My boiled beef dish with polenta was not very tasty. The carne asada and the shrimp dish that others at my table had, were much better.
We went for Sunday brunch and were pleased with the menu selections. The service was excellent considering how busy it was.
5 of us had Sunday brunch and enjoyed it a lot. The orange juice is fresh (as advertised), coffee is very good, and there are good brunch options. The pancakes with fruit and cajeta were very good - the only complaint is very little fruit. The french toast with fruit, cajeta, ice cream was a big portion for a big eater and you could get it without ice cream. The steak and eggs were delicious. The restaurant had loud music and was quite full so it was difficult to hear across the table.
Zack and the management were amazing!
Food was great. Patio was awesome. The experience exceeded my expectations
Pretty upset about this visit! Would not come back!
Maya del Sol is always fun but especially on the patio on a summer evening. Beautifully designed, everything complements: flowers, decor, food, drinks, service! If I went out weekly, Maya would be my go-to place!
Went for a friends birthday dinner. It was good the server was very friendly and provided us with a birthday dessert.
Went with high hopes as it came highly recommended. The guacamole was very, very good. We started with appetizers and our friend had the ceviche, which was quite good. My husband had the Avocado Relleno but the crab was really fishy. I had the Sopes de Tinga and the corn masa cups were oily. Worse, the filling was bland rendering the entire dish tasteless. On the waiter’s recommendation, I ordered the trout special at $26 and it had clearly been sitting in the oven for a very long time. Not only was the fish overcooked, it was too salty to eat. My husband ordered the fish tacos, fried, and again, there was no taste to the filling. Our friend had the Carne Asada and he said it was fine.
On the up side, the margaritas were tasty with freshly squeezed juice, and the abuelita skillet cookie was good.
It’s too bad that our overall impression of the food is heavy, overcooked and under seasoned (except for salty trout), and for some of the fish, just past the sell-by date.
We come here a lot and it’s usually better than this last time. We were placed in a room away from everyone, only two other tables were being occupied in that room, do it immediately felt like they lost my reservation, which I think was the case. The waitress kept apologizing for being new which is fine, but there would be stretches where we would lose her for 30 minutes. The dinner was a graduation dinner for my son. If I would have known this would have happened I would have booked at Citrine.
This was my first outing since the passing of my Mom in April. My sister and I had a wonderful time!
A fun atmosphere, but so-so on the food quality. Some things good, some bad, many very average. There really is no sweet spot. Sent my meal back the last two times I have visited - tacos, nonetheless. How difficult can it be?
The scallops dish was amazing, the salmon tartar lacked flavor, the mezcal mule was really good.
We had a large party of 12, and we were treated incredibly well. The food was phenomenal, and it was perfectly timed for all guests. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience!
The food was excellent. Service was slow and spotty. The waiter seemed to have too many tables and kept forgetting about us.
I hope the Owners will spend some money soon to refurbish the restaurant. I realize its popularity is wearing the furniture out. Otherwise May Del Sol is an Oak Park gem.
Family get together
Excellent food and service.
Went there for a celebration with the family. Patio was open so we ate outside. Waiter was good, water glasses never were empty and the food was excellent. Can't recommend this place enough.
Great service, manager was so kind & Ami was a great server.
A nice place to go if you live in the neighborhood. Great outdoor seating. The service was friendly, though very slow. The food was pretty good but fairly expensive.
Best margaritas and patio in chicago!
Need more servers for outside area.
Lovely patio, happy environment. Food is mediocre particularly for the price. Lovely menu descriptions but there is a consistent lack of flavor; food is really quite bland. Same is true for the cocktails. Overpriced, not especially tasty. Ambience is very nice, not worth the price of the food and drink.
We had a reservation, but weren’t seated until almost an hour after my reservation time. They weren’t very apologetic, more inconvenienced by our arrival. They sat regular wait list people before us as if we just walked up without a reservation. Food service was slow. The food came out burnt and cold, so that’s an awesome combo, and the bathroom smelled like weed. I can’t say that I won’t come back, because it is usually one of the better places to eat in Oak Park. The patio is nice.
Enjoyable as usual
The food, as always, was delicious. Unfortunately, we ordered the ‘white sangria’. $34 for a pitcher (we asked the waiter). Sounds good, right. However, it was just a carafe, not a pitcher. A tad expensive. Still had a good time.
I have been dining at Maya Del Sol occasionally for the past two or three years. Although the menu is can be a bit pricey, the quality and amount of food has made it worthwhile. However, my recent experience at this restaurant took me by surprise. While the menu prices may have remained the same, the portion sizes have decreased significantly (For example, the Sopes de Tinga & fried plantains). I was very disappointed with having to pay a lot of money for insufficient portion sizes, and I hope they will return to the original portions. Otherwise, I do not plan on returning, and I do not recommend this place to people expecting a worthwhile meal for the money they've paid.
The food was very very good. Dessert (chocolate mousse) was amazing. Service was excellent. Even the drinks were perfect. We will be back.
Great ambience and patio. Everyone was friendly, but the service was very slow and our food took a long time to come out. We just order tacos and it wasn’t busy until after we had been there awhile. Will probably try again to see how the second experience goes.
We absolutely love Maya. It’s a go-to neighborhood restaurant for us. I have to say that service has always been amazing...but something was up on Sunday. Maybe short-staffed?
Lovely place with great service and delicious food and drink
My new favorite restaurant. Food was excellent. Service was excellent.
Wonderful local Oak Park spot. Excellent menu and when the weather is good the outside seating area is great.
I love this place! Food is exceptional, albeit a bit pricey, but worth it. And if the weather is good and you can sit outside? Amazing outdoor area.
The manager is very present, and stops by all tables to check in, which shows the level of caring that Maya has in both their staff and product.
I have thoroughly enjoyed and sent many people to Maya Del Sol over the years. We went there for Cinco de Mayo which may have been a mistake. The place was quite crowded, which we expected. We had made a reservation days in advance which was good - we were given an outdoor table right away. A special menu had been prepared which was understandable. Unfortunately the fish tacos which I love and always recommend to others were tiny and lacking much flavor. Hopefully this was just what had been prepared for the day. The other thing we noticed, given the bright sunny day, is how overly "loved" the restaurant has become. It is badly in need to maintenance and freshening up. Hopefully that will come. Otherwise, it is still one of my favorite Oak Park restaurants.
Our server Zac was outstanding! So friendly with lots of visits to our table despite the fact that the restaurant was packed for Cinco de Mayo.
This is an amazing restaurant, the patio is wonderful and most often...the service is good. Unfortunately, the day we were there the service was off. The restaurant was clearly overwhelmed with large parties and the service was spotty at best. It took a very long time for us to have our order taken, drinks delivered and appetizers served. Once the guac arrived, there were no chips! Another 10-15 minutes passed with waiters serving chips to all around us, but not to our table.
The lunch was far behind and ordering dessert was a folly. We discovered what we ordered was sold out after waiting for it long after the coffee was cold.
This lunch was a miss, however, previous meals have been great. We'll cut them some slack this time, but have higher expectations for our return meal.
Everything was ver good except the service,
It was terrible
Waiter acted mad the entire time we we’re there. He was not a happy person. He did not do his job
Used to be my favorite restaurant. Not anymore as the food portions keep going down while the prices keep going up.
Management and staff are outstanding, food was blah, drinks were ok. The day we came in they had a special menu didn’t care to much for the options. I do want to say thank you to all the staff for being so understanding and accommodating with my daughters food allergies you all deserve a gold star
