Maybe Frank - Surry Hills
We are a traditional Italian Woodfire pizzeria as well as a small cocktail bar on church lane, just off Bourke street in Surry Hills. Our pizza is made in the traditional Italian way. Our dough is rested between 36 and 72 hours, making the pizza easy to digest with a delectably crispy texture alla romana. The bar at Maybe Frank is our little secret. We are focused on aperitivo and digestive cocktails. Everything is done with a modern Italian twist and all created by our talented bartender: Andrea Gualdi. Our list is constantly changing according to seasonality and provenance. Always using the freshest ingredients, and peculiar Italian liquor that we can find on the market. Maybe Frank is a place for daily-dining, Sunday drinking, and for a little day-dreaming of your next adventure to our beautiful mother land.
.………Eh la madonna!!!
We came as a group of ten lat saturday to celebrate my birthday and it was perfect - a nice energetic ambiance that wasn't too loud that we couldn't hear one another, and the $30 all you can eat pizza was such good value. Drinks were AMAZING too - highly recommend the garibaldini :-) Thanks Maybe Frank!
Good pizza and cocktails , friendly service....a bit loud for a quiet dinner
Pizza was great, but definitely had tables of people super close together. No social distancing, but food and drinks were great.
Awesome birthday dinner for experience... thanks for the cannoli
That fried bread is incredible.
Beautiful food, friendly and helpful servers, lovely ambiance
Nice pizza but maitre'd couldn't find our online booking..
Great night, you'll love the food, drinks and the people...enjoy!
Perfect venue for date! Amazing NEGRONI, and pizza is very delicious! Good job guys
Outstanding service. Great food, drinks & ambience
Great pizza and incredible cocktails. So glad they are back open
Loved this restaurant!! Staff were so friendly and food was to die for!!!!!!!
Loved it!! Went on the Friday and brought all the family on the Saturday. Will continue to dine here and recommend to everyone. Best pizza I’ve had - and I’ve been to Italy!
Good service, great cocktails and excellent food !
A lovely evening with friends at Maybe Franks - the pizzas were freshly made and delicious - a good variety of toppings and clearly very well prepared in the Italian way. Salad and a dessert were an excellent touch - it was also fantastic value - look forward to seeing Frank again soon !
Davvero eccellente la pizza! Molto più buona di tante pizze che si trovano in Italia. Servizio simpatico e veloce.
We went for the early sitting - 6.30pm, knowing we needed to vacate the table by 8.30pm. We were sat at an indoor table by the door - every time that door opened it blew a gale.
When I asked what alcohol free options were available (I don’t drink) the waiter practically rolled his eyes and said he doesn’t trust people who don’t drink?!
Food came out pretty quickly and was tasty.
At 7.45pm that same waiter told us we have to be out in 15 minutes. I said my understanding was that we had the table until 8.30pm and he rudely said no we didn’t and hurry up or he would kick us out!!
Not sure whether he thought he was funny but I found him extremely rude and for that reason I will not return.
Somewhat hidden away but an absolute beaut of a place with a simple space with plenty of buzz even midweek.
Service was on point but filled with genuine personality from the chefs greeting as you enter right through to departure. Our waiter was great from his rapport through to product knowledge just wish I remembered his name.
Cocktails were superb as you'd expect from the sister venue of Maybe Sammy, which you must try when in Sydney.
The pizzas were the best we found in both Sydney and Melbourne and they certainly rivalled a lot we have in Manchester for traditional Neapolitan woodfire pizza. Try the Alba but ask to swap the sauce for the pumpkin puree (waiter suggested) as it works so well...but listen to them when they say the chilli oil on the table packs a punch!!
In town for Mardi Gras, and popped in for some pizza and drinks. Friendly staff, amazing brick-oven pizza, and drinks were great too. Would definitely recommenced to anyone!
Great! Service and ambience really wonderful. Food delicious
Fantastic. Our favourite place in Sydney. Highly recommended.
Very good pizzas and cocktails but a little bit expensive.
We really didn't enjoy the food at Maybe Frank -- the pizza was so thin it was sloppy. Knowing traditional Italian style pizza well this was enjoyable. The prawns and calamari on the seafood pizza were definitely your frozen school prawn variety and at that price I would expect better.
Stefano, who assisted our table through all night, is the nicest guy - outstanding service.
The starters we ordered (Calamari and Burrata) were to die for.
Underwhelmed by the pizza - one of us ordered a gluten free pizza that came completely burned (Stefano promptly got us a new one).
Other two pizzas were half burned and we had to wait quite a bit as well.
Very peaceful and happiest environment. Doesn't feel that you leave yourhome. Is like go for a friends house. Pizza the best , is like be in Italy again. Bravo
Food was lovely and the service was brilliant - would have given more stars if we could :)
Great service, excellent pizzas and drinks, lovely location. Only ask would be a bit better noise insulation as it can get loud with fairly densely-packed tables and hard surfaces.
Amazing! Special shout out to Neilsen and Jamie behind the bar! These guys rock!!
Fantastic dining experience. We went for the pesto pasta, ragout gnocchi and pumpkin salad. Every dish was so delicious. The wines were also amazing. I loved every minute of it. Get the outdoor dining if you’re worried about noise levels. Service was also fantastic.
Food was exceptional from entrees to pastas and pizzas for our group of 5. Service was spot on, only negative was noise from a large group near us, but that's part of dining out on a Saturday night.
Cocktails were great along with the service. However, the food was average - poor. The rocket in the salad tasted bad, perhaps it had gone off. The pizza was average, quite tasty but the base wasn’t crispy at all, very sloppy. I would recommend for cocktails before heading elsewhere for dinner.
The staff went above and beyond to make it a fantastic experience. So friendly and accommodating!
Tuesdays are all you can eat which sounds nice. However you receive a large pizza and must finish it before getting another one, making it nearly impossible to try more than one flavour per person.
Additionally, it is not $20pp as advertised on their weekly promotions. It's $20pp if you buy a drink (minimum price $5 for a glass of coke, more for alcoholic drinks). If you do not purchase a drink, the pizza is $25pp.
Pizza base was nice. Food was decent.
But does not really satisfy the main part of 'all you can eat' as you would want variety.
Pizza autentico does better.
Great pizza and very fast service. Highly recommended.
Nothing short of amazing! Being an Italian with very high pizza standards, this place is brilliant. And to add, the service is second to none.
Great Tuesday happy hour! Such great value for the quality.
Very good place and good food
I visited this place on my own when I was visiting Sydney from Scotland. I always find it a little uncomfortable eating alone but the 2guys behind the bar made me feel very welcome - their chat was awesome, the food was great, and the cocktail the guy made for me was amazing - id love to have been able to go back - next time in Sydney it will be my first stop !
Great pizza, great service, lovely atmosphere. We will come back
All you can eat pizza was great, although got seated at a table where everyone walked behind me. My jacket was on the chair and fell off like three times as people squished behind me to get through. It was by two waiters as well and they didn't apologize or even look back.
Atmosphere was fantastic. Staff very friendly (although they didn’t know the appropriate times to approach you). My partners food was good however mine was shocking. I don’t think I have ever had a worse pizza. I had a vegan gluten free pumpkin base with mushroom pizza and the base and pumpkin were good however the mushrooms were watery and cold. They left pools of water all over the pizza and when you bit into them they would just exert water. It was as though they had been frozen, retained water, microwaved to defrost for 30 secs and then put on the pizza. Because of the Staff & atmosphere I can understand why it is a popular venue.
