Marjorie has delicious food and a quaint atmosphere. Get away from the hustle and bustle of Cap Hill. Marjorie is an oasis with a neighborhood vibe whose food shines through without bells and whistles. We had an amazing experience and service at Marjorie and will be back again soon.

I love this restaurant! After a couple of years' hiatus for no good reason (work, moving, etc.), I returned to eat at Marjorie a couple of months ago, and have eaten there twice more since. The food is delicious, varied, and super fresh (we especially like the burrata and pear, fish tacos, and the Jamaican Jerked Chicken). The staff is welcoming and charming, drinks are excellent, and the ambience low key, just lovely. So glad we returned - it is our new favorite place to dine out!

Got thrown in the back room, which seemed quickly improvised for Valentine’s day or other high traffic occasion. Poorly heated and insulated room, far from the kitchen so every of our overpriced dishes took for ever to come out. First was seated by the door which was opened continuously so moved to a table farther from the door. Unfortunately, the other table was by the restroom, so just as bad. For $95 per person I felt utterly ripped off. Never going back.

We came in on Valentine’d Day so understandably they were busy, but the server or food runner forgot a couple things and we had to ask for them again. Like I said it was a busy evening so we didn’t fuss or worry too much over that. Food wise, everything was good except for the the main entree. We both chose the steelhead, it was underwhelming. Cocktails were great and deserts were yummy. Overall it wasn’t super memorable, and I wish I could have experienced their regular menu. From what I read online, it sounded much more exciting that the five course meal that was offered. We might come back another night when things aren’t too hectic.

We have been eating at Marjorie for 6 or 7 years and have never had a bad experience. The food is wonderful and the staff are great. Their menu changes slightly with the seasons so don’t be surprised if your favorite item isn’t available but know that there will be something just as wonderful in its place.

Went for my birthday with a group of 7. 4 out of the 7 entrees had to be sent back. 2 overcooked steaks, one bigger missing half of the items it was supposed to have, and flatbread missing something else. Food is bland and has no flavor. Portions are very small and overall not worth the price. To top it off our service was bad. It seemed like our waiter was high on something. He would walk out with drinks and a confused look on his face and couldn’t remember which table ordered what. It took 30 minutes for 2 in my party to get their second glass of wine; which they only got after I waived down someone to let them know their steaks were cooked well when they should have been rare. It took at least 44 minutes to get the ginger beer I ordered. I reminded the waiter multiple times and he let coming back without it. One time his response was that “it got busy”. It did get busy and he had a number of large tables but you don’t say that to a customer after it’s taken 45 minutes to get a drink. They should have had a second server helping him. We didn’t even bother with dessert after being there for almost 3 hours because they were so slow and food took so long. They did give us a discount and another woman apologized and said “it’s not usually like this”. Our waiter didn’t come back to check on us towards the last part of our meal. We wouldn’t have tipped accept they already included it. One member of our palette was there a few weeks prior and had just about the same experience. Just all around horrible experience and would never go back. And it’s too bad because I was really looking forward to eating at and supporting this restaurant.

Marjorie continues to be an excellent neighborhood restaurant, turning out delicious food with the warmest, friendliest service. Kudos especially to our bartender, who has taken care of us multiple times, in his attention to detail and excellent drink recommendations. I especially recommend the ricotta gnocchi and jalapeño hushpuppies, which are menu mainstays. My one suggestion for improvement is considering some method to make the bar itself warmer during the colder half of the year, as it's made of metal.

Had a reservation for 5 people. I confirmed the reservation through OpenTable and then got a phone call from the restaurant, and confirmed a second time. When we arrived, we were told we had to sit a table for 4. This after we had confirmed twice?!? Manager was very cavalier about telling us this was our only option. Three people sat in booth seating for two - squished - zero elbow room. (Halfway through the meal, the table of two next to us exited, and we did take over their table.) Meanwhile, there ended up being a configuration that could have accommodated us, if folks at other tables had been seated differently. In the grand scheme of things, I acknowledge this is somewhat of small potatoes, but very annoying at the time and not how to run a hospitality business. Have been to this restaurant several times in the past. Will not be returning.

Waited over 30 minutes for the first cocktails we ordered. The staff did a fair job of trying to compensate, but we still had a long, LONG wait until we received any service beyond the initial greeting. Very sub-par compared to previous visits.

A great New Years Eve dinner! Everything went well this evening from a fantastic server, Katie I believe, to all the food and a small room with decoration and ambiance that was just plain fun. The dinner was a set menu and didn't disappoint. We were able to choose from a couple of items for each of the four or five courses and my wife did the wine paring that was excellent. Can't say enough about our server Katie. She was able to pace or dishes and really made our dinner a special one.

We had a great dinner celebration. There was only one server/bartender for the entire restaurant. He did a great job, but I think that it was impossible to keep up when the place was full and just the requirements for a bartender required one person.

food is very good, Donna very welcoming, we enjoy it in the summer, but in the winter it is cold and drafty, and cold metal chairs without cushion only add ito the discomfort. curtain entrance à la Spinasse and cushions would be big pluses.

I added that we were coming for a birthday to my open table reservation, and I reminded one of the wait staff in advance of receiving our entrées. What I was hoping for was what I’d seen done at two other tables already that evening - a dessert with a candle. Instead, I had to again remind the wait staff about it.

Food, service, ambience all were amazing. Especially in darker winter Seattle evenings, Marjorie is a place of warmth, comfort, and lovely food combinations. With an eclectic and nice sized selection of foods from which to choose, this is a gem. That being said, in the summer months I love being on the patio in the late evening light as well!

This was the straw that broke the camel’s back... I’ve been to Marjorie a number of times over the years and never had a more than a “meh” experience. This time I made a reservation because it was close to the home of good friends who I wanted to treat to a nice meal as a thank you for a referral to my business. What a mistake. From start to finish it felt like a bad joke... getting seated in the “over-flow” storage room with bad lighting and a horrible sour odor, then there was the less than attentive service, and finally, the food which took way too long was mediocre at best with very small portions. The kicker was the price. I can’t recall paying so much for so little in terms of quality of food, service and atmosphere. There are MANY fine restaurants in Seattle that are worth your time and money... this is not one of them. I’ll never go back.
