My husband and I love Japanese restaurants and this is one of our favorite....ever. The food is spectacular. Do not miss it if you are in D.C. Jenna C., our waitress, was superb and the General Manger was very attentive and friendly. You must go here!

I, my husband and our son who used to live in Japan also really enjoyed their kind service, delicious foods, quality…everything! People there were friendly, also had professional service for us. We came back for our dinner next day too. One of the Sushi chef, Alexander gave us wonderful service, cooked beautiful sushi rolls in front of us at sushi bar and we enjoyed to talk with him. Everybody who work there were wonderful. We loved all Nigiri, rolls, Japanese foods, desserts we ordered. We’d love to come back to Namako when we come to D.S again. Arigatou, Gracious!

Excellent sushi (and worth the price), can recommend Candy Cane, Namaste, and Almost Paradise. Also, the Local Greens Salad and/or one of the Gyoza are great starter options.

Our first time here. The service started off a little slow. But as the server got caught up with her tables she rocked it. Souad B was really attentive and kept the drinks flowing. We tried the Sailor Moon which had the taste profile similar to a sangria. The edamame with smoked salt was quite tasty. The smokiness of the edamame and smoked salt introduced a level of complexity compared to just regular salt. My partner who is vegan had the avocado / cucumber rolls. I had the Florida roll, Spicy Salmon roll, Wagu Nigiri, Maguro Sashimi and Tako Sashimi (ok I was starving)!!!! You cannot go wrong with any food choices at this place. Everything was fresh and well executed. And the service was cohesive. Everyone worked together effortlessly. We were literally the last to leave. The GM was very friendly and polite. He was very gracious about asking about our experience. Which was absolutely GREAT!! 10/10 here!!!

Had an amazing time at Nama Ko. The food was exquisite, and so fresh. The drinks were perfect, well made, balanced, all of the flavors were present. We shared the Almost Paradise rolls, Wagyu Dumplings, the duck breast and the King Crab risotto. Cant wait to go back and try some of their other dishes.

My girlfriend and I sat at the counter for a Valentine’s Day celebration. We started out with one of their specials for the day which featured an amazing toro tuna tartare and a fantastically king salmon crudo (it’s a must try), setting a great tone for the evening. We then went through several different courses featuring sushi rolls and nigiri. Everything came out very fast and was presented beautifully. Our server was on top of everything and made sure we were taken well care of. Highlight of the evening was the crab risotto, probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Finished off the meal with mango-coconut-yuzu soft serve which provided a refreshing end to the experience. Bring a date here if you are looking to impress, food, service and the general vibe of the place was top tier. Will definitely be returning.

It’s a cool spot, great sushi, must try their specially rolls! Cocktail list is delicious. It can get a little pricey, but what isn’t these days. We love the atmosphere too: good music, it doesn’t have a Japanese hot spot look, more like a vibe spot in the city that serves sushi.

I had read about Nama Ko in the Washingtonian Magazine and really wanted to try some of the unique menu items. So I made a reservation for their restaurant week special, which my husband and I made it a date night. The ambiance was really nice and the decor was modern with some Asian touches. the dark brown tones with the lighted stone wall (behind the bar) and light curtains was a nice combination. The biggest issue I had was that it was quite loud with the music and the full restaurant crowd of people. While I could still have a conversation with my husband and the wait staff, I still felt that I had to speak a little louder than I normally would. The music was energetic and a louder than I prefer. The lighting was good. although in some areas in the main dining area was a little darker. I will say that we were there at peak times on a Saturday night around 7pm, so it was pretty busy. As for the food, that was the star of the show. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful. The matzoh ball miso soup was very good, but could have been a little hotter (but that's my preference). The duck bao was amazing. I had the aged pork and my husband, the crispy chicken. They were perfectly cooked and so delicious. We also had cocktails which were unique and very tasty. They were not part of the restaurant week menu, however. The desserts were also unique and a nice end to a great meal. It was a wonderful dining experience, noise level aside. We ended up ordering some other small appetizers to try since they sounded so good; which they were. I really loved their fresh sushi and sashimi appetizers. I will say that it is a nice place for a date, but it can(and most likely) be an expensive date night. Our bill was more than I expected, but I was already prepared that it was going to up there. That's the only thing that made me give the overall 4 stars instead of 5. Overall, I would still recommend Nano Ko. Its a nice place and the food is unique but still familiar.

I have been to Nama Ko on four occasions--twice for dinner, once for brunch, and one for restaurant week dinner. My two original a la carte dinners were fantastic. The miso soup was some of the best I've had and the roasted mushrooms a must-get. Cocktails and sushi rolls (Candy Cane and the spicy salmon house roll) were excellent. The miso truffle soft serve for dessert was also a highlight and not something I'd skip. On one occasion we ordered the pieces of Hamachi sashimi but they brought us the appetizer version--at twice the price--which we didn't realize until the bill came. Wish the waiter had clarified when we ordered. However, it went downhill from there. Went for brunch and had truly amazing service--though, we were one of about three tables at the time. The waiter gave us almost an entire bottle of free Prosecco, so I certainly can't complain about that. The brunch portions were incredibly small, though, with one "Brunch Special" not being enough to feed one person. They were priced low, so maybe I shouldn't have been surprised, but then why were they not billed as starters? And once you order more than one to feel full, it's no longer a decent price. The duck bao buns were disappointing--the bun itself wonderful, but the duck in an odd patty form. The shrimp and congee was ok, though had far less shrimp and pork belly than pictured online. Brunch was aggressively fine. And restaurant week... restaurant week was a bit of a scam. One of the "mains" I recognized as the disappointing shrimp and congee from the brunch menu, my soup was about half the size of the a la carte version, the crab salad was imitation, and the piece of cooked fish I received as my main was so small it may as well been for ants. Don't get me wrong--it was delicious--but after three miniscule courses, my dining companions and I were so hungry we had to order sushi before our dessert arrived, adding onto our already high bill. It truly felt like we were being ripped off.
