Min Jiang @ Dempsey
Ambience was “cafeteria-esque” (tile floors and bare tables), yet lighting was exquisite. Fairly good service if a little rushed between courses. Prices are as expected of a Michelin Star restaurant. The roast duck, as other diners have noted, is on the fatty side, that is, the fat is not adequately rendered, so that it was like eating fat with some incidental skin, rather than eating crispy duck skin.
Excellent food but poor service. Do no eat outside because of noise from next door restaurant exhaust system. Should not charge extra for additional pancake. Limited choice of desert
The duck was delicious and we had a great time. Could not have been better.
This restaurant only serves you if you fit their racial profile. We were left completely unattended for a long time whilst our server attended to the next table .
After finally taking our order it took her a further 20 mins to let us know one item wasn’t available . I had to physically go up to her at the next table to tell her what l wanted to order instead and she still did nothing with the information so l signalled to another server to take my replacement order . Service continued to remain appalling and they served the rice and noodles but the main dish ( sweet and sour pork) took 1hr 15 mins to come despite me continually asking a passing server if they could check on our order. By the time the main dish came my children we so hungry and the rice and noodles were cold - extremely disappointing. I asked to speak to the manager to be told she was busy . She did finally come to our table with my bill to apologise and thank me for the feedback but honestly could not care less. The food and service does not justify the high prices at all . If on service alone - I would rate them zero stars . Will not go back there it’s nothing at all like the Goodwood Park Ming Jiang - l wouldn’t even guess the restaurants were connected . Seriously appalling service , they really don’t care about their customers unless they are local . May want to give this one a miss !!
Peking Duck was abit disappointing, slightly too oily. However the other dishes were very good.
Service was very good.
However, the price of tea was a shocker. We ordered pure Jasmine tea, and it cost us $12 per pax.
Great ambiance, good service.
Being a bit skeptical - The food is not a good match for its ambiance. The signature roast duck was good compared with normal roast ducks, for sure, but it still has a way to go to deserve its price tag.
I am not sure if the duck was left to cool down for some time after taken out of the oven, as I did not see any steam coming out of the duck when it was being cut. A portion of the skin was crispy but the rest is less well cooked and fatty. Meat was not juicy as expected. If you have tried the authentic roast duck in Beijing you will know the difference. Even the look is different.
The complementary dish, stir fried duck meat with spring onion was tasty though.
Fried prawns were also done quite well, no complains about it.
Was disappointed to find out that they are serving “fusion” food and some of the traditional favourites like the Beef Steak, Mapo Toufu are not on the menu. The Karobuta pork steak which I suppose (from the way it was served) is a poor replacement for the beef tenderloin steak which my entire family enjoyed previously at Min Jiang 1 North.
This was my 2nd visit. All the dishes I ordered were excellent except the avocado prawn paste with bacon roll which was not up to my expectation. it was over-fried and also because avocado itself is a tasteless fruit. can consider to substitute w other more flavorable fruit?
We ordered a la carte, and found the menu had plenty of choice. The highlights of our meal were the crispy-skinned duck (more than enough for three people) and the banana toffee dessert. Vegetable options were the only disappointment, as most seemed to be trying to emulate meat/protein dishes and the one we chose had crispy noodles that weren't.
First experience in this so call fine dinning restaurant.. like entering into canteen so noisy.. and food quality not as good but very pricey. One Peking duck cost > $110 .
Really not worth to dine.
Made a booking online. Received a call to confirm the day itself. Was asked whether I wanted a roasted duck - which I confirmed and asked for a table by the window. Special celebration as it was my wife s birthday. When we arrived table in the middle noisy. The duck was not booked, waiter told me that I refused over the phone - so why did I asked upon ordering the night itself then? The manager told me that it was my fault. We left at once and went somewhere else. The surprise dinner for my wife was ruined... worst customer experience I have ever had.
Food quality did not lift up to expectations. Some dim sum dishes were cold when served.
We were regulars at Min Jiang when we used to live in Singapore and it was located at Rochester Park, One North. It was one of our favourite restaurants especially for special occasions and when visitors came.
We were really looking forward to returning and trying out the new venue but we were sadly disappointed.
The duck was small for 4 people and we weren't served enough lettuce for the second serving. The service too could have been a bit more relaxed and allowed us time to drink our wine slowly and pay the bill in our own time without someone waiting for us to work out our group payment under pressure. We were happy to sit outside where it was quieter and not as brightly lit as inside.
