Very disappointing experience. Lovely setting. Just OK specialty drinks. First courses both too much vinegar, not balanced or flavorful, couldn't taste scallop or skate. Basket of bread not refreshed. No gluten-free bread. Entrees both with extra charges, duck not crisp, sauce too cloying sweet, steak slices OK but large portion of greasy French bistro snails in garlic butter on the same plate over-powered the meat. Bibb lettuce worthless, just filled up 1/3rd of the plate. Extra charge for side order of French fries arrived after most of the entrees were finished. We are experienced diners in NYC and European cities. This meal was not at an acceptable level for the cost.

Very precise cuisine rooted in French classical technique. Beautiful high-ceilinged dining room with exposed brick, wood floors, and open kitchen. The decadent cuisine was beautifully complemented by the pageantry of the tableside finishes for many of the dishes.

Highlights: food, the dining room, the wine list Opportunities: impersonal and rushed service. The wine advice was off.

Went there after a matinee on Wednesday. Got there early before my reservation and we were seated right away. We sat by the open kitchen (very interesting). Food was amazing - everything that we ordered was delicious!! Needed some help from the sommelier to pick a reasonably priced wine (Bordeaux) - the wine list is huge and in my opinion loaded with too many expensive wines (only a handful under $200) and I guess if I had to pick a negative about the restaurant it would be the wine list being way too expensive for the normal dinner goer. But in any event the sommelier was very knowledgeable and very nice (didn't make you feel inferior when trying to get a wine for about $150). The service was great - very attentive. Our head waiter knew everything about the menu and was very easy to talk to and very helpful. All of the staff was great. Dessert was delicious too. they served French Press coffee which my wife and I both love. A very enjoyable dinner and experience at Le Coucou!!!

While the service was exceptional, the food is certainly the main attraction.Everyone in our party agreed that it was one of the most spectacular dining experiences we’ve ever had.

Of course, the interiors, ambience, service was amazing.
I was only disappointed that the menu hasn’t changed much in 2 years. Might be nice to have more choices.

There's a reason Le Coucou rates a Michelin star... the ambiance and lunch menu are outstanding. My wife and I try to go to Le Coucou every year on her birthday. The reader of this review should make a reservation if you have not already experienced this charming restaurant.

Le Coucou is a special restaurant especially for a special occasion. The food is delicious and the service formal in the best sense of the word. (I don't understand why some reviewers fault the staff.) I also appreciate the fact that the menu is limited in choices and is a la carte. As always, we look forward to returning again.

Traditional French dining in a modern, fresh and welcoming space. We spent two glorious hours here for a relaxed and delightful Sunday brunch. The service is absolutely top notch—but not stuffy or formal in any way. Guillermo went out of his way to help us with all of our questions and everything was perfect. Listen to the staff recommendations for food combinations. They really know their stuff. Killer wine list. Just can’t give it enough praise. We’ll be back soon!

Amazing Food!!!!! This was our second time, and the food is still amazing. We had Quenelle de Brochet “Route de Reims” , Chou Farci aux Fruits de Mer, La pêche locale « souvenir de Marseille » (BEST bouillabaisse we've ever had), Agneau de Colorado en Deux Services (BEST lamb we've ever had). Omelette Norvégienne was fun and tasty.

Great Service! (Thanks, Ethan.)

Beautiful space and wonderful service. Oyster and scallop appetizers were great. Wine pairing was well thought out and executed. Mains were fine. Poached halibut uninspiring.... local fish was basically deconstructed fish soup with overused miso. Sorry to be harsh, but with the pomp and the prices, I expect more. Wanted to be obsessed.

Lucky for me the Quenelles were on the menu - this time last year they weren’t due to the deep freeze affecting Europe and the US. Wine list is amazing at all points. Service is attentive and while I can see why some reviewers think the staff can appear cold we’ve had great and warm service when we’ve been there. I think le Coucou has gotten better now that it’s entering its third year.

I was with a friend that had been to all other Daniel Rose restaurants and came in from California to go to this one - this is my second visit and I only went again to make her happy. I had the pidgeon and it was overly sauced giving the plate an overall muddy look - the leek starter was better than the main course. The wine prices are ridiculously high and the service was far different than when I was first at the restaurant - not nearly as good. We had to ask for black napkins - they should have been offered when we sat down. I had the apple dessert that featured apples caramelized to bitterness with a tasteless piece of puff pastry. This is the last time for me - I find Le Cou Cou to overpriced and not worth my hard earned money.

I went to celebrate my 33rd birthday and everything was going great until there was a mixed up with our food order and the waitress brought my boyfriend an extra Halibut dish, so we told her politely that it was only one order. She took one order back to the kitchen visibly upset, then came back and literally tossed a place on the table without even looking at us and left. My boyfriend wanted to leave the restaurant, but it was my birthday, I didn’t want to ruin it because of that. Otherwise everything is great in that restaurant. But that specific situation ruined it.

I liked the duckling we ordered in particular but everything we ordered tasted amazing. I like the romantic setting and industrial design.
It's not a restaurant I would go to regularly or with small children but perfect for date nights and special occations.

I have been to Le CouCou several times and never been disappointed. The food is elegant and inventive. Service is attentive if sometimes a little distracted during busy times. Servers are very careful to check on any allergens one might be worried about. The atmosphere is "shabby downtown chic" without being tacky. And it is quiet so you can hear what your dinner companions have to say without their shouting. I will continue to go back and take friends.

Went for a birthday lunch, it’s a pre fixed 2 course menu not including dessert. Out of everything we had I would recommend the Quenelle de Brochet and the Babette a la Bourguignonne. For dessert we had the chocolate noir which was very rich but fantastic if you really like chocolate. It is a beautiful restaurant with great service so I would recommend for a special occasion (since it’s very pricey).
