What Insiders Are Saying
Marea is about as good as upscale eating gets in Midtown, and there’s a lot of that around. Don’t miss the bone marrow and octopus fusilli.
Out experience at Marea was outstanding. Not only the food was marvelous but the attentions were incredible. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive to every one of our needs! One of the best dining experiences I have had recently.
A perfect restautrant experience from the atmosphere, fod and service. The best in New York.
AWSOME service and spectacular food
I went to Marea for lunch recently and it was truly excellent as it always is. Wonderful food, imaginative but not forced, beautifully prepared, with attentive and gracious service that is in no way “overly present”. Always wonderful for lunch or dinner.
Close to ten years since their opening, and still a wonderful setting to have a lovely dinner. Food is fabulous, service is impeccable and the overall experience is well worth it.
A more friendly service would fit well with the outstanding food!
My son, Max, had read rave reviews about the restaurant and wanted to try their signature dish, the fusilli with octopus and marrow. I accompanied him while in a father-son bonding trip. We both had the rich and great fusilli. I am glad I paid heed. Also happy to have paid more attention to him than he paid me when younger.
The service was impeccable and generous. I met many good people there. The Italian sommelier was precise and comforting.
The totality of the restaurant is exquisite. The finest woods accompany you, even to the stairs to the restrooms!
I recommend this experience. I will come back.
Great food and ambiance
Finest expression of a delicate show where protagonism lies on the plate, service is a army of well trained pawns delivering with enthusiasm and no overacting, audience captures the eye for their elegant and well mannered impressive look. Enjoyed every bit of it!
It was great..
A fantastic dinner! Can’t edit to return.
It disappoint me... Very small portions and nothing spectacular, plus is very overpriced. The service was very rude.
Great food, highly recommend the pasta and the squab appetizer. Unfortunately the service was pathetic, which is in line with the Michelin guide review. Had to wait 10 minutes before someone even came to our table, and the server forgot to bring our wine with the food. Pity because the food is spectacular...if only the service was befitting of a 2 Michelin star restaurant!
Amazing food and guest service - my new fav spot.
Outstanding as usual. Elegant, welcoming and upbeat in midtown.
Underwhelming, sorry to say. The signature dish fusilli was disappointing. I’ve had much better at a local neighborhood place. The turbot wasn’t much better. The scallops were excellent, but the white wine servings were meager. High marks for dessert, coffee and tea. But that not a very good reason to spend big, is it? The 2 Michelin stars are shocking.
Amazing! Great food. Great service.
The side table next to our table was covered in dust. Also our drinks took some time to arrive but the waiter was apologetic and gave us a dessert on the house so that made up for it. The food was good but small portions.
Never disappoints!!! Just a fabulous evening....everything about it!!
The halibut was wonderful. We are always impressed by our experiences here but this was one of the best.
Great service , great dinner
Great restaurant becoming our favorite Manhattan Restaurant
Marea always is a excellent choice! Everything is perfect!
Birthday dinner for my cousin. Chefs tasting menu. Amazing food and a great bottle of wine. Excellent evening with top notch service as always.
Some of their dishes were outstanding! Their pastas are great and the starters that we got were really good as well.
However, both of our Entrees (Scallops and Striped Bass) were very underwhelming. The Bass was overcooked so the texture was very fiber-y. The scallops were just OK, and the potatos on the side were plain out undercooked. I am 100% sure I can cook those entrees better myself.
Overall, very good! And, if we hadn't ordered those Entrees I would have thought it was a 5 star restaurant. But, for that high a price to get overcooked fish?
Attended a Sunday lunch and found the menu to be well portioned with choices
It’s a price fix menu and certainly reasonable for the experience
Service was a bit slow and not at the level of a five star restaurant, our server seemed new and not familiar with the menu
Everything was amazing! Only thing I would recommend is to get that small stand out of the main dining room. My husband sat next to it and I in the booth and we both agreed it was really annoying and ruined the mood because the staff was constantly going in and out of it. It’s just too close in proximity to where your sitting. Other than that the food and service was top notch!
a great deal of their business lunch. The seafood is fresh and well cooked. My favorite one is their grilled octopus. So tender and flavorful. Their famous pasta Fusilli is standing out and definitely a must-have choice. Overall experience is great and will come back in the future.
The dinner was awesome! Best ravioli I’ve ever had! Also the fusilli tomato sauce was great. Thank you for that!
I had 2 lovely dinners at Marea this week; one unplanned on a cold wet night when I needed sustaining food and , the second planned, with my daughter. On both occasions the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and the food well-prepared, interesting and delicious. I felt well taken care of in this gracious restaurant.
excellent food !! I love Marea!!
We discovered Marea a couple of years ago and now make it a regular stop for lunch when we come to the city 2-3 times a year. We always enjoy it and look forward to it.
Amazona EXPERIENCE in all words
Wonderful service and food!!!
Excelente comida! La decoración y el servicio sensacional
Don’t waste your time if you desire true Italian food along with true Italian atmosphere and service!
Food doesn’t resemble anything Italian....it is just an American overpriced restaurant to justify its location and rent
Was looking forward to have a special anniversary dinner and was very disappointed!
I had lunch with my family. The service was very good. They have two course lunch set and a la carte menu. We liked the flexibility. The food was good. The only thing we did not like is that some of the vegetable sides were too salty, but I have to say that the seafood was delicious. We order Halibut, Scallops, crab and octopus. They were all very good.
