O'Brien's Oyster Bar & Grillfish
Easter Sunday dinner. We wanted seafood, so we headed to Annapolis. Beautiful weather, so the downtown area was packed and buzzing. Luckily, there is multi-level garage parking available. The street side tables were too busy for us, so we were led to the private patio. It was the perfect place to eat delicious food snd drink. Service was great; not overbearing. We will definitely return.
They advertised a patio, but we sat on the street (which was fine, but then don't advertise a patio). The only heater was not working. We had minimal service due to being outside and long waits for our waiter. They gave us old menus as they couldn't find the current ones. The online menu was outdated and we were disappointed they did not have the food items we came for. Burger and MD crab soup were great, mussels were very meh. Experience was fine but not great, and wouldn't go back.
A few issues with our order but they were quick to correct. Would definitely come back.
We went for date night. The food was bland. The waitress was nice. I was expecting a little more especially since it was restaurant week.
Both oyster and mussels were not tasty - very disappointing for Annapolis!
My friend and I went here for BRUNCH! The food was amazing and our waitress was very attentive.
Horrible service, forgot several items and food was bland.
Waitress was serving in two different rooms, have to go get her several times. Separate server served salad, but forgot dressing. Took so long to get salad. Meal came one minute after salad. Stuffed fish was bland and not hot enough. Place was only half full so crowd was not the problem.
Post covid so I think the staff haven’t quite scaled up to demand. Seated on time, staff weren’t aware of the restaurant week promotion, the restaurant also changed some of the options from the website as well but didn’t update page. Somewhat disappointed. Food arrived slow, possibly communication delays with kitchen staff; others who seated after us got food first ; but also can point to post covid scaleup issues that should go away over time
Great experience from the time we arrived until the time we left.
We had the 3 course meal for restaurant week. We didn’t enjoy it. The crab soup had lump crab but had a funny after taste. The mahi-mahi was bland, the creme brûlée was cold. The only thing that was good with the creme brûlée was the top caramelized layer it was done good. The only good item was the side order of oysters we purchased in addition to the pre-fix meal. Oh yeah our 4 year old son loved the fries!
The food here was exceptional and the staff was super nice qnd accommodating! I was, however, very loud and it seemed we could have to yell to speak with each other even though we were at the same table.
Excellent food, drinks and service.
Crab soup, both cream of crab and Maryland crab, was superb.
For the entree, I ordered crab stuffed shrimp. The lump crab was wonderful but the shrimp were like shoe leather.
Mashed potatoes were very plain-I suspect they may have been instant. No flavor and no butter to put on them. The broccolini was the highlight on the plate.
We. We’re late for our reservation by about five minutes because of parking issues. I called the hostess to let her know we were on the way and parking in the adjacent lot.
I was told she couldn’t find our reservation and then when I continued to give the openTable information, she became flustered and put me on hold to never return.
If you make a reservation through this app, call and confirm as well. You don’t want to be left standing at the hostess stand as they tell you they can’t find it and become angry when you show them to confirmation and ask what happened.
There are other restaurants downtown which are really great and have more outdoor seating.
I am a blue-crab loving Marylander who has found Mecca with o’Briens back fin, no-filler crab cake. It is worth it. Why pay less for a pile of fake crab and bread crumbs. Go for the real deal. It is worth it.
First time visiting after being unable to get a table at The Metropolitan. Made reservations for brunch. A preview of the menu seemed promising. The prices were a little steep for the regular menu items and the quality just wasn't there. Huge lover of crab dip so I went for it as an appetizer. The dip had zero crab throughout instead there was sparse gray/dark claw meat scattered on top that at first glance looked like sardines. The sauce tasted like velveeta or cheese wiz. Sent it back after a few bites. Ordered the steak & eggs as an entree. Asked for eggs scrambled soft w/cheese. The egg was overcooked like an omelet and it had a slice of cheese laid on top. Not a fan of struggle slices of cheese. My steak was cooked medium as requested but it came with steak sauce slathered on already. Don't recall the menu describing it that way My sister had the French toast & my mom the crab cake & salmon which they both enjoyed. However, my sister's bacon was delivered to the table scorched earth style. Overall, we weren't impressed and probably wouldn't return.
Enjoyed 2 times we went there
Oyster deal all month is great
Bartenders were awesome and the wait staff
Thx for a great weekend experience for St Patrick’s Day!!
Excellent food! Oysters were great, the surf and turf was really good, fish and chips very good too. Drinks not so good but will definitely come back to this place,
This was our first time dining here and we had a nice ime.
Most everything was fine. Our server Murphy was excellent. Crab cake dinner was underwhelming. Pricey, but crab cakes were small.
Awesome to be out and about again! Excellent service!
They were so full downstairs that they put us in a large room upstairs. It was very quiet with very few people and completely different from the festive atmosphere downstairs. The servers were very attentive and the food was good but we missed being downstairs in the more bustling area.
Highly recommend the weekend brunch. The french toast is amazing !
Went for brunch w/my girlfriend. I ordered a custom omelette w/crab meat. My gf ordered veggie omelette add spinach & bacon. When our food came I had bacon & mushrooms not what I asked. My gf didn’t have any mushrooms or bacon. Somehow it was mixed up but the manager did take care of us by comping the bill. We will try it again.
we were seated immediately, we had a reservation through Open Table. Drinks and Oysters came quickly. Server was Angel and he was fantastic. Just enough attention, if we needed anything he was always available. Had not been to O'Briens in a long time. Will be back soon.
Great brunch menu. Our server Steve was excellent.
Great experience from arrival thru dinner. Service was attentive and friendly. Food was great!
Excellent service. Murphy took good care of us.
The creme brulee French toast is a must!
We had a table on the patio garden area. It was a little chilly but they turned an extra heater on for us and the area was nicely lit with lights. The food was delicious and service was attentive. We had a great first date!
I had no idea their food was so good! We usually just go in for drinks. They have a large selection of dinner options and we really loved their food.
Ribs were hard to get off the bone and very dry. The shrimp and oysters were very good.
It was a great experience with only 25% capacity the service and food was outstanding.
We enjoyed an exquisitely good meal with great service and reasonable prices. The seafood (crab soup, shrimp stuffed with crab imperial, shrimp salad) was as good as any we've ever had in the Annapolis-DC area -- and the side dishes accompanying our meal were extraordinarily tasty. The atmosphere was safe, clean, and welcoming. We also loved the location right in the historic dock area. Can't wait to return during a future visit to Annapolis.
My husband and I came here for Christmas dinner as we were traveling and not many places were open on Christmas Day. The food was phenomenal, perfect Christmas seafood dinner. Our waitress was very polite, friendly and prompt. We will continue to come back anytime we are in the area!
Great oysters and bar. Food was excellent. Service was light due to COVID impact to businesses. Great place to visit and enjoy!
The cream of crab soup is a must try. Ribs are good.
The food was good and the wait staff was attentive.
Jennifer, our waitress was wonderful! The noise in the dining area was loud and the food was over priced and fair at best.
Ate outside due to Covid. Best part of meal were the Margheritas. Food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Good for bar hopping...
