eggs and bacon. Service was good.

We all said the same thing. Besides the exceptional cinnamon bun, if there was nothing open and this was here, we’d be back but nothing we would need to seek out again.

It's really nice to see how this restaurant has been revamped from its previous title. It brings great honor to the community to have the name changed to something more befitting it's great location, and the new menu consists of a nice assortment of southern inspired dishes. We went for brunch and really enjoyed everything we ate, but the highlight would have to be the biscuits with the homemade jam.

My only request would be to have better brunch drink specials. The cocktails were great, especially the coffee one but it would be cool if there was some sort of incentive to try more than one. The mimosa was very reasonably priced and tasted great.

Best part of meal was bacon and tater tots. The others entree were sub par for the cost they charge.

Being this was our 1st trip back to Alexandria since the Pandemic started, and since our hotel restaurant was opening up for the first time in forever, we elected to have breakfast both mornings here. There is plenty of seating inside but we are not yet ready for that...we opted for outdoor seating. They have 2 sections, one in the front of the hotel and one in the back garden area. We chose the front and although it is rather tight and narrow, they spaced the tables up pretty well.

The menu for breakfast is really “brunch” so you can’t possibly have Brunch without either a Mimosa or Peach Bellini or a Bloody Mary so make sure to order up one! The menu is somewhat limited but there are plenty of options to choose from to make you feeling happy and full. I hope however that they will include Oatmeal on their brunch menu sooner than later...I also understand the Cast Iron Cinnamon Roll is very popular!

We were greeted by a warm and welcoming host. Sat outside at a secluded table (perfect during Covid), and savored the most delicious meal we have had in a long time. The squash blossoms and deviled eggs had just the right amount of creativity and our burgers with homemade tater tots (we’ll be craving these now!) were amazing. And the bacon topped chocolate peanut butter bar sent us to heaven! Our bartender, Gretchen, was outgoing and friendly with excellent cocktail suggestions. She knows her whiskey menu well! We will make this a regular dining spot when we are in town!

Our waitress, Gretchen, was lovely and recommended our dishes. Food was lovely and altho quite expensive, the service made up for it.
