Le Colonial is a celebration of the seductive spirit and vivid flavors reminiscent of Saigon in the 1920s, located in the heart of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities.
A lavish downstairs dining room is adorned with period photography, overhead fans and leather banquettes, and flanked by a Parisian-Style sidewalk café. A dramatic staircase leads to a second level lounge, where a large bar, mahogany millwork and plush seating create the perfect atmosphere for cocktails and light fare.

My party was not properly escorted to my table and had to wait outside in the steamy sun for good 10 mins. Then the food came out soooo late that we had to rush, eat, and leave. Le Colonial is one of my favorite place in town and I didnt hesitate to go whenever we have a special occasion, but yesterday was a huge disaapointment in many ways.

We had a reservation for 10:15 pm, arrived everything seemed nice beautiful ambiance manager great, unfortunately server was very VERY rude, she came up to our table in a very fast rough rushing manner, my boyfriend and I wanted to order wine a bottle we asked what was a good selection what she would recommend, I Believe she was Asian and had a very rough loud accent she either pretended she didn’t hear us or understood English she acted confused and made us feel very awkward uncomfortable screamed At a point & walked away while we where talking to her and never came back to our table, 20 minutes passed she came back brought the wine and Literally poured it in a bevy rude and unkind manner like if she was very bothered to serve us. We proceed to order our food we asked if there was any way for it not to be spicy as it stated in the menu, we ordered the same dish we always do when we come here, this time se said she was not going to change anything and if it was spicy it would stay spicy we were very confused for her rudeness and asked if she could let the chef know this is our favorite dish we always come for and to make it as always. She walked away again and never back. Manager comes and proceeded to serve us she was very kind and apologetic manger continued to serve us. Unfortunately our experience was very bad food came and was very VERY spicy we did not eat it we returned it, will not be coming back again food was definitely not what we expected I did not have dinner lost my appetite, my boyfriend had something he wasn’t very exited about because he was hungry and barely liked.

Met a friend for a birthday lunch, we’ve always loved this restaurant. Overall it was a good experience and the food was delicious as it always has been. The only reason I gave it four stars on a couple of items was because I Was missing a fork, had to ask for the fork, and then when they served our food which we were sharing, they did not bring us plates so we had to wait until someone came by to ask them to bring us plates. Also I think they should include a spoon when they serve a sauce. I was tired of asking for utensils so I just poured the sauce over the spring rolls but a spoon would’ve been nice. I would still go back and I would still recommend this restaurant because the food is so good and I’ve always loved it but was a little disappointed with those small issues.

Had a great father's day dinner at Le Colonial. Drinks, food and service were great. The Lychee Martini hit the spot and the crispy spring rolls were delicious. Very good restaurant to have a celebration or a special occasion.

The overall service was pretty poor. The server and sommelier acted like we weren’t that important and barely gave us attention. The sommelier acted like we didn’t know anything when asking about recommendations for dessert wines and did not give any. On top of that, the whole paper on the tables is really lazy and cheap. For the price point, we will be going somewhere else.

I booked a reservation a month in advance for my husband’s birthday. Despite the early booking and available tables downstairs, they tried to seat us upstairs in the bar room and the tables are very low. My husband is 6’3 so there was no way we could properly eat a meal so we asked to be reseated and moved back downstairs. Our waiter was terrible. They knew it was my husband’s birthday and the waiter never acknowledged it. I ordered a beer and the glass wasn’t even cold. We ordered appetizers and the waiter wanted our main course menu at that time so we gave it to him even tho we preferred to get our appetizer before ordering our main course. . Additionally, the waiter never asked if we wanted a second drink and we felt like they wanted us to leave. Not sure why we were given such a cool reception given that we were dressed nicely and are well educated professionals ( a lawyer and a petroleum engineer). My husband enjoyed his meal but I did not. I am a vegetarian and I had the only option on the menu and it was terrible. Although we live nearby in Afton Oaks, we will not frequent this restaurant again.

The food and service are excellent. When I made the reservation, I asked for a second floor table since we were celebrating a bday. When we got to the hostess stand, she mentioned going upstairs but then proceeded to a table downstairs. I asked her about it and she said nothing was available upstairs. We were seated at a tiny table between two larger tables. The table next to us was 2-3 feet away and very loud. Besides the cramped table and the noise, everything was excellent.

The restaurant is lovely. The service was okay. We were celebrating a special occasion and I was asked about it - but it was not further acknowledged. Disappointing. The duck was okay - somewhat chewy. Other small plates and entrées were yummy.

Our waiter was a sweetheart but never came back to refill our drinks or ask us if we needing anything after ordering. I had to flag him down several times for refills or any additional thing I needed, including the check. We went in between lunch and dinner so it wasn't busy. Other than that food was amazing per usual!

Lunch for three outdoors at ground level. It was quiet, breezy, very pleasant. (Sit wall-side, as the sun travels the sidewalk-side tables end up with no shade). Delicious food. Unfortunately, the waiter was not having a good day.

All in all, this restaurant is exceptionally good. Excellent food in a great setting. My pet peeve is the booking and seating process. Calling into the restaurant is a painful process as there is only one person manning the phone who puts one on hold while she seats guests. Then there is the 50% of guests in the house requirement before the table is seated. We were a party of 7 and 3 of us were on the premises yet we had to wait. We did not have a person to donate. The rest of the party were minutes away. I understand some of the reasoning behind this requirement but is very off putting, in my opinion!

The food was delicious. It’s a gorgeous restaurant but our server was beyond unpleasant. All night had a attitude that escalated to a confrontation. My husband and I couldn’t understand how a restaurant of this category could hire a server so impolite. Very disappointed

Our waiter named Alex was superb! The food was outstanding - service was impeccable!! It was our 3rd time to visit!!!
