North Italia - Reston
We were at the restaurant celebrating a birthday. We had hoped for good weather, as there is ample room to sit outside. Since it was rainy, we sat inside. We knew if would be noisy, but were given a corner table away from the bar.
It would be better if the "background music" was turned down to a lower level., to enable easy conversation.
The food was delicious and the server very congenial and helpful.
My only other suggestion would be to have some sort or green vegetable as part of the meal. My husband had chicken parm with rigatoni. While he very much enjoyed it, the plate cried out for some green beans, asparagus or broccoli to add both color and nutrition. I had diver scallops with risotto. I thought there would be asparagus, but they were chopped into bitty pieces as part of the risotto. Again both the presentation and the meal would be better with a green vegetable on the plate.
Since the meals were not cheap, I feel the addition of a green vegetable entirely warranted.
Late lunch with soup of the day. Just perfect for chatting.
My husbands fish dish was excellent. My meal was awful. I ordered the pasta bolognese, there was such little sauce with absolutely no meat on it. It was so dry it was almost inedible. I asked our bartender (we sat in the bar area) for a side of the meat sauce. After 15 minutes of waiting, it never arrived. I approached the bartender again and the manager came by our table and took the dish and said he would replace it. Another 15 minutes later, my husband had finished his meal and I still didn’t have my dinner. When the pasta finally arrived, it wasn’t a huge improvement in terms of the amount of sauce that was put in it. I’m not expecting a soupy dish but the point of the bolognese is to have a hearty meat sauce with the pasta and this is not at all what arrived, both times. At this point we just wanted to leave. When our check arrived with, we were charged for 2 orders of the pasta AND the side of meat sauce we never received. It was corrected, however at this point, we were just done with the entire experience.
I understand restaurants are hurting for staff, I am very patient but this was just unsatisfactory on all levels. I likely will not be returning after this experience.
Great food and service! Everyone was very attentive and especially nice to my 8 m.o. baby.
For those of you that have tried real ($$$) Wagyu don’t bother from here cause you will be highly disappointed. It was very chewy and burnt! The rest of the food was great and the staff was lovely!
My coworker and I love going to North Italia. This was our first time at this location and it did not disappoint. We set at the bar and had the best service, delicious cocktails and food :) 10/10 recommend!
It seems that they had shortage of severs but kept sitting people in in spite of that. We sat for about 15 minutes before asking if we can get someone to at least get us water.
Another thing that was not well taken care of is that our kids meal showed up almost 10 minutes after other food for all adults were served . It was simple spaghetti with sauce…. It should arrive first if anything.
If you don’t have enough servers, why would you continue to accept customers? And why would you inform me of that a couple times? How am I supposed to help it resolve? It is the management responsibility.
And if you say a thing you feel like you are
Food is what would be expected from a chain restaurant. Not what I would consider refined, authentic Italian cuisine.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Food was delicious! Outdoor dining was perfect. Our server Chris was fantastic!
Horrible service. No one was there and the service was awful. Food was just okay. Everything took forever. Ask for the bruschetta and the server told me she forgot to put it in. We cancelled it, since we already had our entrees. It came anyway - 10 minutes later and we were charged for it. Overpriced and service is awful. Will not be back. There for lunch on 9/9/21
Hi Dana, I am sorry to hear about the lack of hospitality. I have sent you a private message for further information. Best Cole Wiedel General Manager
The chicken parm was delicious. I tried half of the cocktails and they were so tasty. Great service and our waiter was very attentive
Thank you dinner
Food was good but services was very poor, waitress forgot to bring plates for the bread, also we as for Parmesan cheese because waitress didn't offer and she brought a very small cup.
The food was fresh and delicious! Brought out in great time. Our waitress was really nice and available. The price is a bit much, but the ambience and quality keep me going back.
The food is delicious and service excellent. I highly recommend this place
Great service. Great ambiance. Can’t go wrong here. Solid Italian food. Well prepared and delicious.
We were outdoors. Wait staff attentive. Tomatoes and buratta delicious. All salads are good, too. Tiramisu was very tasty.
My wife and I thought the food was very good, somewhat different than other Italian restaurants in the northern Virginia area. Service was lacking, but this was because they were understaffed, due to Covid and other reasons.
Had an amazing first round of old fashioned with bourbon, drink was smooth and had the perfect balance of bitters. Second round was awful, had to ask for a replacement land while a bit better there was no consistency of type of ice used (cubed verses the large single piece). Only improvement would be to make sure that bartenders are following recipes and using consistency. This is the second time this has happened at the RTC location while dining. First drink amazing 2nd drink was awful.
We had delicious food and great service from our waiter, Chris. We reserved an outside table and the whole evening from food, to atmosphere, to service was outstanding. Thank you Chris (second time you've been our server!) and North Italia for a great spot to entertain family and guests.
Very slow service. We made a reservation and were promptly seated (after I told the hostess we were not waiting at the bar when half the tables were empty). It took about 45 minutes before the first course came, then another 30 before the main course. Clearly, they are understaffed. The food was OK, but we came there specifically for the squid ink pasta, which was a disappointment. The meal was too pricey for what we got. It could have just been an off night, so I may give them one more chance.
This is our go to restaurant in the town center. The food is delish and the service is great...time after time, we have never had a bad experience.
So fun. So good. We love this North Italia so much.
Great place! I loved their food and cocktails! I would recommend the short rib pasta
The food was excellent! Good portion sizes, good selection of offerings. The server, Aldis (sp?), was absolutely terrific, and especially so as he was working extra tables both inside and outside the restaurant.
Thanks Mike! We are also very pleased to have Aldis as part of the North Italia family. Hope to see you again soon! Cole Wiedel General Manager
Food as usual was very good! It was very warm in the restaurant— and we made mention of the temp— server just shrugged and didn’t offer any explanation or remedy (the ac could have been broken).
Server didn’t seem to want to wait on us— in fact didn’t even come back and ask if we wanted dessert (which we would have ordered) just brought our check.
We usually have great service etc here so hoping it was a one off— but food didn’t suffer from the other issues.
The entire evening was perfection. The food, the atmosphere and especially our server was first rate. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a nice night out with some wonderful food.
Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, and very friendly competent wait staff.
We shared the Funghi pizza and a Caesar salad. The food was delicious and we had a fantastic waiter, Aldis. A very relaxing and enjoyable Sunday lunch.
The food was amazing (as always) and the staff was so nice and attentive.
Worst service ever! Food took forever to be served, water glasses not refilled, and hostess didn’t check me in on my open table reservation.
Was here a month ago and couldn’t wait to come back again for the Bolognese — so delicious — and It was just as good as I remembered. Wish you were in Fairfax City!
Always outstanding food and service from North Italia! Our favorite go to restaurant in NoVa.
via Open Table we mentioned our anniversary and asked for a quiet table - we got a table in the bar area (pretty loud) and no recognition of it being a special event. Drinks came very late, after appetizers were done. Wine came half way through meal. Wait staff didn't seem to care about experience, more about moving us along. Never asked how meal was, at any point.
It took fifteen minutes before anyone approached our table. It Took 40 minutes to get 4 cocktails and it wasn’t busy. We chose indoor dining but it was so hot…felt like the AC wasn’t even on.
Food was good though. Would not go back.
Food was fabulous!
The truffle garlic bread is to die for!
Absolutely loved our dinner at North Italia. We've been to the Tysons location and decided to try out Reston. And we were so happy we did! The ambiance was amazing. Loved the outside seating. Everything was great!
Thank you Claudia!
