Laurent at Café Royal
Laurent features an array of newly designed areas including booths and views of either elegant Regent Street or the grand hotel lobby with a spectacular Murano glass chandelier at the centre.
International influences are evident across the new menu where Laurent has combined his experiences to open a restaurant unlike anything he has done before. An open kitchen and grill offer the finest grilled meat and fish; whilst sushi masters prepare inventive sushi, sashimi and raw fish from the sushi bar.
The bar offers a wide selection of wines from both new and classic regions with a focus on the French 'regal regions', alongside cocktails and fine spirits.
On Wednesday 18th July, all reservations between 3pm - 6pm will be seated in the Gallery.
Very attentive service, very good food and excellent wine
Despite us having a early reservation and plenty of tables available they gave us the table in front of the kitchen door so we had constant movement around us. We booked for the January menu but it wasn’t presented to us, we had to ask for it, to which the answer was well did you book it? Yes if you looked properly you would see we did. It was begrudgingly given to us. A lot of fuss about nothing but didn’t create a good vibe for the evening. The starter and steak main were fine but nothing special. We had sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was disappointing. It was covered with banana slices not mentioned on the menu which didn’t really compliment the pudding and served with a brandy sauce, again not a normal accompaniment and made it taste like Christmas pudding which is the last thing you want in January.
It was nice but there were some flys that kept interrupting our meal which wasnt pleasant. the sushi and starters was amazing but dessert took over 40mins to come after an issue with the tickets and was very heavy/dense flavours.
The service was impeccable, the food amazing and the little touches of brilliance make Laurent one of my favourite London restaurants. Would highly recommend!
Met up with friends at Lauren. Perfect! Excellent food (The onglet steak was the highlight.) Attentive staff and great service. Minor niggle that the seats were a bit low for taller diners.
Incredible food. Highly recommend
I really enjoyed the excellent service and friendly staff .
The food and ambiance was outstanding !
Definitely will highly recommend to my friends as a must go for a wonderful and memorable day out!
High quality food matched with service and setting to match
Food was excellent for the price paid (we were on a 3 course plus champagne for £39 deal). Sides were extra and of course service on top of the whole bill, but we weee happy to pay that. Couldn’t really fault the food or service, but I found the restaurant a tad odd in layout as it is around a central open space in which you can see all the way to the ground floor, so at times felt uncosy and like we were in a corridor. That said, the hotel is beautifully ornate and we had a good table.
Lovely service from the door to our waitress. The ambiance was lovely in the main area, we were sitting with the bar behind us. Had the 3 course set menu with champagne which I thought was very good value for what we got. The nonconventional bread offering was yummy, and the complimentary petit fours were also amazing! We were so full by the end!
We each had a supreme time on New Year Day. Exceeded all expectations. Our new favourite place
One definitely not to be missed 🙂
My partner and I spent New Year afternoon here. It has a beautiful setting amazing food and excellent service. I’ll definitely be back.
At arrival there was a couple ahead of me and they had been standing waiting for a while unattended.. I went past them to go find someone inside to seat them and then me. Apart from my guests who were already at the table, there was only 2 other tables... so not sure why so slow. My guests had also asked to move tables due to being right under a spotlight. Was not offered the set lunch menu I booked the table for. (did get a glass of champagne tho) Complimentary bread was delicious. All 3 fish starters were nice. We all had burgers (medium) The burgers were overcooked and tasteless. As far as burgers go, probably the most bland I've ever had. Really disappointing as it's hard to do a bad burger, and especially at this price point. Won't go back.
Really good value for the set menu. £39 for 3 courses, champagne and bread and chocolate.
great dinner, friendly staff, nice location. Would recommend
Total impressed. Food was outstanding, service was impeccable without being over the top.
Excellent food and service. The steak is outstanding and the chocolate and peanut butter pudding is amazing .
Lovely birthday celebration meal with 4 friends. Food was excellent and the restaurant/ambience was great for a special occasion. However drinks both at the restaurant and later at the bar quite expensive in comparison to other similar establishments in the area. However we had a great time and had a wonderful view of Regent’s Street Christmas lights and Piccadilly Circus.
Lovely restaurant with attentive staff. Would highly reccommend
Excellent suhshi and sashimi, ask chef for specials.
Friendly and competent staff!
Family get together
I have reserved a3 course set menu that included a glass of veuve cliquet champagne. Instead when I arrived they presented me with the full menu. Then I asked for the set menu which was brought. Then I asked if we could have the glass of champagne that was included, and instead of the vc another champagne was served. All a bit prompted. Food was delicious and well presented.
fantastic place! Had a lovely dinner on Christmas Eve, lovely atmosphere and great food!