The prices too seem to have gone up significantly and there were no wines on offer for under $100/bottle.
We still enjoyed the night but feel something has been lost with the move from Rochester which was really special.
Went there to celebrate my wife's birthday. The staff were very hospitable and an absolute delight.
The food was amazing too. Come hungry.
Thank you and we will be back.
No vibe. No dim sum on dinner menu. Limited items on menu.
Ambience is really not great.
Service was spotty - brought things out one at a time rather than together
Food is not as good as expected of min jiang. A customer made noise while eating. Service staff were attentive but I feel were there to make sure we buy more drinks.
Food could have been better
I go there mainly because I love the beautiful interiors by Ernesto bedmar at this MinJiang Dempsey outlet. I eat with all my senses rather than solely my stomach. Of course the food must be good, but restaurants need to go beyond just food especially when we eat out so much these days. I truly appreciate nice ambiance which is very hard to find in Chinese restaurants in Singapore. This Dempsey Min Jiang, Madame Fan and Imperial Treasures Super Peking Duck (at Paragon only is the lighting nice and dim, the other outlet is ugly and way too bright! ) are the only top 3 favorite Chinese restaurants of mine
Good. Food is nice, service also good, nice place.
The space is lovely but the food unspectacular. Nothing stood out. The Peking Duck could be improved. The skin wasn’t as crisp as we would have liked and the meat was not tasty. Service was polite.
Min Jiang at Goodwood Park in terms of the food quality is much better
Best crispy aromatic duck in Singapore! Ideal for out of towners and meals with friends. Staff always friendly.
I visited there with my family for dinner and my wife loved its ambiance and dishes.
The restaurant should offer a lazy Susan for big tables when the diners want to serve themselves instead of having the wait staff apportion the food.
The food, service and ambience is great. It will be great the noise level is significantly reduce.
Great ambience, and great food. Different menu from Goodwood park hotel though.
Should not charge for iced water by forcing diners to order a bottle of still water for $12.
Previously, no charge for hot water and now charging $1.20.
Food portion is slightly small in view of price charged.
Food was excellent but would really like to see duck as a starter as I went with a veggie and so couldn’t try it. Service was excellent and the ambience perfect. Must try the beef cubes.
The new Ming Jiang Dempsey situated in a lush of green with big glass window around the main dinning hall . Natural lights shone through the glass window which made the resturant feel the summer beauty and created a cozy vibrant ambience. The service is excellent with warm and sincere smile on the managers and staffs’ faces . The food was delicious . We had tried their mee pok, prawns , appetizers ( crispy eel, drunken chickens) & signatured dish “chef made Tofu with crab meats veggies”etc... all were delicious 😋
Lovely place for gathering , birthday dinner etc.
You can be assured of a great dining experience at Min Jiang. The new branch at Dempsey is particularly lovely because of its garden setting. Food as usual is top notch and service is impeccable. Staff are polite, attentive and knowlegeable about the menu.
So Ei and team were fantastic in accommodating our requests for a birthday celebration. Food was great and service was attentive.
A disappointment. The food was average, the service only OK, they made an error on our bill, English language skills made some communication difficult.... the reviews would have suggested a better experience but we did not have a good experience
Specially the pickles at the beginning, and the nest soup.
The building Is new, very high ceilings, looses intimacy. Looks good for business environment.
Dum Sim Platter was ok only.
Bar did the job well.
Excellent food and dim sum. Probably one of the best in Singapore. Would come back to try the Beijing duck and other Chinese dishes in future.
Beautiful decor and interiors. Artistically plated dishes delivered well balanced tastes. These visual presentations raised expectations for the overall dining experience. Sadly, service standards did not match. It was functional, akin to a generic local restaurant. Not bad service, but certainly not what you would expect of a high-end restaurant. Also, the noise level was not comfortable as sounds bounced off the hard furnishings. They could easily rectify this by hiding some insulation above the ceiling beams or the wall panels. There is an opportunity for improvement. Hopefully they will, as the food itself did not disappoint.
It was very busy n whilst the regular staff knew what they were doing - we were occasionally served by an intern who was really new like half an hour old so had a few hiccups . Food yummy as always .
The Food is very good. Staff is friendly. Environment is very cosy. I will come here more often. Bec we use to eat at good wood park - Ming Jiang.
Third time here for lunch. Service this time was much better. Different staff from previous lunch. Lobster noodle stood out the most. Lobster was fresh and the noodles very flavorful. Other than shortfalls with service occasionally, food is good
