Open table should be ashamed of themselves. I booked a restaurant for this reservation and it was confirmed by OpenTable. When I got to the restaurant it was clearly closed down for quite some time one of the neighbors came out on the sidewalk and saw me looking at it and said it had been closed for months. How come open table doesn’t keep track of its restaurants. Then came the nightmare of trying to reach OpenTable Customer service. It’s basically impossible. When you call on the phone they tell you to go to a chat online and the phone hangs up on you. When you go to the chat you get told you’re in a waiting queue of somewhere between 15 and 25 people and you can spend 34 hours waiting And never get to chat with anyone. Well I’m annoyed that the restaurant was shut down I’m more annoyed that OpenTable sent me on a wild goose chase and doesn’t seem to want to hear for me as a customer.
The restaurant was literally closed which we didn’t know until we got there so I wish I got a warning another that otherwise I’m sure it would have been great
The restaurant has closed down, I showed up for my reservation to find the place shuttered 🤬
I think it’s hard doing a review in these times, as some restaurants are not working up to their usual. Service wasn’t great but the food was good. Especially the calamari. Should have had 2 for the table!
Pastas looked good. I ordered a pizza that seemed like it was missing ingredients. Crust was good.
Overall we enjoyed and would go back.
Great for pasta and pizza. All fresh and homemade.
Great food, great service, great time in this UES neighborhood restaurant. 10/10 would recommend.
Food was decent. Classic Italian meatballs and mixed seafood platter. Decent for a neighborhood place. Best thing was the bread on the table which tasted like crispy ny pizza crust, so I will definitely try their pizza which might be the best thing there.
Been to this restaurant several times. Tonight was a disappointment. The service was spotty (leaving dirty plates too long on the table) and the food barely mediocre. The Caesar salad was wilted. The main pasta dish cold. The pizza doughy. I hope that this was an aberration. In this case, it will be a good long while until I return.
Great work with the outdoor dining arrangement - food and service were excellent too
Very pleasant sitting outside. The service was exceptionally good
Nice outdoor space
Brunch menu is a little limited, but we were able to order off the regular menu and still receive the brunch menu. Waitress was kind enough to help me find something to my liking (I’m picky) and she offered excellent service! Only reason I’m giving 4 stars (aside from the limited brunch menu) is because the utensils were a little dirty.
Elliot our server made everything super special. He is the most attentive but kind server I think we have ever known in the city. Thank you Elliot. He always checked in at the right time with a smile, and although he was super busy, he handled and attended to everyone without any stress.
The prix fix menu was great and glad we got an early table. The hostess was very nice too and took my coat.
We love the restaurant because it’s a neighborhood place. Although I don’t live here full-time my family has been visiting for years. We need more places like Mimmo’s.
We will be back just to see Elliot. He’s the best.
The food and presentation was outstanding! I can’t wait to return! The service was not as good as the food but was kind and earnest. I would recommend it to all.
Great staff - very friendly. The food taste really good and the serving is generous. They have tables for big groups. I am definitely going back there.
I am afraid that once again this restaurant will be closing soon. I took my friend there for her birthday and they did not have most of the food on the menu. No scallops, no filet of sole, no clams.. If they didn't get delivery, they probably aren't paying their bills. I'm sorry because the food and service are really good but one doesn't go out and spend real money to be told that many of the items offered are not there. It was very disappointing.
Great neighborhood restaurant. I love the ambiance and decor. They have great pizza. The food plating is pretty. I would definitely go again. Mimmo is on the premise which makes it a personal experience. You can actually see him preparing your dinner.
a disaster my pasta dish could have sunk a ship the shrimp were not fresh neither was my wife's Bronzino. The waiter brought the wrong pasta for our granddaughter. the place has declined. We had tasty meals in the past but not this time. two waiters and no manager or person in charge of dining. A little strange.
Mimmo is here from Italy/cooking authentic Italian food to challenge the senses: Visual, aromas, palates. Mimmo’s authentic pizza oven is where he creates a Pizza Dough adorned with a variety of traditional toppings to delight the most discerning guests. Mimmo’s hospitality & big smiles are filled with much Italian pride. On Palm Sunday Mimmo surprised me & guests by serving us a large bruschetta topped with fresh tomatoes, olive oil on his delicious pizza dough. I am so happy Mimmo continues his Italian traditions in my Upper Eastside Neighborhood Restaurant ! I love Mimmo’s!!!
