Lovely meal as usual, unfortunately the restaurant was nearly empty due to the virus scare.
Anyway we had a lovely evening and will certainly be going back,
Absolute gem of a place, aesthetics, ambience, food, wine list, service. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. I was looking for somewhere romantic and I was not disappointed by any means. The only thing I would say is that there wasn’t much time between finishing starters and the main was out in no time at all. So if you wanted to enjoy a glass of wine between courses. I would suggest ordering courses as you go along just to eliminate the danger of feeling slightly rushed. And with a lovely place like this you’ll want to soak up the atmosphere and surroundings.
10/10. Can’t wait to go again.
Excellent restaurant. Please sort out the toilets
Romantic, cosy, nice. Basically a good surprise to discover.
Perfect ‘local’ restaurant- very authentic French restaurant. Amazing snails, great wine list, super service, fair prices. V recommended.
As always, this is a delightful place to eat and socialise. Excellent unobtrusive service. lovely atmosphere.
we had very pleasant evening. Had dinner there many times. Food always good, pleasant service.
Nice cosy atmosphere.
Good balanced choice on menu
Excellent menu choices. Food delicious and excellent service.
Incredible food and wonderful experience all around. We love this place and visit everytime we come to London!
really good food as always and beautifully presented. There is a wide choice plus the daily specials. The restaurant has been there for around 40 years so they must be doing something right!
Delicious perfectly cooked and beautifully served
This is the second year we have come here as a small family pre-Christmas meal. The restaurant is lovely - cosy, white-tableclothed and tastefully decorated. The food is also really delicious and the we didn't have to wait long at all for service - my sister has an especially restricted diet but the staff were able to offer her an alternative and the chefs whipped something up that she found delicious. We ordered some of the house wine and it was quite ok. The bill was high for what we received, in my view, as the portions were more than modest but less than generous but as long as you are prepared for that, it is a good evening out in a relaxing atmosphere with good tasty food.
It’s a wonderful little neighborhood French restaurant. The food and service were simply amazing.
Fantastic food and service!
We had a really lovely cosy evening with really excellent food
The hostess was very gracious.
The food however was disappointing in that though well cooked and amiably presented, the finesse and portions cannot justify the price. Bread portions were rationed and wines were priced astronomically. The foi gras starter was more show than wow. A good competitive is another neighbourhood French diner Oslow Court and certainly this place didn’t have the edge of the former. I would not be hurrying back as it offers little value for money and there are plenty of similar places which can offer better fare at a similar or lower cost. The toilets need a proper makeover - they are literally cold closets in a basement and the overall feel of the place is distant and disjointed. Sorry guys but you did ask for honest feedback. Hope you can learn from this and perhaps improve. Else we part as friends. Thank you
Really lovely local restaurant. Food was excellent
Birthday party with family visiting from France
Worth a visit once if you haven't tried before but poor ambience, good french food but value for money rating will be 3*.
I have been to L’Aventure on several occasions and lunch last Friday was the usual high standard.
I just wonder why the resturant is not continually booked out as it should be with what it delivers.
A real little gem.
Took friends for dinner great success would have liked to see more people there on a Thursday evening but couldn’t fault the restaurant
I always think the acid test of a restaurant is whether you would go back. I would certainly do so in this case - in fact I plan to. I thought my rack of lamb with dauphinois potatoes was excellent - perfectly cooked meat, well balanced sauce. I liked the decor and tables not too close together. Attentive service. Overall very enjoyable experience.
Fabulous meal for our anniversary. Cooked to perfection! We had the mushroom croustillant and artichoke heart for starters, which were very flavoursome.
The wine recommendations was spot on and we were treated to a lovely Cotes du Rhône.
For the main course, it was the rob of veal which was wonderful. The meat was very tender and perfectly complimented with a rich jus and roasted vegetables.
Desert was a delight it’s a homemade tarte fine au pommels and créme brûlée
Madame was as ever the gracious hostess. Definitely a place to go if you’re looking for a cosy and special place for dinner.
