Our menu represents Chef Michael's Blackie’s best food memories, which span over his 35 plus international career Chef worked in Asia, Latin America and is an expat from the UK.
His food style can best be described as a balance between Canadian roots with a strong influence in both Asian, Latin and European cuisines.
We are currently open for Dinner weekly Wednesday to Sunday from 5 to 9 pm. We are known for our blind tasting menu that features 8 dishes shared between 2 people. We are also open for Sunday Brunch from 10am to 1 pm and offer a sharing 10dish brunch tasting menu presented over 5 waves.
NeXT opened in 2009 and is consistently in the top drawer of established restaurants in the Ottawa / Gatineau region. NeXT has been awarded many accolades over these past 11 years.

We were celebrating my dad’s 91st birthday. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner who escorted my 87 year old mom to the table, chatting with her the whole time. I quietly mentioned to him that my dad was celebrating his 91st birthday and he proceeded to tell me about his 93 year old father-in-law. He said that they’d pull out all the stops. Our waiter was gracious and attentive ensuring that both my parents were comfortable. The food was great. When it came to dessert, my dad got his dessert with a candle. When the bill came, my dad’s dessert and my mom’s second drink were free. It doesn’t get better than that!

My husband and I decided to try NEXT for a date night, and we were not disappointed! As two young people who are not well versed in the culinary world, it was so lovely to have the chef serve us and describe the overall menu and each dish in such detail! We loved absolutely everything we ordered and it was so cool to experience the sharing style menu. The chef was super friendly and welcoming, and you could see how proud he is of the dishes he has created with influences from his travels. Would definitely be back for another special occasion!

We were there to celebrate H's birthday and our wedding anniversary. It was not our first visit; we always had a great experience. We were honoured to have Chef Blackie, the owner, tend to our table last night. Every dish on the "Blind Tasting Menu" has a story, generous portion, and thoughtful presentation. We enjoyed them all so very much. Chef Blackie is genuinely a down-to-earth kind of guy. Talking to him was as simple as talking with the next door neighbour. During the dinner, he shared with us that he travels the world for inspiration to create his ideal for a new receipt. We can't wait to see The NeXT again soon.

Staff was all super friendly and welcoming. Had the honor to be served by the chef and co-owner who was amazing by the way. Very personable and friendly. Food was delicious, we went with the blind menus and we highly recommend it as it covers so many dishes with wonderful different tastes. If you are the kind of person that likes to try your partners dish and are open to new taste go for it it's for you.