We enjoyed Mimmo Restaurant. The food was like home cooking. The alcoholic beverages are fairly priced. We look forward to going again soon.
First visit. Will definitely return. Delicious food, good atmosphere and you can have a conversation without having to scream.
We love the food here. Great drinks and wines.
However, they never seem to staff enough waiters and waitresses properly during the weekday. Always seem to wait and constantly ask for help. 1 person for all tables.
Very friendly and great food!
Quickly becoming a “destination” restaurant. Food and service improving steadily, better each time we go there.
As I age, I have learned that regret and hatred are more toxic to myself than they are to others. That being said, after my experience at Mimmo, I am willing to swallow poison if it means I can share my painfully miserable experience at Mimmo with anyone with ears. In fact, I would be willing to swallow poison to not eat at, think about, or see this restaurant ever again. Some of the highlights of my special evening: half the menu isn’t actually available, one of the meals (from the specials menu) was never made so the table had finished eating before one individual even got their food, bland and rubbery shellfish, ravioli filled with what can only be described as paste-y mystery filling, an ambiance straight out of a low budget mob movie remake, a wine list filled with overpriced screw tops, a lovely waitress (the only highlight of the evening) who’s warm demeanor was overshadowed by a brutish owner and an aggressive manager/front of house staff, service (from the kitchen) that was inexcusably slow given how empty the restaurant was, and a food menu that overall lacked creativity and favor (namely salt). To anyone looking for a restaurant to enjoy on the UES - I cannot implore you enough to go literally anywhere else. There’s a lovely bodega across the street, I would choose anything from there if I was in the neighborhood and starving.
The food was fine- it just took forever for us to get it. Had to get up and ask for water, our food and the check... No one was rude, our table just felt invisible.
First bad review I've ever given. Worst experience in 20 years living in nyc.
One good entree, one terrible. Sent the bad one back (which never happens) because it tasted like detergent. No further acknowledgement from staff.
Worst waiter in years. Empty water for an hour.
Took 30 minutes to get the check. They didn't take off the returned entree. I mentioned it and asked it to be removed. They tried to charge for it again.
They offered 15pct discount next time. Ha. We won't be back.
Comfortable neighborhood spot. Good value for the money. Music was at a moderate level. Caveat: I was there very early and the restaurant was not crowded.
Food is great-service a bit slow but overall worth a visit.
A bit elevated pizza place with food. Pizza's are terrific! We had a few fried calamari which was fresh and excellent with shoe string veggies. menu is limited, yet enough choices. Kitchen is slow, as is service...though pleasant. Will go back because it's local
Both my wife and I loved the food. We had Shrimp Scampi with Pasta and a wonderful soup to start.
Tasty, beautifully prepared and served Italian food in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Items made in the wood-fired oven were particularly exceptional, but everything we ordered was delicious.
It’s hard for any restaurant to be perfect: here are the pros and cons
-Food was delicious
-They let us dine and weren’t rushed at all
-Spot was cozy and clean
-The pulsd deal was SO worth the trip.
-Service was a little slow (wasn’t busy and we had to ask more than once for coffee)
-Brunch included bellinis, mimosas, or blood marys but they couldn’t offer the Bellini as the restaurant didn’t have one of the ingredients.
All in all, I’d return again :)
The food was delicious especially the pasta with the lobster. Would definitely go back.
Good food, quite a bit of variety and friendly service. A nice little local neighborhood restaurant.
The food was okay, but not reason enough to come back. I called the day before and asked if they were serving brunch and was told yes. When we came, it turns out they didnt serve brunch. We were the only customers for the entire meal, yet this was the slowest service I can remember. We were also told that we to share menus (we were a group of 5, but the only customers). There was a 5-7 minute difference in when our entrees came out, and our plates werent cleared in any timely fashion. I had to go find our server to even order coffee because almost 20 minutes had gone by since we had finished our meals. Even when I ordered coffee, no one cleared our plates before the coffee came to us. I know that there was only 1-2 folks working the room, but it's common sense to clear the table before serving the next course (or coffees in our case). Everyone was nice, but this was amateur service. Even with a packed house, this was unacceptable service, and almost incomprehensible given that we were the only customers.
New Year’s eve
Good solid food at a very reasonable price. Would recommend and return.
I have eaten at this place 5+ times this past year ( 2018) as it is close to my apartment. I fine the food is always delicious , the service terrific and they do not rush you. I also like the atmosphere . The pizza, Pasta Bolognese and seafood are outstanding!
Food just average
