Historically, I have always loved the food at the Taproom - Always flavorful and good quality. However, not sure what changed, but this was a drastically different experience. My favorite meal was the apple/chèvre and bacon salad. I was disappointed that they no longer had this on the menu, as I had always left my plate clean after that meal! This time, I did the Gorgonzola salad with chicken. All of the toppings that this came with (including the chicken I added) were extremely scarce and sparse. For a salad that is named after the cheese and dressing that it accompanies, you would think there would be plenty of it. But instead, it was just a few Gorgonzola crumbles off to the side. It lacked flavor, color, and presentation. I still ate it, because I was hungry, but left very unsatisfied. This isn’t even a salad I would make at home for myself. Unfortunately I now lack any motivation to go back. The group I was with also ordered different types of salads with salmon, and while their types of salads were different, it was unanimously agreed that it was very underwhelming; lack of flavor, underdressed, and the “toppings“ that they came with were very little. This was also the case with the nachos we ordered. It was more chips than anything else. With all of the toppings that were listed in the menu, you would think it would be plentiful, but it looked as if the kitchen just ran out of ingredients.
Our waitress was lovely, provided good service, good drinks, and beautiful view. However I am disappointed that they took the the very meal off the menu that I specifically came there for. I remember even speaking to our waitress about it, and she was just as bummed and perplexed as to why that was done.
My friends and I routinely get together once a month to go out to dinner, and we are super disappointed that this is not a place that we would come back to. Hopefully things change.