The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful and a great atmosphere so overall a very enjoyable experience.
Had a great evening, excellent food, staff were fantastic.
The steak and chips were both incredible. I was surprised at how good the food was. Definitely going back. It’s a beautiful quiet oasis in the middle of busy London.
Very good food and beautiful place to go out with an excellent service
We have some friends visiting from over, was looking for a great restaurant that wasn’t too noisy in the west end, so glad we came here. We love everything about this restaurant, great location, beautiful and elegant room without being stuffy. So perfect for our Christmas dinner. The staffs were all defect from the hostess to our waiter. Food was just so delicious, we love everything we had ordered. Honestly, couldn’t be happier that we discovered this gem in the Westend, will definitely come back for another special occasion.
Cost of wine was expensive, a cup of coffee was £6.00 and mint tea was also £6.00. With service charge and an unsolicited donation to charity meant that this was not good value for money.
The other thing that annoys customers is that they select a set menu on booking, but are not given it when they sit down, which means they have to ask, which is embarrassing. They also called it the ‘festive menu’ but there was nothing festive about it.
Superb from start to finish. Excellent service and attention to detail. Our waiter had a terrific sense of humour and was always very responsive and helpful. Superb food and wine. The Popovers are incredible. Beautiful sushi and melt in the mouth steak. Overall we had a six hour lunch and the staff looked after us so well throughout the entire afternoon. We had a nice table too in the main part of the restaurant where the bar is, the open mezzanine didn't look as nice, and felt a bit stark. Would highly recommend Laurent for a special occasion.
Excellent food and service in the heart of London. We will definitely go back!
Had a wonderful experience at Laurent at café Royal. Will definitely be going back, food was excellent and service by Faris was outstanding, and a really great team in general!!!
une très belle et bonne expérience culinaire dans un restaurant au cadre et au service impeccable . un bel endroit
Everything was lovely they did these wonderful cheese Yorkshire puds instead of bread which were wonderful I had them in New York and they called them popovers. Food great service great
Had arranged for a bday celebration for my daughter and her friend. Very nice welcome by the manager and all surprise arrangement made. We ordered all the house specialities but was disappointed with the portion of the sushi as they were small for the price we paid.
The steak and short ribs were amazing.
Very long lunch with three friends. good food , excellent wine list and not rushed at all. strange set up (all diners are on a mezzanine) but quiet enough to chat. excellent service.
I was really excited about going to Laurent. It was our fifth wedding anniversary and I wanted to surprise my wife with a great lunch before going to the jewellers. Laurent had all the potential but was just not on the ball. Service was haphazard from the start. The maître d' had to go and scour the restaurant to get someone to take us to the table leaving us standing around for five minutes at the front desk. Wouldn't have been an issue if they were busy but there was only a handful of tables occupied. Frustratingly there seemed to be plenty of staff standing around in the restaurant but obviously that wasn't their job.
Our waitress was pleasant but disappeared half way through the meal leaving us having to hail whoever was walking by. The bread arrived half way through the starters with an apology that it was supposed to have been served at the start. It took ten minutes to get the wine waiter to take our order and then the wine finally arrived halfway through our main course though I could see it sitting on the bar for 5 minutes. After the first glass we were left to pour the wine ourselves. Not really a problem but not a sign of great service.
The starters were delicious. The octopus tender and the beets sweet and subtle. We both had burgers which was a mistake. I got the usual fob off of London restaurants that they won't cook it medium rare (Byron still does so I don't understand why a great restaurant can't be as confident in their health and safety as a chain is). The burgers were really dry and so pretty devoid of flavour apart from the Montgomery cheddar which took over. The fries were similarly uninspiring and tasted more of the oil they were cooked in than anything else.
I did complain about the food and the waiter was generous enough to recognise it wasn't up to scratch and to give us a discount; but I'd have preferred to have had the amazing meal I'd pinned my hopes on.
Sushi was amazing. The Wagyu steak was so tender it melted in your mouth. Overall was a lovely experience.
we were greeted by 2 lovely ladies, who confirmed our booking, they took our coats and took us to our table. bar and the room looking beautiful . we ordered our drinks. but I think the staff were under the impression we were eating, which I had only booked it for a drink. but that was ok, we truly enjoyed this beautiful bar I will recommend it to my friends thank you
