What Insiders Are Saying
Marea is about as good as upscale eating gets in Midtown, and there’s a lot of that around. Don’t miss the bone marrow and octopus fusilli.
Totally fantastic experience. From the moment you’re greeted at the door you know that you will be having a wonderful dining experience. The food is fabulous and the wait staff is superior. A totally amazing lunch. Can’t wait to return.
Fusilli best pasta I've ever had. Tagliata was good but a little salty.
The quality of the food, and the fine service make this an outstanding experience. The price of the meal is unfortunately in line with the quality. We had 2 prix fixe orders, and it was honestly too much food, at a cost of $350 with tip (no alcohol). So, for special occasions, this place is the bomb. Next time we will get two appetizers, one pasta dish, 2 mains, and split a dessert and probably save $100 off the check. Still, highly recommended.
Service was very good. Food was fine. I think overpriced.
Always enjoy it
el mejor restaurant italiano que yo conozco. excelente servicio, buena actitud del personal , excelente calidad y sabor de los alimentos y el medio ambiente extraordinario.
I went to dinner last week. We loved the atmosphere, loved the wine and loved the
food!!! Cannot stop talking about the fabulous food and experience! How often does a Mom
get to have dinner with her sweet, talented son and the restaurant to be a 10 plus.
Will be back with my husband!
Great food and wine as usual, but service was VERY disappointing, waited over 30m despite having reservation and host did not help at all...
Awesome evening, delicious food!
Just special. Food, service, and NY atmosphere.
Everything about dining at MAREA is excellent. Attention to details, service, food cannot be faulted.
We had a wonderful Astice, shared the Rissotto and the classic Branzino. Everything perfect. I am not surprised because I have been in Marea several times and it was always perfect. But I am surprised with comparisons. Next day I went to SISTINA and could not believe it. Horrible everything and much more expensive than Marea. I think that something is going wrong with people. How can exist SISTINA? Better stay at home with a piece of bread. Or nothing.
Very nice restaurant. Cool ambience and great food. Everything was nice.
One can count on Marea to consistently deliver wonderfully decadent meals in a sleek and sophisticated atmosphere! The service is always impeccable and friendly! I highly reccomend ordering the oysters, caviar, and langoustines!
Food is always wonderful there. Service is always great also.
So I had the Dover sole , and it was good , but not fileted tableside, Which was surprising. The carrots side dish was wonderful. My husband had the baked lobster which he thought was meager and not as good as he thought it would be. Our appetizers were fine. The big complaint was the dessert I ordered the fresh donuts. They were so hot that my first bite burned all the way down my throat. They were nice enough to bring me a ton of water, and took it off the bill, but I suffered with a sore throat for 2 days. We had been to Marea several times, and it was always wonderful, so maybe we just had a bad night. Because of that, we might come back again, but this night was a disappointment.
Marea holds two Michelin stars because it is an incredibly special jewel in the heart of Manhattan. The team, seafood, pastas, desserts, and extensive wine list are exceptional. Our favorite spot in Gotham. Five stars. Five stars. Five stars.
It is always a pleasure to returnto this restaurant, a must during our frequent visits to New York.
The service was across-the-board exceptional. The crudi is lovely for an appetizer, but supplement it with the octopus. Lovely.
The food is not the same anymore.
Great food and great service by the waitress Lila. We were there Sunday 31.03.19 and the wine somelier was also super attentive. I had a pasta with crab, tomato, oregano and pepper that was simply wonderful.
I was very disappointed with several of the dishes. The lobster risotto had way too many ingredients making it almost inedible, and the short rib ravioles were tasteless.
Food was great will be back again! Everything from start to finish was phenomenal
The halibut was disappointing & the music was too loud
Start to finish, this was one of the finest meals we have had at this location since the closure of San Dominico. Two-hours passed in a painless afternoon in NYC. Food, service, ambience, they’ve got it all. Clearly this restaurant deserves every one of its Michelin stars. I leave it to the gods about a third star; were this to happen, we would not at all be surprised.
Great as always!!
The food and the service are top notch. The 30 minute wait at 9:30pm was not acceptable.
We have to wait over 30 mins past our reservation time to be seated. Aside from that, food and service were both good.
Superb as always!
The most delicious pasta in NYC.
Excellent food. Fabulous restaurant.
Came to marea about 10 times already. Everything was good enough but everything was the same...
It was hard to find anything new from the menu.
Food was excellent overall. We all had the 4 course prix fixe. With 9 of us we could sample a lot. The only dish that I felt was not on par was the clams and spaghetti. The pasta itself was good and properly prepared The clams were perfectly sweet but the butter lemon parsley sauce was too oily and too lemony strong I guess I am spoiled by having had this dish in Florence and few places since have made it as well. The squid ink ravioli were wonderful The halibut dish perfectly prepared and fish not dry The grilled octopus was very interesting and not rubbery The chocolate mousse cake dessert was creamy and with beautiful presentation as were all the dishes artfully prepared. Will definitely return
Found a piece of scallion in the water glass.
Host being rude when I brought a stroller with a baby sleeping.
Waiter serving 6 different table in the back coming to our table too late everytime, so I had to stop him everytime when I need something.
Wonderful restaurant. I started with the yellowfin tuna crudo, then had the insalata, followed by the bronzino. Everything was delicious. For dessert, I had the sorbets, which were amazing. My husband had the Mediterranean fluke crudo, the Spaccatelli pasta and then also the branzino for his main dish. He loved each course. For dessert, he had the coconut rice pudding, which he really enjoyed. The ambience, the service and the food are all perfection. We can't wait to go back again.
The four of us had an incredibly delicious dinner! The pasta and the seafood were superb!
Service, ambience, food are hitting on all cylinders, a divine experience!
Everything was excellent except the pasta wasn’t hot. But the flavor was delicious.