Our second visit this year and just as enjoyable. Great food and characterful staff.
We had a superb lunch in a most comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The staff were most attentive and the quality and presentation of the food was excellent.
Excellent food, beautifully charming French surroundings, welcoming and personal service. A real neighbourhood gem.
Sadly we received a text message from the restaurant manager cancelling our reservation 97 minutes (!!) before we were due to arrive saying the restaurant was closed because of having to catering ‘outside’. It was impossible to contact the restaurant directly to confirm if this was so.
I would be careful when booking. And would, again sadly confirm with the restaurant directly. I can provide the text of the restaurant’s message if requested.
The head waitress/owner Christine is rude, obnoxious and condescending. Her manner is disgusting and she made rude comments, that we heard when she walked away from our table.
The restaurant smelt and looked like an old people’s home.
The food was less than average. Our side dishes came out just as we were finishing our main courses.
We will NEVER be returning.
She ruined what was a real special evening celebrating a ruby wedding.
A long established and beautiful little cosy restaurant. Fixed price 2 or 3 courses makes it a delight to choose, particularly if someone else is paying the bill. Nearly as important as the wonderful food, you can actually have a conversation with your dinner companions!
A delightful restaurant to spend the evening and a charming hostess in charge
Never disappointed. Very good french food, always feel welcome. perfect for couple dining!
As always amazing food and hospitality
Wonderful french food; lovely atmosphere with wafts of the jasmine from outside in the summer; charming patronne; good service; my favourite London restaurant
We have had a Sunday lunch and were surprised that the restaurant was not busy. Transpired that they only started being open on Sundays. So we were very lucky. We were offered a table by the French doors to the terrace so we could bring our Frenchie with us. The food was delicious as always and thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Thank you very much L’Aventura
We arrived just before 8pm. I approached Catherine the owner and said I had a reservation. She was extremely dismissive and rude and just said I have no tables. I showed her my email confirming the reservation and she no no I told open table I was full in the morning.
She just walked away not even an apology. I asked her what she suggests I do at 8pm on a Saturday she just walked away. Coincidentally my parents were also dining there with friends and have been regulars for many years, Catherine was aware of this but still made no effort to even apologise.
I will never go again to her restaurant with her attitude she doesn’t deserve to be in business.
As ever a lovely feel and atmosphere. We booked late on the off chance of a table but were made to feel very welcome. Service a but stretched as busy with lively customers, but all smiles in the end so happy too return and recommend to others. Thanks
Good time and nice food
Little but rich but good menu
We loved the ambience and the quality and standard of food was superb. We also loved the personable approach of the staff, clearly a family run business, we had a really nice time ! Would recommend this to friends :)
I had previously phoned and spoken to the owner regarding my eating difficulties, and she agreed to order me a lemon sole and when I arrived and reminded her, she said she had forgotten. She proceeded to take our order and told us to hurry up and choose as she had other customers waiting. She described one dish as being smoked salmon crepes and when this dish was served it was in fact NOT SMOKED salmon but poached salmon, which I had to send back as I do not like poached salmon and would never have ordered it if it was described in the correct way. My friend ordered a coke which was ‘flat’, that had to go back, each time the ‘patron’ was extremely rude and discourteous . Now to the main course: I have to say I did enjoy the fish that was available although it was not what I had ordered, however my friend ordered baby lamb chops and found them very tough, at this point we were all fed up with the service and the attitude in the restaurant, when the plates were collected one of our party drew the waitress’s attention to the lamb that was left on the plate, the Patron came back with a message that the chef said it was very nice! We all four of us would never recommend L’Aventure to anyone, and would seriously suggest that the owner needs to get a grip on how to treat her customers and learn some good manners.
The food was great, but the manager who also waits on customers was INCREDIBLY RUDE and unapologetic when spoken to about her manner.
Won’t be dining there again - in a place where all customers aren’t given their due respect.
