McGlynns Pub & Restaurant - Dover
a little pricey but a nice place to eat, have drinks and hang out.
The food was good. Service was good. Cleanliness lacking particularly in the restroom.
Great food and great service! You won't be disappointed.
Other than the baked potatoes being very overdone, our drinks, dinner and service were very good.
We came to Mcglyns for my birthday dinner. Totally met our expectations. Will definitely be returning fantastic place great ambience.
Early evening reservation. The venue was quaint but staff was still cleaning up to open. Mani fajita was dull and “glued together” with A mex mix cheese; horrible mouth feel. Cole slaw was bland and not seasoned at all. The rest of the menu was standard pub food which does differentiate it from any other pub restaurant.
We had the Special Prime Rib dinner with hand-cut french fries and sautéed zucchini. The prime rib was prepared as we ordered and brought out quickly. It was warm and could have been a little hotter but was very tasty and filling. It was a very nice sized cut. Server (Brianna) was attentive and she checked back often to make certain our meals and drinks were properly prepared.
I typically visit Newark McGlynns, this was my first time at Dover.
I visited early for dinner on NYE, having a reservation gave us a short wait. Once seated our waitress seemed a little scattered. She was unsure of specials, was not attentive on drinks, and to watch her at the wait staff area was dizzying. Yes, it was NYE, but it was not overly busy at the time of my visit and there was plenty of staff that they were not overloaded with tables.
When we ordered our appetizer, it was a special order and when it arrived it was wrong. They did take it back and corrected it quickly.
My entree was a burger which was perfect; my dinner companion ordered the Bourbon Salmon and it was beyond over cooked and dry; just unable to be eaten. Our waitress did not deliver our food and did not come back to check on us until we were done. The waitress did inform a manager, who offered another option, but at that point we were ready to go. Kindly they did remove the item from our check.
I will give it another try because I enjoy McG and Dover is closer than Newark.
We were there at lunch time. Appetizer and drinks served in a timely manner. Then there was a long, very long lull before our lunches were served. No explanation for delay was offered. One person was served the incorrect side with her lunch. It was corrected, but only after it was pointed out when the server was stopped specifically, not when the server checked on our table. Fries looked thin and pale. McDonalds fries looks better. Most people said sandwiches were 'okay'. Strawberry salad was okay with added chicken; definitely not worth the price charged. We eat here only when out of other places to go. Not much choice in Dover, DE.
Overall a pleasant dining experience. The food and service were fine. We enjoy the atmosphere and their menu. My wife likes their corn bread and I enjoy their craft beer selection.
Loved this place..great service!
Food was good, although it was not as hot temperature wise as I would have liked. We did wait a while for the food to arrive, so I'm thinking it sat there for several minutes.
Went Monday for half price appetizers and Tuesday for burgers both nights the meals were very tasty and nice choices.
I was there for a mid-week late lunch business meeting with a client. Hostess staff happily seated us in a nearly empty section to provide some privacy.
Our food choices, (jambalaya and Cobb salad), were tasty, and well-served.
All in, a B+ experience. Will definitely repeat.
Always a nice time at McGlynns whether it be for drinks and/or food. The location is great (on Silver Lake and about 1.5 blocks from where we live), and the place has a nice neighborhood vibe.
Extensive menu in a calm atmosphere. Food was very good snd the waitress was wonderful. We enjoyed our evening and look forward to returning again and again.
We love McGlynns! It is very close to where we live, has delicious food and great service. We have held several large family events there and received great service then as well.
Had company from out of town. Service was excellent. We asked for air to be turned down. We were freezing. Our waiter obliged. He was very attentive. Food was good. Drinks as well. Will come again. As seniors we enjoyed the dining room away from the bar..
We enjoyed a wonderful celebration of my Mother’s 95th birthday last night in a private dining area overlooking the lake. The food was delicious and our server was very accommodating. Thank you for hosting this special event!
Not our first visit, and we have recommended it often.
Service was perfect!! Pretty water views. Great Irish pub!
Tuesday 1)2 price burgers (McGlynn's stuffed) and $2.50 domestic draft...a fine meal. They offer tater tots if you prefer them to fries. Our server, Katie, was outstanding!7
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch. Our server expertly handled a table of ten with good humor and even snapped family photos for us. Delicious food and fun drinks. Thank you!
In a town like Dover there are few quality restaurants. This place gets an A for ambience. Lovely lakeside location. Need to update their web site as they did not have ava ilable what was on it.
Had a great waitress in Melissa. She handled our group effortlessly. Burgers were great and the local root beer was a plus
We’ve been to McGlynns a few times and it is hit or miss. A few months ago we ordered the Prime Rib Special and received generous portions. This time the portion size was smaller and not as meaty. There was a table of 8 next to us and they were very loud. In addition one lady was using profanity. Perhaps the manager should have come around and asked them to be less boisterous especially since there were children dining with their parents.
Waiter was insufficient, two prime rib dinners came out room temperature, two soup orders not hot. Taste of food was good, variety was plentiful, view was great by the water. We had such high hopes but left disappointed. Our server just wasnt on his game, we had to hunt him down more often than desired for empty water glasses, room temp foods, extra napkins...
I was able to reserve a table for 8 on-line. That was new, but much faster than having to call the restaurant, interrupt the hostess during a busy time to schedule my reservation and wait for the hostess to actually do the reservation. I was the reservation for a monthly dinner group and the number of attendees varies. The really nice thing was that I had several additional people come and McGlynn's Pub & Restaurant went out of their way to accommodate all of us without disrupting the other dinners!
Our server, Amber, was fantastic! Ambience was pleasant. The view was beautiful. The experience was wonderful!
We had a great server, good food and a nice dinner. Definitely coming back!
The food was very good. Service was a little off as our server was apparently very busy. Another one actually took our drink orders which I thought was very helpful. After that there was no problem.
McGlynns is right in our neighborhood, so we go there quite often. We had never had the prime rib special and had a birthday offer from them for BOGO entree free. We were able to use the offer for the special and were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Our server was very pleasant and capable.
I couldn’t find anything to complain about. It was a perfect Valentines Day dinner. And Thursdays are a Prime Rib special day and they came as we ordered. Just what I needed.
We went for the AUCE steamed shrimp and it was amazing. One side and everyone’s side was also amazing. Cornbread is great. We went back in January for this also. We will be coming again soon.
Had the rack of ribs which was very good; the Reuben sandwich was also very good.
Yes, but I was not a happy camper. Made a reservation, but did not end up where I reserved.
Too much bread and not enough flavor in the French Onion Soup. The Ruben sandwich was just Ok, again not a lot of flavor. The Apple Walnut salad had lots of brown-edged lettuce pieces but apples and walnuts were good.
This was our first visit for dinner in a very long time and it was a great experience. Our server, Tori, was very personable and friendly. She explained meal options and provided everything we needed to make our meal enjoyable. We both selected the Prime Rib dinner and what a great choice. The meat was done per our liking and the sides were cooked correctly but not overdone. The Prime Rib was roasted and sliced per order which is the best way to enjoy this meat. We will definitely be back for the Prime Rib another visit.
Family get together
We went for brunch on Sunday over the Christmas weekend because of the high reviews we heard from other people. The food was very good with a great selection and generous portions. We were very glad we made a previous reservation. The service was ok but not what I expected from the reviews I read before choosing to eat there. The views were peaceful and it wasn’t too crowded when we first got there. As our meal went on and it got later in the day, more and more people came in and that peacefulness went away.
