What Insiders Are Saying
Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Park Roman Italian restaurant is better than we initially thought, especially for a date or an upscale brunch.
What a wonderful place to enjoy dinner with friends! Food was great as always. Service was excellent. Just an amazing group of people.
I’ve been coming here for years and I love it it’s great food great everything. Was here for brunch but the Torta i always get and always perfect wasn’t as perfect. Normally it’s a little pink but not the case this time, over cooked and bland.
Loved this place!
And I love that hospitality is included.
Great brunch and will recommend!
Amazing service, very good food, love this place, great for a date or a celebration
Well worth visit to Maialino!! Delicious authentic Roman cuisine. Punterella and trippa spot on!!! Pasta delicious, and the PORK, SOO GREAT!!!
The manager’s were amazing. I believe that their names were Casey and Lauren.
Great service and food!
Shannon was an excellent wait person. Very good/personable!
Food is very good.
As always, the food and service were top notch. Our appetizers of lamb meatballs, chicken liver pate, and octopus were fantastic. Entrees of oxtails and char were delicious. The only off note was the pasta with lobster special which was, we thought, over sauced with a tiny amount of lobster and at $42 a regrettably small portion.
Hostesses were very accommodating providing a table that was shielded from the loud (energetic) buzz due to my hearing problem.
This is our “umpteen” visit and it is always a wonderful dining/social experience.
Pro: seated at time of reservation; put candle in dessert for birthday and wrote Happy Birthday on plate; fantastic rigatoni dish enjoyed by one of my companions; fresh bread was nice with crunchy crust
Cons: bartenders overwhelmed (or undertrained?--slow and unfriendly); Pollo alla Diavolo was a boring, huge hunk of uninteresting chicken; never brought the brussels sprouts that sounded like they could redeem the chicken (graciously agreed to remove them from the bill though); server seemed indifferent to the bread crumbs and never removed them. Could this be a result of the gratuity inclusive policy?? Special note: the sommelier seemed as if he could not be bothered. I had high expectations for a Danny Meyer establishment so I was just more disappointed than if I had dined at another restaurant for the birthday celebrations of my two companions.
Never disappoints. Cheers to all who make this place special.
The service was horrible.
Great meal. Upscale italian comfort food that doesn't try to be too fancy. I like that the recipes stay true to their actual italian roots.
Waited 20 minutes past our reservation time. No one ever checked in at our table once our food was served.
We waited for a table around an hour at the bar, and the general manager realized and sent some grilled vegetables as appetizers...I think he could have done more...but definitely the food, place and wine is worth it.
Our server was phenomenal! The food at this restaurant is great!
tucked into a nice booth, but there are no bad seats! Our server was knowledgeable and when she was less familiar with the wine, she asked the sommelier to help out. Never rushed and food came out properly timed. Just perfect with our dear friends for celebrating a birthday!
Amazing as usual! The food is outstanding.
Brunch was just ok- was expecting amazing and it was just alright- disappointed- don’t plan to revisit
The food and ambiance were great, but the service was really outstanding. Pacing of the meal was perfect, we never felt rushed and had a wonderful dining experience.
We had a reservation for four people at 12 PM, we started with four of the best mimosas in town. Then we order a pastry basket sampler followed by some prosciutto with some fresh mozzarella, but what we liked the most was the potatoes. Our meal was exceptional and none of my friends had anything bad to say about Maialino and the service. We will be definitely coming back soon.
We live in Chicago and visit NYC once or twice a year. We’ve been coming to this restaurant as long as it has been open, usually for brunch on Saturday before catching a Broadway show. Great food in a stunningly beautiful setting served by smart, engaging staff.
Anything you can ask for in a Danny Meyer restaurant is available here. It's not the cheapest spot, but like other Meyer establishments, it's very high quality. The service is excellent without being obtrusive, the food is excellent, ambiance is great and it's an ideal place to go if you want quiet conversation in highly pleasant surroundings.
Food as in past visit was excellent but the service was very slow.We had to wait over 15minutes between appetizer and main course Thankfully a hostes came by and noticed that our food had not arrived and look into it. I can aonly think it was because it was very busy but again the food was superb.
Best ricotta pancakes!
Best suckling pig I’ve had and an excellent wine selection
Great experience! Wait staff very helpful and patient with helping us choose our wine. The food was excellent. I also like the idea of it being a non-tipping restaurant. There was no loss in service at all.
The best breakfast/brunch in NYC, by far. And such a pleasure to have a no tipping policy!
Very special! One of the best Italians in NY.
Wow! We were in for a Conference and could not have been happier to have found this restaurant. Highly recommended.
Food was good but not great
Overall a good meal/experience and had high expectations given the restaurateur. The food was good, not great and it took some effort to find something I wanted on the lunch menu. The service was fine, but disappointing given it was only fine. I'm not convinced the gratuity included model is best for the customer.
I have been going to all of the DM restaurants and this honestly was my least favorite so far.
My friend and I enjoyed the prix fixe option for lunch. I had the bucatini all’amatriciana (scrumptious) and my friend greatly enjoyed the Arctic char. We started with the cheese plate which was a terrific selection of very good cheeses but what we truly loved in that course was the orange marmalade that came with it. If it was for sale, we would have come home with a jar each. Do it. Package it up and sell it at the restaurant or at Daily Provisions. One more thing which maybe people don’t notice but I notice, especially with pasta — the portion size was perfect. I can’t tell you how many times I bring food home, which I prefer not to do or just leave it behind for the trash, which I hate. Our server was great. Warm, charming and very efficient. We’ll be back.
A favorite place for us to celebrate a birthday. The food is fabulous, the service outstanding. All requests honored. Prix-fixe is terrific with many selections. The prosciutto and mozzarella was large enough to share and absolutely delicious as was the bolognese. The tortelli with added white truffle was exquisite. All the cookies are a treat--especially the hot chocolate ones for those with a sweet tooth. Never fail to have a memorable meal!
Amazing food and great service! Best tiramisu in town!!!
They include the tip which is probably why our server was so rude and short with us. I have dined there before but the server acted like she didn’t want us there
Went in for dinner on New Year's Day and was not disappointed! Highly recommend the pasta dishes here.
A classic..no bad surprises..energetic staff..excellent service..warm ambiance..keeping the same level of high quality for years..
